When I was in my early 20's (fifty years ago...how did that happen???) I was in my purple phase. Everything I wore, all accessories, everything, purple. Over the years I drifted away from purple but every time I watch your videos and see your purple stash wall I remember how much I love purple and have decided to enter Purple Phase II, to be expressed via knitting. So, thank you for reminding me of the beauty of purple. Also, I have been wanting to knit hot water bottle covers as gifts for friends and family, so when your pattern is available, you have one sale guaranteed. 🙂
That’s amazing! I wonder if my purple phase will last. I hope so! Glad you are returning to it more with your knitting. I hope it brings you joy. And thank you for the kind words and vote of confidence re: the hot water bottle cover! This is just want I needed to get the gumption to cast on my second sample.
@@rachelisknitting OK...I'll make you a deal: you design the hot water bottle cover and I'll buy the pattern and knit it in purple. And YOU get to recommend the yarn and the shade of purple. 🙂
Like others have said, I too found your podcast about your Scotland trip and just loved it! You do such a good job covering the feeling of the trip - loved the food descriptions! So now I’m watching your podcast and am a fan! Priscilla
Hi Rachel! I just found your podcast with your Scotland trip videos, which I am loving. And now, I am watching this as the first episode of your regular podcast. And wow! You love PURPLE! Me TOO!! Purple is one of those Love It or Hate it colors, and there doesn’t seem to be anything in between. I love, love, love purple. Nice to find a kindred spirit. Your podcast is fun! I really enjoyed it. I’ll definitely be seeing you again.
Hi Rachael - I am one of your new subscribers and I am Kathie from Aus who was on the Shetland knitting tour. I have just finished watching the 3 videos that you have uploaded and have really enjoyed the recap of the tour. I was having camera issues and didn’t end up with many photo memories so was very grateful for your content - thankyou very much 🌸🌸
Kathie!!! So great to hear from you! I’m glad you’re enjoying the recaps. If you email me I can scrounge up some photos to send you. My email is rachelisknitting@gmail.com.
I’m a crocheter, not a knitter, but I got this video recommended to me and I knew I had to check it out. It’s been super interesting to listen to in the background while I’m making my first ever blanket. I’m so impressed with ANY knitting but the stuff you’ve shown has blown me away. I started crocheting about 9 months ago and now I’m thinking I should’ve chosen to knit instead because it just looks so cool! It seems like you’ve built a super supportive community. Hope I’m not too late, I’m sure I’ve missed some stuff, but I hope I can catch up along the way!
Hi! Welcome! So glad you’re here 💜 I learned to crochet in 2008, and it was only about a year later that I picked up knitting. It doesn’t have to be one vs. the other. Both are amazing! Do what feels right for you!
@@rachelisknitting Wow! That’s a long time! I actually bought a set of circular needles hoping I could start knitting because of all the beautiful patterns. I really tried my best but I ended up putting everything back in the package and sending them back. I totally forgot about the frustration that comes with learning something new and how much patience crochet required at the beginning. Hopefully at some point though! Edit: I do agree though that they’re both amazing and I’m super happy with how far I’ve come with crochet. I’ll stick to crochet and continue to (hopefully) improve my crochet skills.
Rachel! Who knew? Wish you had talked more on the trip. You are a hoot and I did enjoy you on the trip…purple Rachel you will always be to me. I’m still waiting for my lemongrass wrist spinners.
I’m so glad I got to meet you Holly!! You’re the coolest! Looking forward to staying in touch. You’ll love your wrist spinner; hopefully worth the wait!
Just stopping by to let you know I’m so glad you showed up in my feed! So love your authenticity and love for fiber. We are going to Scotland 8/3 for a couple weeks and I’ve loved hearing about your prep for it as well as the post trip info. Blessings to you and great 20th episode!
Hi hi! Wearing my knitting belt right now, I never took it off after my lunch knitting sesh. 😂 Miss seeing you and all of the Scotland peeps. I’m holding tight to those memories by binging Shetland but am also looking forward to your recap for a chance to re-live all the goodness. ❤
Once I’m done with the sweater I’m working on, I want to cast on one of the hats I got the yarn and pattern for! Then we will be matching belt wearers!! Glad I’m not alone in missing it; it was such an AMAZING EXPERIENCE!
Oh my, those singles are looking good! It is perfectly normal to have in the moment favorite fibers and as you have more fibers go through your fingers you will develop absolute favorites. I notice you like diaries and note. I encourage you to keep a spinning diary because it will serve you well when you get to the point of looking for certain properties a wool you have spun in the past has. (I'm going to let that dangle).
Hi I just find your podcast on you are in Scotland...amazing . I would love to make such a amazing and lovely trip.. i am watching you from where I live in south Africa...is this a fully organized with hotels and ferry's ?? All in one...where can I find this information..thanks.
Glad you found me! This tour includes hotels and transportation during the tour. It’s amazing! If you’d like to join me on future tours, be sure to sign up for my email list. Link is in the video description!
I was raised Evangelical and grew up heavily involved in that, but I have since deconstructed and am no longer religious Because of all this, I have some complicated and painful feelings about my faith background. 💜
@@rachelisknitting I’m so sorry to hear that. I know there are many people that have come to that place. Having grown up the same and seeing the ugly side of a few ministries and pastors, I’ve finally come to accept that while as believers we are the church, we are still sinful people who hurt others constantly. I think you are a very thoughtful and lovely person and I pray for peace and joy as you work through your feelings. I’m always a willing ear if you ever want to talk ❤️

@@rachelisknitting Great! No rush...sometime this year or in 2025. It matters not to me. No pressure. 🙂
I love those tweed buttons!! They’re perfect on your Miles Shirt Jacket. 😍
Thank you! I'm super happy with them!
Loved it! Those buttons are incredible!! Grittir is gonna be so good!!
I am itching to get the Grettir off the blocking boards but I'm trying to hold strong so it gets the full flat time!

I love, love, love fuchsias. I have a mite resistant beauty called Galfrey Lye.
That variety of fuchsia is just stunning!
