- LOOK at this classic 1970 Arcade Machine we sold working but as-is to a local collector. He just picked it up and his two young sons were very excited! LOOK at the neat mechanics inside....incredible AMERICAN engineering here! Watch!!
What a fantastic machine and you really have to admire its construction. Thanks for sharing!
You're welcome!
Those were great games, I loved going into the game room and spending a roll of quarters on them, The Sub games were always very cool, and I loved the sounds they made. The arcade room was always loud and people were always in there yelling and talking,
Oh, man, this brings me back... Bicycling to the local Trifty's for 5 cent ice cream cones and EM games!! 😋
I´ve never seen you so excited about a machine before! Awesome video!
I LOVE great stuff!
Wow does this bring back the memories.
Yes it does!
That is an awesome game! It's amazing how they figured out how to engineer the thing. All of those relays. That really is cool. $650 is a steal.
It's a great game for a tinkerer, who will take all those mechanisms apart and carefully clean them. Then it will run forever!
Thanks for sharing this. I don't think I'd ever be able to sell that machine.
Absolutely amazing the amount of engineering that went into those classic E/M games. If I had that game I'd probably never leave the house! Thanks for another great video guys. Semper Fi!
Thank you Chris!
650 I assume these are worth money now. I saw a 1969 midway sea raider for sale it was working and was in pretty decent shape they wanted 2500 I guess these machines are getting up there. Such a brilliant idea the designer had!
Ok, I'm sitting here with a grin on my face.., I found this video of this old time machine and it just made me stop in my tracks! I played this game when I was a kid at the WOOLWORTH store in my old neighborhood, I played every quarter I had in that machine.., What a treat to see this video and watch the workings of it as you brought back my childhood memories. If you find this posting, just know that you made my day!
I am always amazed at the level of engineering that went into the construction of those classic electromechanical arcade games. And all that engineering effort was available to anyone with a quarter. Thanks for another great review guy's. Always a pleasure watching your videos.
Es un verdadera belleza de maquina, verla por dentro y mirar esa magnifica construcion, debe ser una gozada jugar en ella en un cuarto obscuro.
Here is the translation:
It is a true beauty machine, you look inside and see this magnificent built, should be a blast to play it in a dark room.
And my response!
Absolutely...a true hidden work of art!
and the translation:
¡Por supuesto! Una verdadera obra oculta de arte!
Cool
If you know of anyone looking for a good working Sea Devil let me know. I have one I would possibly sell. I am not sure what they are going for these days.
they dont make them like they used to :)
I have been searching and searching for a mechanical arcade game to no avail. Bear with me as I attemp to explain it from 35 year old childhood memories... The game had two guns if I remember correctly (I believe they were light guns) , and the guns were similar to a light anti-aircraft gun on a ship. There were planes (and maybe boats) scrolling from one side to another, and Im pretty sure the targets were moving above water (I could be mistaken on this detail). Not sure if this detail helps, but Im almost positive the distance between the guns and the screen was not entirely enclosed. Might you have any idea what this game is/was? I last played it in good ol 1984 in Horicon, WI. Ahhh, the golden age of arcade games...
I was thinking of this game Flying Fortress but it was a one player game.

Thanks for the reply, but sadly thats not the one. I wanna say there was a good 4-6 feet from where the guns were mounted and the screen itself. It was a massive contraption with really loud booming speakers during explosions. Quite the impressive fixture to the arcade I remember playing it in! Again, thanks for the reply!
Continue your search here www.klov.com and maybe you will find it!
I remember playing this at Safeway back around 1969 and I was about 8
Holy BALLS! Analog CGI!! I remember playing this as a kid and marveling at how the encapsulated such an amazing experience into 25-cents.
How many folded movie posters is this worth? LOL
:-)
Absolutely AMAZING! My buddy just got Sea Wolf - love it - but this game is such a 1 of a kind gem, too.
That was the very first arcade game I ever played. It was at "Lagoon" amusement park in Utah. 1970's.
I played that game as a kid! I remember the row of flashing lights towards the moving ships! How cool!
I remember playing games like that when I was young and I always wondered what they looked like inside.
I didn't expect to say this, but I'm blown away with this smart old tech! 😳
Wow! 🤩
Primo Creme de la Creme video, Todd!
Todd that machine is awesome! I want one now
It is certainly a neat game!
This games, look expensive maintain or restore
But look fantastic and retro
That is laid out like a work of art. And I LOVE that old typesetting/font.
Now that's what you call an arcade game...... Not a video game.
The glory of a folded poster in one classic machine!
Ahhhhh!!!
