I'm sure they don't realize it yet, but your kids are getting such an advantage over city kids. Not just in learning how to do lots of practical jobs and how materials behave (as a physics teacher I could pick out my farm kids within the first ten minutes of class), but also the opportunity to make a tangible, real difference in the way the family works and lives. Not many kids get a chance to make such an authentic contribution to the family's existence.
He is a good example of how a father/ husband should be, Buggy will be on the lookout for someone similar and the boys will be wonderful spouses. Because they all see what works. That anything negative is unacceptable. Examples like that are so needed today, most young adults I see are so lost, it's sad really. Take care and God Bless ❤️🌹❤️

That Buggy is gonna be one tough little cookie when she gets older. She's learning kitchen skills AND she's able to work on the farm with the boys! Go girlfriend! 🥰 Meg - I hope you got some good rest!
Whilst I love all the content you put forward, to watch you sweep your beautiful wife up into your arms and move her out of harms way, totally melted my heart ❤️ Bless you
Awe, Meg. Then Ben swoops in wearing his shining armour and saves you with his tenderness. The boys are learning a lot. Almost worth breaking a few jars.
Thanks for the real time audio while you and Buggy were cleaning the eggs. I love how she stands by what she says. About eggs, and about big brothers and their bicycles!! 😊 Poor Meg. Those kinds of days suck. I'm glad your prince charming was there to rescue you! 👑
Lovely to see you building soil. And Meg explaining about eggs, many people are starting to homestead and may not know these things. Sorry about your jars, bless your heart.
I have a question about cleaning the eggs. I’ve read all different ways to clean them and why to clean them that way. So… Luke warm water is best? I’ve been cleaning mine in pretty warm, not HOT but I’m always afraid I’m doing it wrong and I’m getting bacteria inside the eggs while cleaning the outside. Thanks for the help. Meg you are my go to for advice on these things. I loved it when Ben picked Meg up and delivered her to safety. Such a wonderful example to his boys. Love y’all, Blessings to all of you, oh and I hope the colder weather leaves those beautiful blooms in the orchard alone. Bye… it tickles me to hear Buggy say it at the end 😊 🙏🏻🌷🌼💗
Ben you are megs hero-loved how you swooped in a scooped her away to safety then proceeded to tell her she and buggy could rest while he and boys went to karate. Well done
One day at a time. A happy day spent with the family is never a wasted day even if the to do list gets nothing crossed off! What a day Meg, congratulations on still being able to smile and joke about it. Ben’s instant reaction to get you and your bare feet to safety was wonderful to see, as was his quiet reprimand to sister when she blamed her brother for her mistake. 💕💕🌻🌻
Sorry you had a rough day Meg. You are such a hard worker I dont know how you do it all? It's a full time job just cooking 3 meals a day for that many. But then homeschooling, cleaning the house and doing laundry wow you have to be plumb tired. It is so sweet to see Ben thanking of you and telling you to stay home and get some rest. Our children grow up so fast seems like if you blink you will miss something. Mom's are truly a wonderful gift from God all they do for the family is just amazing in it's self a Meg you are a super Mom to even go above and make so much from scratch for your family. God bless you and your family. But please remember Meg to take some time for yourself and to get some rest. You truly deserve it. I love watching Yall what a wonderful family you all are. And to see how far you have come from when Yall left California. You and Ben seem to be a lot closer. And what a Father Ben is wow is wonderful to see the example Yall are setting for your children and to everyone that is watching your channel. 👍👍💝💐 just Love you guys truly blessed
Ben, what you said about the grass…. I downloaded this one so I could watch it over and over and find it easily. You may not realize what an organic philosopher you are - but you ARE. In every sense of Renaissance!
Your boys are really amazing to your little girl. They keep her safe even thou she is under foot. Precious family. I have 3 boys and one girl, my youngest is 51 now. Wow time takes wings. I have 13 great grandchildren
Ben Hollar! You lovely man! Picking up your sweet little wife out of that broken glass then sweeping it up! Well done Sir! ❤ yet another reason to love you all!❤
Sweetest thing that you picked Meg up to get her away from the glass and then cleaned it up. *remembering why y’all decided to take this journey, to heal your relationship…I think y’all have met that goal.
It's so heart warming how Buggy wants to help with EVERYTHING! Such a fantastic education she is getting growing up on the homestead ~ and the boys too!
Nice collection of eggs from your chickens! I had to toss 2 dozen eggs out. Hubby picked up eggs from a friend who has chickens. The friend washed them, and had placed them in the refrigerator. When hubby brought them home I misunderstood, and thought they were stored on his friend, CW's cabinet. I left the 2 dozen eggs on our cabinet for several days. When I realized my mistake, I put the egg shells in my compost, and got rid of the eggs. I didn't want to make my family sick. Great job on laying grass seed, and covering it with spent hay. Your cows look happy in this video!!!
