This is one of the best video on Aurora..boss.. even AWS employees can not make such..i do not have words to appreciate your hard works..Keep sharing knowledge..
Humble request - Please mark a consistent naming convention for related videos and group them in a playlist. Your Part -1, 2...etc really helps. Thank you for your humility while explaining the videos and hats off to your knowledge on the subject.
Your videos are simply amazing! I don't have words to describe your videos. How can you be so good at explaining the things that others understand very easily?
I loved the video. No doubt as other videos of yours, this video is also so good. But One thing I didn't understand. Multi-AZ 1. One DB Primary instance in one AZ and the Standby DB instance in another AZ. 2. Synchronous calls between the two. So when a write happens to the primary, it also has to happen in standby. Else the transaction will fail. 3. One single DNS, so that if Primary goes down, then the stand by comes within 30 to 60 seconds Replicas 1. Only for Read operations 2. Can be promoted as a primary DB instance in case of failure but is a manual task. But in Multi-AZ it automatically happens Question: 1. In the case of Aurora, Aurora automatically creates read replicas (only for read)and not the DB instances (like the standby) in 3 AZs. And hence we have the separate option to choose Multi-AZ which means we need to create the standby separately. Is my statement correct? 2. If my statement of #1 is correct, then other RDS services do the write to read replica async-ly but in case of Aurora, it does sync-ly. Am I correct? 3. There should be always two endpoints, one for DB instance and the other for RR. Else the app will not know which one they are going to. This is true for Aurora and other RDS But around 37:50, you said both DB instance and RR have different end-points in Aurora but in RDS they have the same endpoint. Could you please clear my confusion. Thanks !!
So how does we configure aurora in our app. How does aurora decides when to write or when to read.Even how does our app decides when to write or when to read.Lets say we configure same custom end point for read and write , then does aurora automatically differentiates between read and write operation.
Please Answer- If I am not using Multi-AZ, then Aurora will create a new DB instance for me in different AZ in case of failover (this takes time and need more downtime period) But suppose I am using Single Az but have read replica of my DB, In that case Aurora helps me in case my primary DB fails to automatically failover or I have to promote my read replica manually ?? Will be waiting for your answer Thank You.
As end points are different for primary and read replica and during the failure , automatic fail over happens to one of the read replica from primary DB so in that case i have to change setting at application level too (assuming i am having java application) i.e. change the end point to replica read right ? but in normal RDS you dont have to change anything from application point of view as end points remains same irrespective of primary DB and stand by DB so above point make sense in favor to normal RDS.
Hello Knowledgeindia, This is my first comment for your youtube videos. I really like the way you explain each and every topic in detail. 1) Cross region replica is only possible with aurora DB? 2) Can you please create a video how cross-region replica works practically?
Only video available for Aurora provisioning in depth...Thank you.. But i have one question - Let's assume i have one master instance and one replica instance..when master fails there will be failover i understood this....but what happens when a replica instance fails...
Sir, I had data in aws postgresql and I created new aurora dB. I want to transfer total data from postgresql to aurora. By using pgadmin4 backup and restore is not working . Please guide me
@@knowledgeindia sir, thanks for u r reply.. but this doc says .it will create new aurora . So my requirement was moving data to an existing aurora dB.. please help
Consider if we setup like db cluster is distributed in 2 az we have 1 master and 1 replica . What if the master server fails to another az and now both master and replica are on the same server so in this case do we need to manually failover the replica to another az so that both master and replica remain isolated ?
There is some "previous video" mentioned several times in this video. Can someone please share the link to that video. I cannot find any playlists on this channel that would have AWS RDS videos in order.
@@knowledgeindia I think it makes sense to move patreon link to be the first line in the description. Atm it's "lost" in the middle and I imagine most of the people do not read full description.

@knowledgeindia,
Can the instances that are part of one custom endpoint be used in another custom endpoint ?

in case of failover, you can still continue to use primary endpoint, that's the whole point of failover.

You can try DMS
Please make a full video(demo app like Invoice entry master and detail) on serverless AURORA with Lambda(nodeJS) and API Gateway
What is the difference between az and clusters????

What if the master server fails to another az and now both master and replica are on the same server so in this case do we need to manually failover the replica to another az so that both master and replica remain isolated ?
if you want that, you should go with 2 replicas instead of 1.

I would request you to join RUclips membership, by pressing on JOIN button.
if master is corrupted. how to make sure it does not spread to other replicas?
Not sure, what is meant by corruption here? H/w level corruption you don't need to worry. Data level changes will flow to replicas.
Can we create multi-users?
Yes
2x U are welcome.
