      Agree I started watching this because I am middle management now, I want to dress like the next rung up. And do you know what middle management is not 20 something skinny, most of us are struggling with the after effects of kids, busy workload, slow metabolism and being of average height. Give me work-ware for this market and I will buy it. I started watching this and going I would not make these outfits look nice. ( Congrats to all the superwomen out there that can manage everything...no disrespect).

    • @wizardkitty92
      @wizardkitty92 7 лет назад +80

      Manga, Zara and Massimo Dutti are affordable alternatives. :) COSstore is also a great alternative but a pricy one. I recommend the sale that Massimo Dutti has before every winter when they sell out all the coats for a cheaper price. Remember that when buying a coat for example, try to see the material it's made out of, if it contains 100% wool that's the best opition obviously for autumn especially if you live in a cold country. Coats that contain polyester or acrylic is a big no since the coats has a tendency to look "fuzzy" over time...

    • @tb11212
      @tb11212 7 лет назад +61

      Try the alternative shops except Zara because they have sweatshops that pay people close to nothing while robbing regular people at high prices instead of paying their employees and factory workers more

    I just began working in an office environment in new york city. I'm an intern that will be working all year with an incredible company and I'm still trying to find the perfect balance between chic, youthfulness, comfort, and appropriateness. It is a semi-professional environment so you'll see some people going all out and some like my boss who just wears jeans but makes them look good.
    I'm starting to gain inspiration by just walking through the concrete jungle in the morning and observing what all these fabulously chic women are wearing on their way to work. NYC mornings are a rush but I love love love it

      +Robertking1996 No. No they're not. The high, high heels, the ankle pants and culottes, and many of the other items are very, VERY specifically called out as not permitted in most corporate dress codes. I've worked at many companies in the last 30 years, I don't even know if ONE of those outfits would be allowed for any employee at any level.Also, one has to be very, very careful to not wear more expensive clothing than the other people working in that position. One has to be really careful to fit in and follow the styles of the people who work in the company. It is very important to look at each company as an individual 'personality' and culture. And each company is in fact, unique.NET-A-PORTER, you're completely and totally out of touch with corporate dress codes.

    • @Robertking1996
      @Robertking1996 8 лет назад +124

      +Thomas F maybe if you work at some boring office in the mid west. But Net-A-Porter specifically markets itself to rich and ultra high net worth individuals. They're not after middle class women. Women in the "world's capitals" i.e. NYC, LA, London, Paris, Hong Kong can dress this way and it's expected to be dressy.

    • @moshyi
      @moshyi 8 лет назад +107

      +Thomas F i live in nyc and i see many, many women dress this way for work, even when they don't work in a fashion-related field. these outfits are quite acceptable for the corporate offices here, even in finance companies such as morgan stanley. but then, i suppose it depends on what city you live in. i imagine these outfits will work for offices in any big city and that women who dress like this will get a lot of admiration and respect for dressing so well.

    • @Robertking1996
      @Robertking1996 8 лет назад +40

      +ying h exactly, everyone in NYC is so dressy, even the most drab outfit in NYC is a vogue outfit in Texas. I love going there because people actually dress so nice and care to be put together. I live in Houston and everyone is so shabby.

      If you're buying investment pieces like a trench coat or a suit I would look into tailoring. Obviously it would be a bit much for everyday casual items but as someone around your height, I always tailor those kinds of items. I get the best size for fit (width) regardless of length and shorten it either myself or if it's a tricky piece at a tailor

    I think all of these outfits are lovely . . . if you happen to work in a more casual atmosphere. Where is the advice and guidance for women that need to wear suits? I understand that many professions have shed the traditional suit formality, but many others have not. Sorry, but a silk blouse and and tailored trousers paired with a trench coat is just not up to par for many work environments. Again, though, the outfits presented were gorgeous.

    Some of them are nice pieces of clothing but at times the styling was very, very old fashioned and grandma-like. It just looks like one is trying too hard. Such as shirt OVER skirt, and yeah those culottes are just a big no no. Sorry but that's the way it is.

    This video was horribly edited! They need to show the looks for a longer period and skip/fast forward the parts where she is undressing the model so that we can actually concentrate on what the writing says..
