Clearly sleep deprived Scar and Wels terraforming a cave was so wholesome and great. I'm so glad the Hermita are asking each other for help this season rather than sticking it out on their own. Also, Wels' laugh is infectious. Thanks for another banger episode, I'm loving this season!
Can I just say that it's really cool to see Scar at work with decorating. So often he's that fun and whimsical guy, but seeing him and his eye for decorating was such a cool side of Scar to see.
I remember same last season when he was teaching impulse decorating terrain for his mountain gradient. Hos explain voice and prank voice are like 2 different people
Especially since Scar tends to do before and after shots of his builds, i noticed it with the "elven twirl" at the start of season 9. I understand not a builds are easy to timelapse or do in real time with the audience, but cutting from nothing to finished obscures the process behind how he makes his beautiful builds. It makes it nice when we see him helping others become better builders, and the audience can come along for the ride and learn.
@jasonreed7522 I would like to see a scar second channel where he uploads the build process, almost like a vod but yk I doubt he streams the more intricate builds

I loved the design process with Scar. You two bouncing ideas off each other was so cool to watch. I feel like we don't usually get a peek into that side of things.
I really like that you took the cave roof build in a direction that didn't rely on spamming plants. It feels very realistic the way it was textured, shaped, and detailed.
this is my first season watching Wels and he's quickly becoming one of my favourites, too I love the higher energy bits from a lot of the other hermits, but sometimes that more laid back style is exactly what I need. Wels, Xb, Beef, X and such are so perfect for that

time to be honest ... never saw Welsknight's content but this hermit permit idea was soooo good and gave a good reason to just check everyone again and I was hooked well done you gained a subscriber and a regular viewer such a good concept and such a good episode ..... Thank you
Wels, just an FYI about the copper bulbs in case you haven't learned this since: a redstone signal toggles the copper bulb on and off, rather than actively powering it. Once you use a redstone power source, as you saw, you can remove the source entirely and have the bulb stay lit. You only need to power it again if you want to turn it off. It is essentially a T flip-flop in a single block. 😊
A part of me died when Scar said he has never played Zelda, but awesome cave Wels. If I could make a recommendation, maybe various stone walls and iron bars may be better stalactites than the drip stone. That color has always been hard to use and effectively incorporate into builds, but walls and iron bars are a good neutral solution.
I think what's Scar is saying about the Stalagtites is , instead of the pointy block itself, you make a bigger stalagtite shape out of stone. Another suggestion to make it even better is to combine stalagmite and stalagtite shapes to make cave columns.
I think having the floor be completely clean looks better than the addition of any stalagmites for this particular build. It would be nice if Minecraft had a bit more options for tapering from blocks to dripstone. Imagine if dripstone could work like stairs and 4 dripstone in a square on the same X would become a single column of dripstone centered around the shared corner... Also, minor side note: When hanging from a ceiling the term is stalactite, with a c. (I only know this because I used to use the 'g' in stalagmite to associate it as the pointy things coming from the ground and the 'c' in stalactite to associate with the pointy things coming from the ceiling.)
@olisani1864 I'm not talking about the floors, Im talking about putting it in the water areas. The floors can stay as is or texture it a little bit . But anyway , that's just my opinion.
@@jasonmolisani1864 Again, I wasnt talking about the floors. There's no need to put rocks on it in the first place, so I have no idea where you keep thinking that im talking about the floors for no reason.

You hit my claustrophobia perfectly with the cave bits that come down. I have never been this uncomfortable looking at such a good looking storage room lol
The trouble with the storage room is your super organized chests contrast with the organics you are trying to get for the ceiling. It's super hard to go from organic to square convincingly. You would have needed to offset chests into cubbies and such for a more cave feel.
Wels just change the spruce planks under the chests for item block indicators. for example all the stone you use cobble as indicator. To minimize the item frame usage
imho wels, what ur kinda mising from ur cave is that the dripstone were hanging on the stone so the colors look mismatch. Maybe youcloud replace the dripstone on the stone with stone wall and iron bar to get the same effect as dripstone with different color.
i think some horizontal stripped spruce support beams would look fantastic in spots, as if they had to make space for the room and make sure it didn't cave in when moving in. a few glowberries wouldn't be amiss either (and you can shear them so they don't grow beyond one block if you want to) and they'd add just a little pop of color in the corners. or maybe a few bricked up spots that just look like it's repaired and a few fences in the cracks? or some mud blocks around the bottom of the well and in the corners to make it look real damp!! also i'm all for a symmetrical room but with the organic shapes it clashes a little between the styles. maybe open up a wall and make it a pocket room with a lower ceiling or make one of the ponds flow into an area outside the storage room like it's a little broken up and dark and damp? just some ideas!!
That was a bit jawdropping seeing Wels getting scar actually show another side you seldom see. The professional builder mode side, or as I would call it, the Hermitcraft Bob Ross Mode. Calm and relaxed, while putting blocks down, just like the former painter.
I like how Iskall didn't once mentioned that Beef took his horse in retaliation for him breaking Beef's house, after repeated attempts from Beef to make him stop.
The roof looks really good. I think it needs some mossy cobblestone and moss to make it look like an overgrown lush cave type of thing. That's what I always imagine when I think of a Smuggler's cove because it would be near water and the water would cause lots of algae and stuff like that. Having some glow berry vines would also help and maybe some spore blossoms.
Wells acting like a mediator between Beef and Iskall reminded me of two things: 1. A kindergarten teacher hearing out two kids who just played pretend and something went wrong so now he has to hear them out so they don't fight for real 2. A divorce lawyer on a meeting with his clients that are finally divorcing after years of doing shit to annoy each other.
Side point here: I have no idea how right he was, but Louis L'amour's explanation of the reasoning behind the hanging for horse thieves laws was that in a largely unsettled area where your only method of transportation was your feet or your horse, having your horse stolen could easily result in you dying--you'd be more or less stranded, quite possibly without the means to provide your own food, water and shelter.
I have to admit, I like it when we hear Wels's dog bark in the background and hope to hear it more throughout the season, even if you use the bark as an "end scene" bit. It could be a running gag/meme. 🐶

