Today the great, great, great Sam Cooke would have been 93 years old. Happy Heavenly birthday to Mr. Sam Cooke. Your great music will live forever in our hearts.
At a time in music when very few artists as big as Sam Cooke wrote and arranged their own songs, Sam did it all. He was an accomplished musician and prolific composer. If there ever was a more perfect voice than his, I've never heard it. 😊
Further down the road, he was only 33 when he died. The body of work in that short space of time, means he was on the way to becoming the greatest of all times.
Sam's death was a major blow to the world . The only person who is as talented as him ( and a great admirer of Sam's) is Steve Perry. Steve is a true gem
How can someone not like this beautiful song from one of the greatest voices that ever lived, I used to wear out the cd that this song is on. Thanks for posting in on You Tube.
mine too!!! mel carter charted with this with a voice similar to sam cooke's; in believe they were friends. this is one that doesn't get play, like all them non-top 10 hits, except on eclectic oldies stations, of which there are few. also love "good news"
There are only two singers I refer to as Mr: the first is Sam Cooke, my favourite, and the best, male singer of all time. The second is James Carr, my favourite Southern soul singer just ahead of Otis. P. S. I refer to my favourite, and the best, female singer of all time simply as Aretha. All these singers take you to another plane .... transcendence. From Melbourne, Australia :)
And his name today would have been KING.I think as us men today could take a page from Sam and be better lovers. Not only to our boo,lol but our children, family and friends. In my opinion he had that scene of peace and happiness joy something that you don't find everyday.I will always continue to listen to his music.LEGENDARY!!2018 sing SAM sing.
Th control Sam had on his voice made him one of the best singers ever lived. The only singer who cam near to what Sam was doing with his voice is Luther Van-Dros. Two great singers who left us too early.
how about Rod Stewart? Rod never shied away from the fact that Sam's voice was the biggest influence on his singing style Rod Stewart early 70's obviously :p
1964 I was 10 years old and always was loving the spinners and temptations and Sam Cooke even James Brown my homie some things just never get old only us and our human form rock on baby
Even though I have never met him, and he hasn't known that I do exist, Sam Cook is my vocal instructor - for free, mind you! Listening and imitating Sam Cook has always been my favorite musical occupation! This is the first time that I am consciously aware of this wonderful song by Sam Cook! Excellent posting!
No one is a bigger fan of Sam Cooke than myself and he was incapable of singing any song superbly. That all being said, I would urge you to listen Mel Carter's earlier released version of this (1964) It captures First Love innocents more completely, IMO. In fact, I like it more than Carter's biggest hit of "Hold me, thrill me".
I've heard them say love was a wonderful things Something you couldn't hide on a shelf But for me they no longer have to explain Because I know for myself He awakens each morn with a smile on his face When a boy is in love And the world to him is a beautiful place When a boy is in love He's up and he's gone There's no breakfast for him Cause he lives on the love of his sweet little gem The days not through, though it's not very long Before he must talk to his girl on the phone That's how it is when a boy falls in love His girl's voice on the phone brings him wondrous delight When a boy is in love If there's been any darkness, it all fades from sight When a boys in love He can hardly wait til the moment they meet For he knows when he sees her his day will be complete When they're finally alone and he kisses her lips The world sings a love song and his heart turns a flip That's how it is when a boy falls in love At the end of the day the time comes they must part The strings of regret tear away at his heart And late in the night as he sleeps on his bed Visions of her sweet song, how they dance in his head And before you know he is buying a ring To capture forever that sweet darling thing That's how it is when a boy falls in love That's how it is when a boy falls in love
Melancholy Hills I agree, he would make a good Sam Cooke, so would Will Smith. I always thought Denzel should have played Alex Cross. As a big fan of the Patterson books I wanted the movies to be good. The recent film "Alex Cross" wasn't that good, and didn't stick to the books. Patterson described Cross in the books as resembling a young Muhammed Ali. The two earlier films "Kiss the Girls" & "Along Came a Spider" were great, and Morgan Freeman played a great role as always, but even back then he was a little too old for the role.

There will never be another Sam Cooke in this world, love his voice 😍
his death at age 33 a huge, huge loss to the whole world!!!!
He was arguably among the top five singers of all times.
Further down the road, he was only 33 when he died. The body of work in that short space of time, means he was on the way to becoming the greatest of all times.
in fairness tho', Rod Stewart did his absolute best to sound like him ..and did a decent job of it too imho :)
Sam's death was a major blow to the world . The only person who is as talented as him ( and a great admirer of Sam's) is Steve Perry. Steve is a true gem
Released in October 1964 by the father of soul, the one and only Sam Cooke. Simply Supreme.

Awesome Steve Perry loves this song!
Steve Perry and Rod Stewart and Willie Hutch have a tiny bit of Sam Cooke in their voices.
Beautiful voice

Rod Stewart early 70's obviously :p
@@Tokinjester Rod is one of many who was influenced by Sam. I agree that Luther is the only one who came close to the level of Sam Cooke.

Do it Sam do it.
Falling in love is great on a two way street but, in love alone is too sad
Take back to the days when men use to be gentlemen and women use to be ladies 🙄
Sam Cooke at his best...

One of my favorites Sam Cooke offerings. Catch that diction ...
I've heard them say love was a wonderful things
Something you couldn't hide on a shelf
But for me they no longer have to explain
Because I know for myself
He awakens each morn with a smile on his face
When a boy is in love
And the world to him is a beautiful place
When a boy is in love
He's up and he's gone
There's no breakfast for him
Cause he lives on the love of his sweet little gem
The days not through, though it's not very long
Before he must talk to his girl on the phone
That's how it is when a boy falls in love
His girl's voice on the phone brings him wondrous delight
When a boy is in love
If there's been any darkness, it all fades from sight
When a boys in love
He can hardly wait til the moment they meet
For he knows when he sees her his day will be complete
When they're finally alone and he kisses her lips
The world sings a love song and his heart turns a flip
That's how it is when a boy falls in love
At the end of the day the time comes they must part
The strings of regret tear away at his heart
And late in the night as he sleeps on his bed
Visions of her sweet song, how they dance in his head
And before you know he is buying a ring
To capture forever that sweet darling thing
That's how it is when a boy falls in love
That's how it is when a boy falls in love
Love this song 1:28

I've been hearing off and on for years that there will be a Sam Cooke movie. When?
If they make one, Denzel Washington should play Cooke.. They some what resemble each other and they have the same mannerisms
Melancholy Hills I agree, he would make a good Sam Cooke, so would Will Smith. I always thought Denzel should have played Alex Cross. I hope if they do we get the real story of how they murdered him...
Was this his last ever song?
I started listening to Sam Cooke at about 6yrs old. When he passed in 1964 .I cried my heart out.His songs is vocal practice for me.
Its "Got the whole world Shakin"
