Aomori is such a wonderful place with the deep history and festivals. Nebuta Festival and Sakura in Hrosaki Castle both are No. 1 in Japan . Sukayu Hot Spring, Jogakura bridge, Hakkoda range, Oirase Gorge and Towada lake. World heritage, Shirakami Sanchi twelves lake, Anmon falls are so beautiful are all breathtaking. You will find other beautiful natures innHachinohe area, Tanesashi Seaside natural lawn, etc. You can eat he most delicious Tsuna in Oma at Shimokita peninsula. Please don’t forget to see Hotokegaura taking the sightseen boat from Sai Village to Hotokegaurs. Ther are many other places to go in Aomori, just endless. I love Aomori!
The way you describe Aomori sounds so good, thank you very much for it. We will spend 3 weeks in Tohoku next March, but wont be visiting Aomori, because what we wanted to do and experience there is "closed" in winter or not ideal in winter. We wish to visit Hokkaido on one of our next trips to Japan (in May 2026 or 2027), and I guess that would be a good time to include time in Aomori ? Is it possible to visit those places by public transport ? We both dont drive. Also, we dont speak Japanese, but we have so far always managed wonderfully with apps and kind people.
@@swissfoodie3542 Yes I think spring season is nice. But I think the best is the Nebuta festival in summer. Also because bullet train goes only to Hakodate, in Hokkaido it takes time to go there from Sapporo in Hokkaido.
I am a big Dormy Inn fan 🙂. The rooms are usually bigger than in other business hotels, I like the free ramen after 21h30 and the breakfast buffet. And the best part for me, are the baths (mostly indoor and outdoor) which are open all night. I am a very bad sleeper, and when I wake up at 2am, going to the outdoor bath and being the only person there, is absolute bliss.
Btw: I find it so nice to see business women and men going comfortable for once, and instead of wearing a suit, wearing the pyjamas provided in the Dormy Inns when going for breakfast or the free ramen

You're a dormy pro! I love their pajamas, so comfy. They even sell those
