@@ohcharlie428 sorry to point out again but I'm a lady, not a "dude".Yes, I'm learning to use the other hand but it's neither easy nor nice, as also the other hand is not well. And no, unfortunately, my poor dominant hand will never recover.
Thank you for the wonderful. Where can I find the furniture asset file that you used in this video? It’s exactly what I am looking for. Thank you, Deb.
Oh my goodness, I've just discovered the Assets window when someone else mentioned about creating patterns and add them into the Assets panel! Love this!
I absolutely loooove expanding my assets library and I use them all the time when designing my repeat patterns 🥰 Does Adobe have something similar? No idea, never used Adobe products 🫠
Good Video. Thanks. It would be even better if you would include (a) the method to share assets among Affinity apps on the same device; and (b) how to export an Assets Category, then import it onto a different device. Also, it would be much better in LIGHT MODE (dark mode is very difficult to see on a tutorial) and using ZOOM so we can better see each panel you're working on. I'm looking at this on a 26" screen (66cm), and all the text on the panels is pixellated and impossible to read. Thanks!
Do we have to save the original file that the asset is made in as a seperate affinity designer file on the computer? And if so, does that work as a ”master” in the sense that if you change that master, the asset gets the same change?
No, once the asset is saved to the asset panel the information is held by the asset panel - it is separate to the original object on your workspace. This object can be deleted and the asset will remain in the asset panel. You can also export and import assets so if you wanted a master file of a collection of assets, export them to a folder on your computer or cloud storage using the asset panel options. 😊
Would be great to be able to have an option to insert the layer at the exact same place when it was originally added to the library. So I could insert it back at the same place each time if I want.
@@KVergot Hi Kim V! Here I am demonstrating on the desktop version where I have two files open, I clicked the second file tab which was the file with the collection of furniture. On iPad, I would have had to use the back arrow to go back to the live doc view. I hope this helps.
Exactly, you need to export them one by one, save them in a dedicated folder. Next import them one by one in V2. For me it was a good opportunity to clean up my assets library 🙃

Assets, Symbols, Constraints, etc... Are incredible tools.. Incredible..
I love Affinity and glad they grew this much.. Been using them since 2017
Are those black and white furniture assets used as ana example on how to import available somewhere?
Where can I get the above furniture assets file?

Hello, how come mine says "Assets cannot contain embedded documents" whenever I try to drag and drop an image to my assets panel?
Thanks for creating and explaining!

yes! if you have a custom one, export it to a folder. After in V2 a new doc, import that asset from the saved folder.
