Such a beautiful story time! You are so right setting expectations from the beginning is so important but we are always taught that if you say no to your elders it’s disrespectful and we start to believe that! The trauma of not being treated well is so deep that it surfaces more in your 40’s! Love this story time! So well spoken and honest- love it

Great video! We always say " don't let the family you come from ruin the family you made"

I only want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have been through the situation which you spoke. I was literally crying while watching this episode as this triggered my anxiety as I am going through divorce. But I am glad that you could talk this out loud. Hopefully I will get this level of strength one day.

I have the feeling that our parents (1.Generation living in Europe/American/Australia) are more clingy towards us (2. Generation) than how it was for them with their parents. They left their home country as young adults so their parents couldn't interfere and control their kids as they do it with us even if we are already in our 30s or 40s. Of course I do understand that it was hard for them to leave their home country because of war but by always controlling their kids, their kids will never ever be completely growing up or becoming independent.

Definitely have a sis in law just as you described, and the mother in law is just as immature and have catty women vibez. I tolerated it for 8 years and finally decided to keep my distance because it was too toxic.
As you said the beginning sets the environment, so stand up and set boundaries and call out if you need to from the beginning.

Yes often there is generational cultural conditioning within the feminine. This is something I have to clear myself and support other women to do the same.
I have had two mother in laws too and both are different and as you say it comes down to your partner how he seems, his mothers decisions above yours or not supporting you in the relationship. ❤
Vithiya would love a shout out if anyone requires support and therapy.

We have a big house and have now got my dad with me to take care of him. I too had my husbands dad with us.
I agree I reached out some distant family members they didn’t want to get involved. I feel it’s important to get impartial advice and support. I wish I had this when I went through my first divorce. That’s why I do what I do!

My motherinlaw was mean as ever. Then I realised it's because her mother in-law was even more rude and nasty to her. Also, her social friends, family she is surrounded with makes her pressured to be more evil minded making her think that her daughter in-law is not caring for her son as well as she did. But now women how are financial sound with a good job before they marry lets them be more independent and speak their mind to their in-laws.