Aw Meg….I’ve had those days too.. one time I remember I gave up and grabbed a book sat in some sun and woke up to my husband looking for me. I felt like a different person..I got dinner on the table in 20 minutes and everyone went their separate ways and I finished up. Never had quite the same experience but I sure enjoyed that one..
It's funny cuz I was hoping I'd see a sneak kiss from Ben and Meg and I got it last video, now he carries her so she doesn't cut her feet!! Love it!! Your boys will be good husband's some day, the way they have learned gardening, animals, and showing how to treat a woman!! LOVE THIS!
I had a cousin that owned a golf course in Wisconsin. Milorganite was getting really expensive and he found out what it was REALLY made of. So he went to the municipal sewage department and got his own...... He said it was the best tomato crop he ever had :0) Too bad it was on the golf course
Pecan trees started budding out here in coastal Texas area. I have been watching my neighbors trees for weeks! I am in high gear getting the garden ready!!!!
Whenever my hands drop something breakable, I know my subconscious is telling me I'm too tired to do that particualr work. Really! Of course I'm 75, but then again, I also have enough experience to share this realization. Lilyanna is really becoming a great little worker on the homestead. God bless you all.
Another informative and Great video! So Glad Meg did not get cut with the glass and Mrs Moo cow is going to love her new grassy area when it grows! YES please make Buggy her own little tools All of the Family are such hard workers!
Nice work on the lawn trouble spot guys! With all the good "end product" from Daisy and Biscuit, plus the spent hay, that new grass seed is bound to help that area of the yard!! The spring rains will definitely help the seed to sprout and be a good patch of grass!! After Meg's long day working in the kitchen, it was so sweet to see Ben carry Meg across the shattered glass while he swept it up❣ Then the family bows their heads for the blessing, and eats a wonderful meal Meg prepared! That's what family life is meant to be! Love my Hollar family🥰
Ah Meg, sometimes you just have those days. Glad nobody got hurt on the glass. Last week I shattered the globe on my hurricane lamp while cleaning. That glass splintered into hundreds of tiny shards!
Nice way to build soil with the spent hay from the cows. Great, seeding into the spent hay that can hold it in place. Nice food Meg with the roasted potatoes, the bacon dogs, and the salad! Too bad about the gallon jar! I know those are harder to come by. Thanks for this video Hollar family!
I can't believe how big those boys have gotten. That beautiful baby how quickly she has sprouted up. I started following you when you had just left CA. All across the states and I thought then, what a fantastic education the children were getting. I cried like a baby when you and Ben found this property. You all have grown in, knowledge, and built such a strong love for each other. I love you and your personalities. That baby has her brothers and father wrapped around her little finger. What a help she soon will be Meg. God's blessings and hugs from your adopted 81-year-old Nan-Naw from Florida
In my learned experience, you must prepare a seed bed to grow grass. Putting seed on hard red clay will not work. Till the top 3-4 inches to provide for root development.
I live on the edge of a little town. I have a nice garden in my back yard and am about to turn my front yard into no till garden beds. I got free manure and wood chips delivered this week and my brother is bringing homemade compost. I’m so excited to have a bigger garden and less mowing. 🙂
You guys need a down day. Looking great around the yard; can't wait to see all the trees come in and hoping there isn't a cold snap. Fingers crossed. See ya next time beautiful family.
Meg I hate it when I have days like that. Good thing they don't come often. I hope tomorrow is a better day for you. Kick back & relax tonight. Ben you and the boys did a great job sowing that part of the yard let's hope every seed germinated and grows well.
Ben check out some of the ranching channels, they will take and roll out a bale for the cows, not only to feed them but to improve the pasture. The cows will eat what they want and can, they will mix the hay into the ground and whatever seeds were in the hay (exactly why they tell you not to use it for mulch in your garden) over just a year of doing this the ground is markedly improved in several ways. something to think about instead of making a compost pile you are composting in an area of the pasture.
Aww Sweet Meg,I new it was time to rest when the Spoon I was stirring the lrg Pot of Soup with came flying out of my hand and hit the Door across the room 🥴. Better Days ahead 💞 JO JO
Meg, I used to get my free gallon glass ( pickle) jars at some restaurant owners I knew don't know if the pickles come in glass or plastic jars now, but worth a try. Blessings to you all. 😊🇺🇲
Meat and potatoes was what my dad had to have for supper every night. Along with cooked veggies or coleslaw or a salad w/home made salad dress! Really we only had two kinds of salad dressing!
