- The observation of Comet Neowise in conjunction with intense Noctilucent Clouds (NLC) was truly a once in a lifetime event. Photographed from the Bavarian Alps in June and July 2020 and captured in glorious 8K resolution.
Comet Neowise was the brightest observable comet in the Northern hemisphere since Comet Hale-Bopp in 1997 and won't make another pass for nearly 6000 years.
NLC's are the highest clouds in Earth's atmosphere, located in the mesosphere at altitudes between 76 to 85 km. When the sun hits these high altitude clouds about an hour before sunrise a distinct silvery glow can be observed.

Nice chill summer vibes on this one. My favorite clip starts at around 1:34 in case you or anyone reading this would like to know. Also I quite dig how you can see the parallax of the comet against the starry background on the tracked shot.

Special, to say the least. Insane footage of the comet. Must have been even more insane to witness. Just makes you feel re-evaluate humanity. As for the clip, I get the colours and the clouds, but look again and it is the stars out there meeting Earth’s atmosphere. When was it again that we could all travel to space for less than «some» euros/dollars? :)

Hallo Martin, schade das du immer noch nicht mit HDR arbeitest, gerade in den dunklen Szenen sind auf meinem TV doch sehr harte Farbkanten zu erkennen, welche mit HDR verschwinden würden. Trotzdem tolles Video und mach weiter so 👍😉

Alter, da haste wieder einen rausgehauen. Allein die NLC Aufnahmen sind schon erste Sahne, schließlich ist sowas auch kaum zu planen, in Bayern auch eher selten. Mit Komet natürlich noch besser. Da kamen Glück, Hardware und Können zusammen. Schöne Postproduktion. Kannst ja mal überlegen, ob da ein Still nicht auch als Poster taugt.
