@@TheHouseBowling you absolutely have to lead the PBA in fouls. My goodness, the 2nd one in the 10th may have been a full 2 inches past the line. I see you turned the foul lights off after your intro foul. Only fouled 7 or 8 times out of the next 12 first balls at least.
Thanks for this video Pack! I've been wondering how long it was gonna take Hammer to bring this kind of ball stateside; must've been all the BW Purple Urethanes selling out quickly on Bowlersmart that finally convinced them! Looks like the folks at Hammer are finally starting to get the message......give us the overseas type balls....that is....unique cover/core combinations along with attractive covers.
I can appreciate the expertise involved in showing us what a ball can do on conditions other than a THS, and I imagine that most people watching bowling on youtube are serious enough bowlers who probably play on tournament conditions too. That said though, for your standard league bowlers looking to see how the newest and most in demand equipment might work for them, the THS is valuable content. So eventhough you're light years more skilled than the average Joe, and you wouldn't throw urethane on a THS, perhaps a little footage of it wouldn't hurt. Keep up the good work fellas! I appreciate all the solid content.
Now you know why we've been clamoring and demanding this ball after seeing the Black Widow Purple Pearl Urethane be released overseas 3 years ago in Japan (one of the last Hopkinsville pours) and then re-released for South Korea (Reynosa pour) 4 months ago, and why those balls were posted AND SELLING on Ebay at $600 each! The Purple Hammer is a good ball, but when you take that shell, and put a widow core around it, you get an amazing ball, and finally there's been so much demand on it that it's become a catalog ball. My Black Widow Purple Pearl Urethane has never left my bag, and is a more than suitable replacement for my Faball Blue Hammer, which can finally enjoy retirement after being in my bag since 1989.
That behaves an awful lot like the tour V2 pearl, with maybe a bit more length and slightly longer hook zone. The white/pearl streaks in the pink look like the pearl in the v2.
Picking up my first urethane tonight. Purple hammer! Let’s goooo! (I’m a recent 2H converter. Need to learn how to throw and adapt to urethane for tournaments purposes)
Now I want to get this same ball but is there a different color that I can get, or is there only the pink version. I'm wondering because u are using the punk ball and it's doing really well but when u take out the black version it doesn't seem to do hood. Is this because of the color or because it's not the same type of coverstock and so on?
So I had got the same ball I was concerned seeing my ball be drilled because my pin is all the up directly straight in front of the finger holes and it reacts horribly what do I do
We had a similar problem with our foul line going off on its own earlier this week (it looked like the oiler smoked it when it was placed in the lane). We just turned that shit off and left it off.
I’m old enough to have owned the original black hammer, blue hammer, big deal, real deal, all of OG blades and black widows and now the new versions. I honestly can’t remember when Hammer ever stepped down their game.
The pink has it's own personality. It's the younger one of the crew. It' wants to be aggressive like the 2.0 , grippy as the purp, but is close to it's younger friend the ghost white. So it knows how to slide. Very adaptive.
Interesting, your awesome just to get that out of the way but when you slammed the pocket and it left the ten for you I have seen that type of pin reaction of of everyone of the widow versions even with the different cores, for my wife and a bunch of other bowlers that are right handed they all leave soooo many 7 pins and it looks so good going through the pins not that it never strikes but I’m also a moron by comparison in bowling so take it for what it’s worth
I used a dark legend black widow back in high school about 6 years ago. I loved that ball. Now a days it doesn't hook as much or have the same reaction as it did. I got a black widow ghost pearl recently. Watching videos of people throwing it and talking about it seems to have that same reaction and it does. I love it a lot and so glade I got it. Only problem I have now is the lanes I go to use to be drenched in oil back in the day. I took 4 years off and now they don't use as much. So the lanes start off heavy and then get light very easily. gets to the point where my black widow hooks way too much for me to control and I switch to my Tracks HX 10 which is nice and all but I'm not getting a nice consistent reaction from it. Also by that point even that one is hooking a ton. I want to get a nice ball for light to medium oil. Anyone have a good suggestion? I also need to get me a plastic spare ball for that 10 pin. I miss my Strike king (Its too damaged to use now. Use to hit every 10 pin spare with that thing).
Awesome video! I just started bowling again after about 12 years, and I've been looking at this ball. I currently have the Brunswick Rhino in magenta/purple; would this ball be worth picking up? Or would it be similar to the rhino? I'm still new to all of the balls, the rhino and tzone are the first purchases I've ever made on custom balls.
This style of review is the best because you compared to other balls that didn’t work in that specific lane condition so it shows that this ball is optional and a great pick. Given the purple probably would’ve struck from further left, the pink was definitely better swinging the lane. I don’t have any thane yet and this might be in my bag one day
I love how people like urethane more and more but I still feel like it's not as good as reactive. The snap that resin reactive makes is soo unique at driving through the pins consistently. Where alot of urethane is more lazy and less continuous(obviously if you throw it perfectly it'll hit fine like with anything including plastic). I guess there's less room for errant shots when using urethane. You have to be perfect or you'll leave flat 10/7 pins or you'll leave pocket 8/9 pins alot. So these balls are great for pros that hit their mark and break point perfectly but for the average bowler it's like handicapping yourself. On top of tearing up the pattern(and making a cliff of doom) if you're giving it the slow wheel. Where with alot of reactive balls you can be like 5 left or right and still have a chance at a strike. Idk I'm torn
I've found that on a lot of patterns, urethane is really forgiving, especially stronger ones like the widow or purple hammer. It tends to hook off the gutter more, giving more miss room right, but it's also slow enough that missing in will allow it to hold. You may not score as high, but you leave much more manageable spares
That ball is money, my son already preordered I should have said yes when he asked me if i wanted one but i said maybe later, LOL. I just wish the would release the red pearl stateside and the color for this was a solid pink like the OG pink Hammer, I hope they re-release that ball, I could hook the whole lane with that one and it hit like a Freight train. sidenote, I hope the channel is getting ad revenue, there was like 1 every 1 1/2 minute
Just curious, when would be a good time to throw the pink BW urethane? In my mind the purple hammer already hooks a ton for a urethane and the pink hooks even more?! Is this something special that the other reactive balls just can't replicate? (Personally haven't thrown the purple or the pink so just hoping for Packy or anyone to enlighten me) :)
House shots I would stick to something with more downlane like my knockout but I know this ball will work on anything I just don’t know if you need to control the pocket as much since the lane pattern gives it to ya!!
love the vlogs - i was a big fan of the original black widow urethanes - carried 2 with me with different layouts - wanted to ask because you said you putting this in the bag - how many and what different layouts do you like for urethane?
Thanks for this review, Packy! Questions: 1. If this is going in both your tournament and house shot bags, will it replace the Purple Hammer and/or the OG Widow urethane that you used in this vid? 2. I love the look of the Pink urethane Widow in this vid, and I am also a lefty, but I am a one-hander, lower rev rate than you, high tilt/high rotation though. Would this ball allow me to use urethane, or is my lower rev-rate still going make reactive a better option for me? 3. The 4th was around 10 and it did the same as the pink. So maybe they weren't as different as shown here. And a question : For a low rev player , which one would you recommend?
@@exesemas Oh yea that's really not that low. Average competitive bowlers rev rates are in the 300-350 range.