Loved buggy, and the boys and you working together, buggy is the formen. Lol Poor Meg jars breaking. Rest Rest , well at less Meg you had your Prince charming pick you up. Cute . 👍
Love to see soil improvement... AND using what you got. You've already brought your land such a long way. Hard work paying off. 👍 Blessings on you all. 🙏
Tip for grass growth : If you dry all these eggshells and pound it to tiny bits, use that on the area with (new) grass... that's what I use on my grass, and it's great, it provides for calcium.
@@heatherk8931 Grass thrives on it. I am dutch and don't know the word, but it also makes the earth more porous for the rain to get into the soil and the roots to get more oxygen.
PLEASE make a video of making Lily's own pitch fork!!!!!! It would be such a precious little thing to see!!! Especially after she just yelled out about not having her own to use. She absolutely LOVES to get dirty and help out around the farm, and get into the flour, lick the bowls and bake in the kitchen. One amazing little lady definitely needs her own size tools so she can get her hard day's work in too. Cindy Ings, NL, Canada.
Ben I'm in the Maritime Pac NW and our last deep freeze just ended, with temps in the mid 20's again and it's about to hit you! This storm left snow in SoCal and we got another few inches. So button up those strawberries and blueberries if you want fruit this year. We emptied the linen closet grabbing anything we could use to keep the snow and frost off of the buds when the first flurries started, and peeled things back when the highs were in the 40's. Buried things in mulch that were on the ground. Had minimal loss and we are back to our normal weather. A friend in Arkansas just had their temps plummet while out in the garden and thinks they will get sleet at least tonight, hence my posting here.
Meg… bless! You had a trying day. I am amazed how much you get done with a little one “helping”. I watch my 2 year old granddaughter during the week and somethings just have to wait until she goes home, especially things in the kitchen. She loves to help in the garden and with the chickens but cooking or canning, nope.
Hi Everyone! Your little Buggy is a work-a-holic. I think she loves being a good little helper. What a joyous blessing that you have in all your children. Love watching the family at work, & Mom & Dad, you both are such great teachers. Your Ky sub. 🙏 ♥
There are several ground covers that would be great for a hillside that will prevent erosion. Periwinkle is the first that comes to mind and it is evergreen with flowers.
Unless using a natural soap, a warm water rinse is usually enough to keep bacteria from penetrating inside the egg. Warm water closes the eggs pores to prevent contamination. Can also use warm water and a bit of bleach if that's your thing. I don't like chemicals on my eggs if I can help it.
And this too shall pass. Bad days pass, good days pass. Jars break but bellies are full. Seeds grow but some may be weeds. Y'all enjoy the journey. I enjoy watching. Thank you
I'm coming to North Carolina and renting the old farm house !!! YEP!!!!!! At least 10" of hard packed crusty snow here and no sign of my mud : ( SEE YOU SOON : D
I just love, love, love this family!! I grew up on a farm and this brings back so many sweet memories for me. Ben, you are a "country gentleman". I admire the way you and Meg are raising your children. It's unbelievable how different your family is than many others. You have country values...that NEVER ends for your children.
Be careful. The eggs will absorb the soap. That causes them not to keep well. Also, never scrub your eggs. It scratches the shell and allows bacteria in. I wash my eggs with my hand and slightly warm water. They keep for two months unrefrigerated on the counter. I've done this for 50+ years. Our board of health will not allow eggs to be sold if they have been exposed to soap. Buggy is so cute helping. 😍
Meg, I always thought Ben was a nice guy, a good husband, and a great dad, but when he picked you up out of the broken glass, carried you to a safe spot, and then cleaned up the mess, I cried. The little ways a good man says, "I love you!", without ever saying a word and teachs his son in the process to not only be real men, but to take care of their mother, sister, and their future wives. Ben, with two small acts of love and kindness caught, on video, to your wive thousands of women across the world just fell a little in love with you and know Meg to be one of the luckiest women in the world. God bless the two of you and your little family.
💖Nothing better than spending a day in the pasture with you Ben. Justin Rhodes was doing the same thing over at his place. Guess it is just that time of year. Hopefully you will have a beautiful pasture soon. Meg, oh Meg. Glad Ben is taking the boys for the evening so you can catch up on your sleep. 💤💤Take care Stay safe! ❇❇❇
If you will plant Lupine (legume), the soil will get correction by addition of nitrogen by the plant and IS edible by the animals. Add lime (glad to hear that's done), borrow a spike roller (aerator) for the tractor and aerate, plant lupine and allow to start, then overseed in pasture blend. Keep birds off it. THERE IS NO QUICK FIX. It will take 2-3 years to get it up to snuff enough to be sustainable feed for the cows. Talk to your local coop on how to proceed with your soil conditions. Mulch when you mow, DO NOT rake or remove the clippings, leave it to create the thatch (mulch) layer and build your soil.