I played this Game in Matlock Bath UK in the 1970s
All that solid state!!. Replace with a PLC, some servo motors, red LEDS, reed switches, BUT keep the sounds. I have seen a Sea wolf 2.. and thought WTF is this?!. Not a patch on the original. And yes..what is the current exchange rate of dollars, to MINT posters?
Well, Michael Joe thinks his mint folded movie posters are worth a fortune...maybe he'll swap two or three for ym Sea Devil!
If I cold find one of these I’d enjoy the heck out of it
So you said 650 - was that in folded MINT movie posters? I mean, this is a Sea DEVIL, it's gotta fetch a higher movie poster value than some ol Sea Wolf. =)
M - I - N - T but folded!
Very cool
and we swapped this for vector graphics type games, i guess it wasnt better, it was just easier doing the whole thing with the crt. this is a completely dif exp.
This was pretty amazing for its time...and looking at the quality and the hardware, it is amazing it works so well!
I remember playing this as a kid as well as the (less cool) CRT version. Would love to have one. Thank you for the trip down memory lane.
Glad you enjoyed the video!
I e always wanted one of these
What classical music were you playing at the beginning of the video???
It was 8 years ago, and I don;t remember...it was available as copyright free.
Love watchin your Vids.. So whats up with the Reality Show???/ SOMEONE needs to pick that up for sure.....
I am waiting!! We are ready!!! Making these videos in the meantime!!
Awsome.... I love your style.. Good Luck... Im posting yiur links on all my social media..
Ugha!!! I read sea wolf and almost jumped out of my seat... Darn it!
I admit after watching this... What an amazing machine. Its an unbelievable piece of equipment. Looks like its in good working order as well!
this machine is totally awesome ! almost cyber punk ! Do you have to oil the chain ?? :D
Yes...chain would be either oiled or greased but lightly....I think originally it was a dry system, as the smoke from the arcades would clog up the grease. But in private home, it would run quieter for sure!
Reminds me of an old game they had up on a wall that nobody every played but you'd aim a shotgun like item at it and it was sorta like Duck hunt but it was almost all black (and big as it was usually hung on a wall but have no idea what it was called. Baumgartners in Monroe WI used to have it up there think one other bar had it but that one didn't work. (talking like mid 80's here or earlier... that bar rarely have games there as it is. Dart games yes little else except the money on the ceiling and the nice note I can't say here :P money is still there though :) baumgartnercheese.com/
Yes...I remember them!
have a clue what they were called?? and again I rarely saw people play them. dad had us once try it but hat to pay for it at the bar to get the gun
love antiques :) always wanted an old standup 78 player with the felt bottom. but the above game o_O wow. never heard of that one.....
yes...I have one of those...
I have the 78's. most of them from late granpa's attic and clearly the top one was near a leak in the roof. but it still plays. managed to record them to cd before he passed.
Oh gosh! A relic of my youth!!!!! It was at Time-Out in Rochester New York. So much fun. It pains me to ask... but how much did you sell it for? (I'm bracing for impact).
The man I sold it to took it as it was...working but not restored...for $800.
OH! I would have paid 1K... Your videos are top notch btw!
Thanks!
Great video on an extremely well kept version of a rare electro-mechanical game, the last one Midway put out before moving to video screens with Seawolf and Seawolf II. Excellent stuff! The collector who bought it got a great deal no matter what it cost!
Great game
FABULOUS!!!!
I love seeing inside these classics electro mechanical arcade games. I also can't wait for the Sea Wolf Guy III video
its coming
A real gem! Thanks for sharing.
You're welcome!
sea wolf 3 sucks no periscope
yes...it must have been too much maintenance!
It is amazing how much went into the design of this game. Most of us who grew up playing games like this only got to see them from the front. I can't believe all the motors and lights going on "behind the scenes", so to speak. While I spent most of my quarters on Sea Wolf, I am greatly impressed by what a marvel of engineering this unit is. You did an amazing job on this one!
kewoods99 I am surprised at the ingenuity of Midway with these games too! So many people putting their thoughts into a commercial unit, when so many have not be able to see and appreciate the genius of the actual design!
Thank you for showing us this game Todd .... These mechanical games are interesting ... SO NEAT-O
Glad you enjoyed this video!
Looks awfully hard to maintain lol
well, that's the downside of mechanical games! This is why we do not retail them!
This game was featured (for a few seconds) in the movie "Heavy Traffic" (at about 36 minutes in)
Great piece of Trivia! Thanks!
SEA WOLF HYPE !
Oh, yes!!
Amazing!
:-)
Wow...what a gem
I'm shedding a nostalgic tear.
:-)
I always liked the mechanical games!
+coreym76 They do have a growing following.
This is great. Thank you for posting it
Potarnul You're welcome! Glad you liked it!
