  • Why would we shoot ourselves in the foot here? Every RUclipsr (including us) make tutorials so that we can foster growth amongst our viewers. We happily turn the years of experience into teachable content, or fastidiously research new ideas so you don't have to.
But what if almost all of that is for nothing? What happens when the tutorial doesn't seem to help you move your abilities any further, and why is that?
We discuss this today, and the only proven solution we know of.

Back again. Yeah teaching in a university we lecturers know that just lecturing is a poor method of teaching. But holding a lecture snd then have students do something in groups that follows from or builds upon the lecture leads to betyer learning and understanding. And then having the groups present to each other further enhances. The finale is then summing it all up and putting in a context....
Except we don't often have the time to do ehat I just sketched out. Plus dome students EXPECT university to be lots of lectures and if we do not fulfill expectations then there can be problems.
Some of thr best "tutorial" videos on YT can involve giving the viewer something to reflect upon. Or something you do after watching. Sure there is no individual feedback via the next video but at least it is better.

Yes - the classic say one, do one, teach one. Always works like a charm. There is nothing like having to teach something to help us to solidify the concept in our own minds. No one wants to be in a teaching position and say to themselves "maybe I'm right about this?" You want to be absolutely certain you're transmitting good info. And if you've already gone down the say (hear) one, do one road - this is the 3rd time you've interacted with the concept. Bravo to you!
