    1. Sing the choral once as written.
    2. All begin on "Komm" and sustain the chord for 4 seconds and - without a break sing first 2 measures according to the following scheme: Choir A holds each quarter-note for 4 seconds, other choirs: B-6, C-8, D-10, E-12 seconds. (Divide SATB in 5 in each group).
    3. When you get to "Tod" sustain your note until all are singing their note on "Tod".
    4. Sopranos begin 2nd phrase, holding the E flat for 4 seconds before the ATB enter simultaneously, and everyone sings the 2nd phrase according to the scheme, sustaining your note on "Ruh" until all are singing their note on "Ruh".
    5. All begin measure 5 together and sing according to the scheme, holding the final note until all are singing their note on "-de". The chord will be sustained with the fermata.
    6. Scale the dynamics:
    Begin pp and increase to forte by measure 5.
    Then begin a gradual decrescendo, ending the piece pianissimo.
    The piece will last approx. 5 minutes.
    English translation:
    Come, sweet death,
    come, blessed rest!
    Come lead me to peace.

    • @SheetMusicVideo
      @SheetMusicVideo  8 лет назад +12

      I semi-agree. The original composition says "arranged by Knut Nysted" on the score. Maybe it was Knut's little tribute to Bach and perhaps he didn't want to overstep his compositional mark - so he chose "arranged by".

      +Miguel Astor
      Nystedt is just "freezing" all original chords so that they overlap and slowly reapear at the end of each phrase. It is not an "original" composition...it is actually an original arrangment of the Bach's Chorale. So I think "arranged" is correct in this case. It is NOT an original composition.

    • @miguelastor1
      @miguelastor1 8 лет назад +4

      +riccardo nova I respect your opinion but I disagree. This is a musical composition like "theme and variations" model as so many examples in music history. The composer procedure generates a work full of original sounds . Only the criterion of composer legitimize it as a musical arrangement, for me.

    I don't understand why the arranger's instructions involve counting "seconds." Since when is music measured in seconds, not beats? Who is making sure everyone's mental seconds are accurate or in sync? Why not just write it like all other Western music notation?

    • @otaviolamounier6366
      @otaviolamounier6366 2 года назад

      This is quite common with more modern compositions. And 1 second = 60bpm. Not so hard.

    • @coloredpencils01
      @coloredpencils01 2 года назад

      @@otaviolamounier6366 There is no reason to put it in "seconds" only to have to convert it to beats. Beats are what is conducted by the conductor. It's really unnecessary.

    This arrangement has the power to heal. I have learned that the ear controls the immune system as well as the speed of integration of the cerebral hemispheres. The first time I heard this piece I was ill and by the end of it my vertigo had disappeared and I was well enough to arise and put in my usual busy day. Music cures mental illness and regulates most of the systems in the body, most especially through the right ear. You can learn more about my discoveries at my blog Mental Health through Music.