Wonderful vlog but sorry you had a bit of a rough day, Meg🤗 great family progress, anyway! Here in Alberta, Canada, we still have cold & snow, so still doing inside household stuff. I may start some winter milk jug seeding next week. We can’t put plants out until late May. Blessings to all🤗💜🇨🇦
You know that TV series Yellowstone. Well, in one of the episodes, in the middle of the night, his enemies used helicopter's to drop bails of "clover" down into the fields of sleeping cattle. The next day, the rancher was informed that all of the cattle died. So I googled "why clover kills cows". Quite enlightening. You should look it up before you plant anymore. The rancher had to burn all of the fields bcos clover is very invasive and he had to wait until next spring/summer to see if any of it grew, before he would let the cattle graze in those fields.
I'm sure they don't realize it yet, but your kids are getting such an advantage over city kids. I wanna know if they are always quiet or just when dad is talking to the camera?

When my boys were teens, if I had boiled eggs in the fridge in a bowl, that was an after school snack. 2-3 at a time
How beautiful to see Ben pick Meg up and move her out of the broken glass and THEN he cleans up said glass!
I know! It brought tears to my eyes.
He has always done that every time I break glass. 🥰
He is a good example of how a father/ husband should be, Buggy will be on the lookout for someone similar and the boys will be wonderful spouses. Because they all see what works. Buggy is so dang smart and cute. Ben, that was sweet that you carried Meg out of the glass and cleaned it up. Teaching your boys how to treat a woman.

@@heatherk8931 Grass thrives on it. I am dutch and don't know the word, but it also makes the earth more porous for the rain to get into the soil and the roots to get more oxygen.
God bless you Meg, sleep well. Ben and the boys did a good job, Buggy was a big help and ya'll can rest under the wings of the Almighty.
We live in town but I refuse to grow a lawn. Right now all the little flowers are starting to bloom in the lawn. The bees love them.

I have those kinda days too Meg ❤
Unless using a natural soap, a warm water rinse is usually enough to keep bacteria from penetrating inside the egg. Warm water closes the eggs pores to prevent contamination. Can also use warm water and a bit of bleach if that's your thing. I don't like chemicals on my eggs if I can help it.
And this too shall pass. Bad days pass, good days pass. Jars break but bellies are full. Seeds grow but some may be weeds. Y'all enjoy the journey. I enjoy watching. Thank you
Meg, if your farm fresh eggs aren't too old going into the refrig, they last more like 4 months. Not premo but still just fine to eat and cook with.
I'm coming to North Carolina and renting the old farm house !!! YEP!!!!!! At least 10" of hard packed crusty snow here and no sign of my mud : ( SEE YOU SOON : D
It was fun seeing the kids all out helping dad with no easy chore. Even Buggy was out helping!❤👍
Perfect video. Bless you young people teaching us all how a family should live and work together. BEAUTIFUL. 🥰🇦🇺
Ben you carrying Meg over the broken glass was so sweet, glad she did not cut herself. The dinner looked delicious. Have a great day.
I just love, love, love this family!! I grew up on a farm and this brings back so many sweet memories for me. Ben, you are a "country gentleman". I admire the way you and Meg are raising your children. It's unbelievable how different your family is than many others. You have country values...that NEVER ends for your children.
Coolest family on You tube!
❤ what y’all doing. The family is happy and well deserved. You and Meg are pretty good people
Hi..... Meg and Ben and nice to see you all love watching your videos homestead, 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 👕🐔🐓🐣🐥🦃🐈🐄🐖🌱🌺🌹🌻🌼🌸🌷🏡🎥👍👍👍
I can imagine those leftovers with eggs for breakfast sounds the best brekky ever. Poor Meg, ive been there, dropping and breaking things 😢 ❤🙏💐
Blessings to all🤗💜🇨🇦
She NEEDS a pitchfork! Tell ‘em, Sister. 💗
I can't wait to see buggy's new "pitchfork "!
You know that TV series Yellowstone. Well, in one of the episodes, in the middle of the
night, his enemies used helicopter's to drop bails of "clover" down into the fields of sleeping
cattle. The next day, the rancher was informed that all of the cattle died. So I googled
"why clover kills cows". Quite enlightening. You should look it up before you plant anymore.
The rancher had to burn all of the fields bcos clover is very invasive and he had to wait
until next spring/summer to see if any of it grew, before he would let the cattle graze
in those fields.
Buggy is growing up so fast.. She is a cutie…
Meg - we all have those days. You did great! Buggy is adorable, and I love seeing all of the kids get involved and help. Blessings!
