- The beginning of an in-depth teaching series on the calendar, answering the primary objections against the “lunar sabbath.” This lesson covers the new moon in general (in scripture) and the Hebrew phrase “Rosh Chodesh.”

I know the title of this has to do with testing the testers of the LS (like me). However, I thought this video gave some great refutations of calendars that use the sun for months, like the pseudo-Zadok calendar. There is one thing I would like to mention related to the LS, though:
You cite Numbers 29:1-6, which gives offering requirements for Yom Teruah:
“Beside the burnt offering of the month, and his meat offering, and the daily burnt offering, and his meat offering, and their drink offerings, according unto their manner.” (Num. 29:6)
“Beside.” This wording makes sense given that *every first of the seventh month* is a new moon anyway. Yom Teruah is a special new moon which has additional offerings *besides* those at regular new moons.
Why, then, if the first day of Unleavened and Booths always allegedly fall on the 15th, do we not have a similar statement, such as:
“Beside the burnt offering of every Sabbath….”
I’ll tell you why: because the 15th is not always a Sabbath. This is a good internal clue against the false LS doctrine.

Thank you for your insights into the study of the new moons. It seems to me -without having any agenda or social restriction- the new moon is now, and will be after we leave this earthly life, to be celebrated with Yah.

Beautiful presentation, brother Matthew. Very well organized and addresses the key points that others use to eliminate the moon from time keeping. As being relatively new to the faith compared to other brothers and sisters (about 4 years now), it surprises me how the more advanced teachers will completely skip over the points you mentioned here, despite how in-depth they will go on matters such as biblical cosmology and Torah keeping. Outside of the “Babylonian moon worship” point, I have heard some say the moon is “insignificant” in keeping time and that those who use the moon for Sabbaths are “lunatics”. I know that everyone has topics they struggle with, and Yah will open our eyes to see the complete Word in due time, but it is interesting to see how this topic in Scripture is glossed over completely for the apocryphal understanding of time keeping (Jubilees and Enoch), which may be misinterpretation or misunderstanding. So, “by implication” does that mean the new moon would be the beginning of a new month?
My confusion: Sabbath is 7th day. Abba's creation was 6 days, and he rested on the 7th. Which has meant to me consecutively and consistently a 7 day cycle.
I see no problem with observing new moons and honoring them, not at all. My confusion is with the new moon defining the Sabbaths when i observe a break in consistent 7 day cycle in LS(???) Forgive my jumping in here, please. I'm sure other questions will come up for me, but this is the main issue for me in understanding.

Yes, I think that’s what James Strong was getting at; the new moon begins the month.
I’ll eventually get around to addressing the “work 6 days rest the 7th.” I do believe and adhere to that practice, I just don’t think it demands a never-ending unbroken cycle.

An SDA preacher on youtube said chodesh just simply means month, and NEVER the 1st day of the month alone. So I asked one simple question. Ezekiel 46:1 refers to the new moon (first day of the month) as new moon DAY, so what DAY of the month is that??? He never answered back, after going back and forth earlier about other parts of the calender. That verse specifically says that the new moon is a 1 day period in regards to the beginning of the month. Yah bless
“New moon” is not mentioned in the Torah portion of the KJV.
The other mentions are mostly a bad translation. Always new month.
Deuteronomy 17:1-5 gives the death penalty for using the moon for any of our Creators Holy days.
If you're going to do a series on following the moon, then why wouldn't you start the series with defining what a new moon is?
My friend is of the belief that the new moon is the full moon. He backs it up with scripture reference that uses the word "full moon".
So, in my opinion, if you're teaching that the 1% Cresent moon is the scriptural new moon, then there needs to be a book, chapter, and verse that states:
1. What a new moon is
2. How to sight one
3. Who sighted one
4. Begin counting your weeks after you've sighted one

They omitted full moon is new moon in the kjv. Enoch 78 12-13 will tell you when new moon is full moon 100% illuminated end of fourth watch

Genesis 26:5. Abraham was already keeping the seventh day sabbath even before Yah's law was re-given at Mt. Sinai!!! Yah told the Israelites, "Remember" the 7day sabbath!!! He had to remind them of it for they had forgotten it or just simply ignored it, or just couldn't keep as they were slaves required to work all days.
Provide a book, chapter, and verses of
1: an example of anyone sighting a moon for months 2: what authority is given to what man, and where to sight it
3: what exactly is a new moon, some say all black, some say 1,2,3%, the left side, the right side, both sides, who is correct about that and where is it in scripture?
4. where is the 13 month in scripture?

Thank you for your teaching. So the full moon in the US right now it’s June 21st, in Israel it’s June 22nd. How do we know if we are to follow our “local” full moon or the one viewed in Israel?
You’re welcome… we use local time for our calendar. It wouldn’t even be possible to use Jerusalem time apart from modern technology, and Scripture teaches we can keep the Torah while in exile (Deuteronomy 30:1-2) and that it’s not too difficult or beyond the sea (Deut. 30:11-14). It makes the most sense to us to look up and follow what Yah shows us in the heavens.
@@emjmncExactly! When Paul kept New Moon on his journeys, he had no way of verifying what was going on in Israel/Jerusalem at the time. He would have based his commemoration on what he saw in the sky above him, and so should we!

Does scripture contradict scripture? Or could it be that jubilees isn’t really scripture.. after all it does say to stone someone who fasts on the sabbath.. Moses did it, messiah did it.