The glow lichen just helped so much. I like the storage area. I think it could maybe use more dripstone blocks to help the pointed dripstone blend with the stone.
It was so cool to see you work together with Scar on this awesome cave build! I think the only other entities you could add would be axolotls in one pond and some fish in another (that way the axys don't eat them all!). It's been fun seeing this fortress come together this season Wels!

The only little detail you could add to the ceiling of your smugglers cave, is to add some pockets of water in the ceiling above the pools so you get the water dripping particles, would be a nice small detail
It's nice seeing a Scar + Wels collab! You two were the duo back in the day! It's been a long time. Last time I remember was building a bridge in season 4 together.
"Cave addition idea"... hanging roots from rooted dirt found under azalea trees... a few hanging from the top spread out from the well hole edge toward the drip stone like a bit of life coming through the ground would be a nice touch.
I wound up using barrels and relevant blocks in the floor to "label" my storage area instead of chests and item frames. I do prefer the look of the latter, but I was getting too much lag. That Smuggler's Cove looks great! It's fun that you got Scar to help out, I learned from both of you. Thanks for showing the process!
Love the colab to finish up the storage room. It's really cool to get an additional pair of eyes on your build, and still have it be your own vision in the end!
I feel like with that roof in your storage room, the flooring needs to be a little less perfect. Maybe you could have some oddities with some slabs being a half block lower, some waterlogged stairs?
That was amazing watching you work with Scar on your ceiling. You two were so calm and slowly putting it all together. It was amazing watching it come together. Great to see you back with the hermitcraft crew Welsknight!
Your storage room is looking *gorgeous* Wels! It really evokes the feeling of being underground. I wonder what shop you're going to make with the permits you have, too.
I super love the Cavestorage and also the video segment. Watching the thoughtprocess was super interesting! I just feel like there could be some stalagtites and stalagmites connected to each other. Right now there is a lot of "mass" hanging from the ceiling without support structures.
The storage room is looking fantastic! I was thinking while watching that the pointed drip stone should be grouped over the water pools. On the outer edges nearer the chests maybe pull in some more man made tuff brick blocks to look like it’s been worked on to eliminate water leakage above the walkways.
Storage room roof looking good I would suggest some of the hanging roots in a few places the colour would go perfect with the dripstone and add another natural element without going down the lush route.
Fun fact BUD stands for block update detection and it was discovered by Etho a long time ago way before Mojang incorporated it as a feature in the game.
that storage room looks so good!! one suggestion is that, you could use jungle wood planks behind the chests instead, as they would look very similar to the mud bricks. I know that Pearl has many jungle trees.
I think a few full pillars in the storage room going from the water to the roof would be a nice additional but of variety. And some dried plants from the desert for more detail perhaps.
Maybe some more mossy cobble around the larger dripstones as it's where damp has accumulated and encourage moss growth? And sparing use of vines and glowberry vines to enforce the dampness?
Clearly sleep deprived Scar and Wels terraforming a cave was so wholesome and great. I'm so glad the Hermita are asking each other for help this season rather than sticking it out on their own. Also, Wels' laugh is infectious. Thanks for another banger episode, I'm loving this season!

In the Smuggler's Cave you could put Ore's in the ceiling if you wanted more stuff to add to it.
I think a few full pillars in the storage room going from the water to the roof would be a nice additional but of variety. And some dried plants from the desert for more detail perhaps.
Always loving the interactions! The cave is absolutely amazing.
Maybe some more mossy cobble around the larger dripstones as it's where damp has accumulated and encourage moss growth? And sparing use of vines and glowberry vines to enforce the dampness?
the tuft really made the difference on the cave ceiling. looks good.
I love the color pallet of the whole storage room!
It's been so long since I've gotten to watch a Wels video. I'm so happy that I can right now
