As we’ve already established, “hachi”「八」and “roku”「六」are translated from Japanese as “eight” (8) and “six” (6) respectively. The combined numbers can then be shortened into “haru”, the Japanese way to pronounce “HAL”. But there is extra math behind this.
“Hachi” may be Japanese for “eight”, but I’ve discovered that the Japanese equivalent (at least, written in romaji) begins with the letter “H”, which is the 8th letter in the English alphabet. If we move ten letters forward, we reach the letter “R”, which is what “roku” begins with, (again, if written in romaji) and the 18th letter in the alphabet. But “roku” would be Japanese for “six”. So, with the number 18, you would have to divide that by 3, thus giving you 6. Speaking of the number 3, “HAL” is spelt with that many letters. And if you were double 3, the number 6 would also be the result. However, the first letter in the word is “H”, which is the 8th letter in the alphabet, as I mentioned earlier. So, ignoring the previous sum, with the number 8, multiply that by 5, for the total of 40, then add the 3, for the grand total of 43. Finally, double this total, for the final total of 86, or should I say “haru (HAL)”. If there is something that I skipped or incorrectly described, please let me know.
