You should try and make a sandwich de pernil that is popular here in Ecuador. It is always served with a spicy salsa made from tree tomatoes and white onions. Delicious.
I'm doing a Scallywag's Tea Party as a NYE get together and you are giving me all kinds of ideas for cheese combos to make cheese cannon balls, which will pair nicely with salmagundi. I'm also making the oldest recorded punch recipe. Black tea, rum, limes, and sugar with spices, like a mulled Arnie Palmer
It just so happens that I have all these ingredients. I guess I’ll have to give it a go. Olives and cottage cheese actually makes a pretty good combo so I’m thinking it won’t be half bad. Thanks for the recipe 👍
I think when it says cottage cheese, its really referring to Quark or Farmers Cheese, more like cream cheese than modern "cottage cheese". Whereas Cottage Cheese in America today is usually curds with added cream, a more modern invention, so it is not quite the same meaning of the term. But I'm sure it tastes fine either way! Also I would definitely use French's, which became popular for sandwiches all over the US after the debut at the World's Fair.
German sandwich plussed up with Japanese potato chips? You just needed an Italian ingredient and then this would be the Axis Sandwich! Makes me wonder what an American, British, and French sandwich would be like for the Allies sandwich?
Hahahahaha, the "country" sandwiches naming are simply hilarious. I wouldn´t combine olives and the word "German" in one sandwich (I´m German myself and I can do this statement). I would´ve expected something with liver pate, cucumber and mustard now (maybe exchange the cucumbers for radishes). Anyway - I will give it a try.
I'd don't get how this particular combination of ingredients is "German". Even in the timeframe it doesn't make sense as a form of exoticism given how many German immigrants had moved here by that point.
Barry, have you ever made a Brazilian liver sandwich? My dad talks about them with so much nostalgia and he says it was the best lunch sandwich he used to have when he was in his late teen years, working 12 hour shifts as a mailman in the 60s in São Paulo. I know one of your guests made a liver sandwich but that was just disgusting, haha, not even close to the one my dad talks about.
alright, I got a horrible sandwich for you if you want to represent modern poor people sandwich. Ever want a grilled cheese? But you would have to wash a pan.. and you just got off work and you're too tired. Maybe you have no butter and oil kinda sucks and the only oil you have is that store brand vegetable oil. So you do the most horrible thing in the world. You take some block munster, slice a few pieces off, two slices of potato bread (if you're lucky, you have these things. This is the best version of this monster) and just microwave it? and it's not so bad? I mean... sure... a grilled cheese is good, but like.. its editable and kinda gummy but its better then a lot of other possible options when you have no options.

Yay for more South American sandwiches!!

"It's not the worst thing I've eaten" The anchovy sandwich still giving you flashbacks?

I wonder if Barry would make that recently viral sandwich that just has a bunch of chopped up ingredients in it with dressings.
Am I getting a history lesson when I watch these sandwich recipe videos? I feel like I am.
plussed up version looks pretty tasty

Clever.... I'd say a banger on croissant with mayo... actually sounds delicious
Mayo in no way represents American cuisine... Americans use it far less than Europeans. @@jmason61

The chips are GOLD
I was thinking "olives? german??" but it turns out there's olive groves as far north as Cologne!
Sehr gut!

I can honestly say that I have not. Was it a popular sandwich? Do you have a recipe, by chance?
probieren Sie es aus
So many of these recipes just seem to be random ingredients they have laying around (probably about to spoil).
Throw some Parmesan cheese on that plussed up up sandwich and call it the Axis power sandwich =8-/
You have a beautiful mind
You make me cry! A german comment.
Do a sardine sandwich?
Check out his video catalogue - he's done maybe 20 sardine sandwiches!
tbh, I as a german never would eat that ^^''''
I find it hard to fathom German anything without some schwein.
About as German as... I'm not sure.
