- In this talk, Rakhi Sharma (Software Engineer at Igalia) runs through the history of the Servo project and the benefits it gains from being written in Rust.
Servos is a web rendering engine that was created in 2012, and has since evolved to become part of the Linux Foundation Europe. It combines memory safety and concurrency to create an independent, modular, and embeddable web engine that adheres to web standards.
In her insightful talk, Rakhi covers the benefits that Rust brings to Servo and take a deep dive into the technical developments going on in the project. At the end, she'll run through how Servo is changing the browser experience through projects like Minibrowser, and share how viewers can get involved in the project.
