Great tutorial! My favorite is the girl gnome. Now I no how to make the braids. The family is really cut, as well! Perhaps, I will make a family for myself!! Take care!! And, Thank U!!
I love your gnomes. I had a gnome garden in my front yard and some body stoled them . So I am thinking of making holiday gnomes for my front window. Love yours
Oh I love the family!!! I can't believe I have first found you. I love all of your gnomes and thank you so much for answering all of my questions. 😁😘♥️
Oh, thank you so much, Dianne. My sister loves them, puts them out every year, and she always mentions how easy they stack for storage. I just might have to make myself a set. Thank you so very much for watching and have a wonderful new year!
Aw, thank you so much, Miss Goldie. When I started years ago, there were NO tutorials. I messed up so much fur. LOL I'm glad they are helpful and thank you so much for watching.
After now making 30 gnomes! I love yours! I especially like the faux fur braids - hoe much better and cuter then my yarn ones. As a matter of fact I only have 3 girl gnomes (gnometts) because I hated making the braids! Thanks for another cute diy - great!
30 gnomes, Molly!?! I am going to say we are both addicted. Haha I've done the yarn and they look great - different but so sweet. I've also done the felted yarn, which was fun but a lot of work. LOL So far, these are definitely my favorite, mostly because I can make a set in a theme like this. I sincerely thank you for watching, Molly.
Love these! I’ve been making the kind with socks and rice bodies, but I’m definitely giving these a shot as well. I think it will be fun to have a few different styles of gnomes... like they’re all coming together from different regions for a reunion 😊 Thanks for sharing!
Oh, I love making the sock gnomes - they are so easy. These cones are a lot of fun (and also no-sew like the sock gnomes). Let me know if you run into any snags with them.
Oh my goodness!!! =) The whole family is adorable.... I think my favourite is the Daddy one... mostly because I love the moustache and beard. ;) Love them. =)
OHHH i am so happy I found your channel!!! I'm one of those people that look all year round at christmas deco and diy's.. i cant help myself lol.... they are so cute really are... my problem where i live we have a very small dollar tree we dot get what thr other stores does the closest craft store is almost 3 hours away. to but supplies....xoxox
I'm so glad you found the channel and I'm the same - if I have an idea for a Christmas project in May, I'll still make it. :) Do you order online for craft supplies? I get a ton of my supplies from there or Etsy just because the craft stores are so inconsistent.
@@SarahNenniDaher when i want something for a craft project i go to all our stores to find what would work! sometimes i have to go out og town .. i went and got me a prepaid card so i could order on line..
I love your tutorial. I have posted it on some FB pages I belong to. I’ve gotten 250 likes on my gnomes so far on one page and it’s only been a couple of hours. You may be getting a surge of likes on your videos soon. LOL.
Thank you so much, Deb. The little one was made the same way as the mom, however, instead of braids I just tied off the fur in "pig tails." It was too small for me to braid. :)
I love these gnomes! What type of clay did you use for the nose? Was it a baking or air dry clay? I have enjoyed watching all your Gnome making videos. Thanks for sharing your creative ideas. Have a Merry Christmas.
Oh, thank you for the kind words. I just used baking clay and made a whole bunch. Some were round, others oblong, some small, others WAY too big. LOL I love using clay and wooden beads for the noses as they are easier to dust than the fabric noses or pompoms. ;)
For these gnomes, I mentioned that I made them with clay (just rolled a circle and squished it down to make an oval). When I make many of my gnomes, however, I use wood beads or plastic beads in shades of skin tones. You can honestly use anything you have: beads, buttons, clay, pompoms, bottle caps, etc.
Oh nice! I have a tutorial on felting yarn for a set of gnome braids, as well. It's on the site (not on RUclips), but makes for a wonderful, natural look. Happy crafting, Denise, and thank you for watching.
The paper mache cones are in the craft stores right now (Hobby Lobby had a lot of them last week in varying sizes). If you can't find the cones, you can use the tree ones (just cut off the base - or leave it if you don't want them to stack). I order in larger quantities on Amazon though, mostly because I go through a lot of them with my tutorials.
I buy the paper mache cones from Amazon because they are less expensive, but craft stores usually start carrying them in September for the holiday season. The fabric is just some stuff available at Joann's - flannel for the plaid, felt for the fella's hat, and minky fabric in a light gray for the lady's hat. Honestly, this whole set (one of my all-time favorites) were some of the easiest to put together using what I had on hand. I hope you make them and LOVE them! If you do, pop me a pic or share them in the Facebook group. I love seeing everyone's creations.
@@SarahNenniDaher Thank You very much for your quick response, Sarah and for your useful suggestions. I've wanted to make gnomes for a very long time and YOUR video was so straight forward easy that anyone could make them. These would make great gifts for Christmas! So I will be checking Amazon and local stores for supplies! Thank You again! It is so nice that you posted this in hopes of helping others and it is. I am glad I found your video. Will do on posting when done as Christmas nears. Have a good night and many more Happy Gnomes to you!!! 😊
Love it. I’m making gnomes but I am using yarn as the beard/hair. I just like the yarn look more. I wasn’t going to buy a lot of Dollar Tree mops to get the look so I thought yarn will work. Do you do any of your gnomes using yarn?
Shelly Lemons I just started making them too.. I think the mop look is icky.. I’ve been using yarn folded around and around a piece of cardboard and then cut .. looks like a fluffy walrus mustache🤗🙃
I get the cones on Amazon, though craft stores have them closer to the holidays. The fur is called "Mongolian" and is the 3-inch, frosted gray. I get it from Amazon. I think I have both of them on this list here so you can search: www.amazon.com/shop/rufflesandrain?listId=1FTNJ97JIJE57
I put two options in the video description (small and full yard online orders). If you have a fabric store (not a craft store), you might find the long, Mongolian fur in the home decor / rug section.
Julie, I will link the page with the supplies (thank you for the reminder). The tall cones are 13.75 inches tall and the small is 4 inches. I got them on Amazon here*: amzn.to/330EQ9n
These are the cutest gnomes I’ve seen yet! Plus I love that you made female gnomes-first tutorial I’ve seen of those

Terrific idea for the braids! TFS. Stinkin' cute, and even quicker than the sock gnomes.
Right? These were SO easy, even working with that minky fabric. I have a bit left over and my daughter wants a pillow because it's SO soft. :)
I've watched a number of gnome videos and have found yours to be very informative and enjoyable to follow. You're very good.
Thank you so much, Rose. And thank you for watching - I just love sharing these little guys.
