Adelaide and Melbourne were very parochial cities in the 40's/50's so it's not surprising that the guy's wife didn't read about his death at the time. As an Adelaideian I know there are some rather macabre mysteries/murders associated with the city - the disappearance of the Beaumont children, and the snatching ofJoanne Ratcliffe, aged 11 years, and Kirste Gordon, aged 4 years, from the Adelaide Oval during a football match; as well as the sickening "Truro Murders", not to mention the grisly "Snowtown Murders" and the ""Family Murders" - a series of homosexual killings in the 1970s and 1980s that one theory held were the work of a predatory group of influential people1
I like it when you get to see an image of what the perpetrators looked like around or at the time that they committed their crime.
Me that's what I've just commented! Real photos makes the case interesting
