Guys this is the best alternate picking exercise here. I have literally been helped from day 1. Practise this thing 10 mins a day and it will help TONS.
i'd like to add 2 things: 1) Pick Shanting is a technique that helped me a lot 2) Try to use 1.0mm+ picks. The thicker the pick the more control you have over it
great exercise, but I advise you to do it also in the direct picking way... but the first stroke is sweet picking, and the second is alternative picking (internal transition from e to h string, best regards , edy
Makes good sense I came to the same conclusion practicing ascending sixes. Get your hand used to the pattern with one repitition, then gradually elongate it.
This is probably the second time I've seen someone on YT give this GOOD advice. I have also come to this conclusion myself and it works, so I don't know why THEY are hiding it ;) Anyway, think about whether it is possible for you to learn to run just by walking very fast. It's a different mechanic. When you start running, as a child, it doesn't look particularly graceful, but with time you improve your technique by RUNNING. It's similar here.
1 month. I played this exercises for so long, I can hear it in my head when I am going to sleep. I still stuck at 160 BPM. IDK what is wrong about my RIGHT HAND! I can play legatos very fast, I can do lot of fast runs, sweep picking, tapping, you name it. But the right hand refuses to go faster. I can tremolo pick with my whole arm, but not from the wrist. I TRIED EVERYTHING and I still stuck at 160. I guess that there is something wrong with my physics, cause I tried different angles, picking, a lot of that. No progress.
the best way to play faster in no time, is to wear too many rings on each hand the Yngwie way! 4:20 reminds me of a Kauan song! cool scales man & Thanks for the Tabs!
Why should you limit yourself? To be the master of what you already know. A bigger palette means more ways of expression, but not a better player as we think about it straight. We don't use all techniques we know every time
What you describe at the beginn is called retardando if im correct... imo it's the most important thing in heavy music... blast beats during the hole song doesn't work for me... If you slow down and come back to the same tempo, it sounds more heavy and faster then before, but it isn't... A beatiful effect that many bands overlook...
Noob question: are you starting alternate picking on an up stroke or down stroke? In the clip it looks like an upstroke. Is that preference or for efficiency? Also, thanks for the video! Love your stuff!
@@garfieldfan3892 thanks for the tip! Never knew that, I’m sure just practicing starting with an upstroke will be a good lesson on its own lol. Cheers
@daniiltkachuk7519 yeah, fair enough. Lazy part of my brain just wanted the answer as opposed to doing what I should..... and working through the notes to figure it out.
@daniiltkachuk7519 learn the patterns/scales locks whatever very slow. Once you know them repeat them or if it's too long repeat a part In an endless loop and burst some sections then play it at normal speed play it slow burst and so on. play it way above your speed level fuck it up completely and then go back to burst method. This helped me to play things I thought I could never play in about 2 weeks
When doing 3 notes per string, you need to change the slant direction every time you change strings so you don't get stuck in the strings and can "escape" the string.
I have a question haunting me for the longest time, as shown on the exercises, you started with a upstroke on the E string, then downstroke on the B string, the thing is, sometimes I see people doing the opposite, and when I try to play licks like "1 on E string then 3 2 1 2 3 on the B string, then back to the E and repeating", like a zigzag pattern, my hands get confused I start thinking what is the best way when there is just 1 note on another string, in this case, is a downstroke on the E string better because it's more economic, or the other way around, an upstroke on the E string to follow the up-down motion, and when there is a even number of notes on one string and a single note on the other string, my hands get all messed up, like this "3 on the B, 1 2 3 2 on the E then back to the B", the natural motion seems to be changing every cycle, while an economic picking would be more constant. hope you can understand and sorry for the long ass explanation.

This is pretty helpful and I've been trying to figure out a way of getting faster with pick speed too. Perfect timing!
Just what I needed, thanks bro!🎉
This is absolutely crazy Thanks so much, Bradley!
Great advice. I do this approach to learn highway star solo, and it works… but we must be patient and work hard.
Another important tip: Use your goddamn pinky.
Playing that fast is so much easier on the long run if the pinky is implemented.

1. Relax
2. Use wrist

Wow, Im a new huge fan. Thanks
so, wait, locking every joint except my elbow and going at it like an angry Michael J Fox isn't the way?
I can't play that fast because I don't have a blue guitar like you, oh well.

Day 1 of practicing it.
Will update my progress.
11 day. I play it on a 160 BPM right now. My right arm is struggling, left arm is very okay.

I have a hard time with tremolo picking, especially switching strings. For like death metal
had? you eliminated that problem? With that exercise? Or disnyou do something else?
Great exercise Bradley :)
reupload ? already spent a billion hour on this exercise but i guess another billion hour won't hurt !
Yup I'm making the lesson free for a limited time so more people can suffer...I mean, try it!
For me it all falls apart at 160bpm when the diminished shapes start. I am not used to that 2 note per string shape.
After 220, my brain cramped…

Any tip about holding the pick while you fastpicking ? İ guess i m doing it wrong
i havent been given the ability to describe very well, but there are awesome tutorials on yt. and u can always just watch how experts do it :)

Do you go over up n down strokes on your paetron?
Why should you limit yourself? To be the master of what you already know. A bigger palette means more ways of expression, but not a better player as we think about it straight. We don't use all techniques we know every time
What about downpicking speed?
Why does you never use your pinke, is it better not to or is this your personal style?
can you tell me what effects/pedals you use and what settings?
Thanks.. I'll work on it
Each lick has 7 notes... Do all 7 have to be played in one beat of the metronome, if using a metronome?
I have the same question
You know how much I would start with a downpick and just play the whole thing inside the strings!
Is this a reupload?

Generally outside picking is easier, so starting with an upstroke, but do both. Ascending three note per string runs require both

is this in 6/4?
What's the chord progression? (Or am I over thinking it?). 😮 Knowing what I'm playing seems to help
can't you figure it out by yourself? You literally have everything for it

And this simbol in your hand?
Thanks Julien Doré
😂 i dont think they know this guy
😂🤣
Best way for speed is not starting slow and increase. That's a myth that somehow is still around
what is the best way then? I don't think it's good to criticize unless you have something better to offer
@daniiltkachuk7519 learn the patterns/scales locks whatever very slow. My picking hand is not the issue
I'm struggling at 130. Should take the 100bpm. Or may be 70bpm. Oups not included 😂(NB : it's a joke, I just have to practice more of course :) )
I’ve noticed that my biggest problem is three note per string. Two notes are far easier for me
You should look into pick slanting.
@ well I have my pick slanted but I still tend to get caught up on strings or my left hand won’t cooperate.
When doing 3 notes per string, you need to change the slant direction every time you change strings so you don't get stuck in the strings and can "escape" the string.

my fastest BPM is 50😭
I'm seeing Manowar in Berlin next year. Can't fucking wait. Now THAT'S true metal.
You didn't mention picking depth, do you advocate for the least picking depth possible ?
Hmm, starting slow and gradually increasing speed = bad
Solution?
Start slowly and gradually increase speed
:/
Start slowly just to learn the pattern and get familiar, then go as fast as can without destroying your wrists.
