Houston, Texas, America… you need to check yourselves!!!
As an Aussie seeing this behaviour unfold, I expected much better. Your linesman are skilled beyond and incur greater risks, than most other countries. In this circumstance fellow Americans have come to your aid and this how you treat your brothers!!
    Do better.

@@strangeroamer3219they are wonderful, and I had my power out for a whole week during Fiona. It’s not the fault of the lineman, they do their best and many come from out of the area to service affected areas and help people out. I was glad I saw them and didn’t feel any sort of hate towards them, my hate was for the companies not the frontline worker.
A lot of them worked in crappy weather alongside fire and EMS and spent a lot of time fixing up power lines and ensuring people got power back eventually. You need to realize that power doesn’t immediately return to everyone it can take time for a lot of reasons especially if it’s a grid, where they gotta get different parts back online.
I’m glad the community kept them fed and watered as they worked.

One part might look fine, but the rest of it might be torn up all to hell. They might have to work up to your area, making sure the lines are clear, damaged trees are removed, and guys might be staged somewhere until they can get into the area that needs to be done first. It sucks, I know, but it's dangerous work. It's going to take as long as it takes.

News Flash everyone. As a lineman I can say it. With more violent storms due to global warming & more frequent storms in areas not otherwise hit. Everyone has to understand that there are only so many lineman in this country & we can’t be everywhere. So when it takes us 5 days to reach your territory don’t lash out at us. I’ll just ask to be reassigned to a neighborhood wanting their power back on. The other is if you can’t live without power for a week to ten days? Perhaps it is high time you buy a back up generator? I have one for my family. If you can’t afford that then buy a portable but have an electrician wire it for you. Last thing we need is someone back feeding the grid waiting to hurt someone.

The media is over sensationalizing that these line workers are being harassed. I was at an incident near Alief between some angry residents and some line workers. I am not making excuses. What. We did was wrong, but hear me out. There were about 3 Centerpoint trucks in a nearby parking lot doing nothing. A bunch of us were so happy we were about to get power and AC, and we were talking to the guys. Suddenly, the head guy gets a call and tells the other ps that they had to leave to area to service some other neighborhood. People were sooooo mad. Apparently, one of the crews didn’t show up to cut the trees or power poles necessary for the electrician line guys to repair and reconnect the power lines. People were begging for them to wait. Things escalated quickly to shouting and arguments. When they drive off some people were throwing water bottles at their trucks. I don’t condone that. It was a few bad actors. I just don’t think Centerpoint is organized. Do you have any idea what kind of hell we’ve been through in the past week??? We are just angry and frustrated. Nobody’s harassing anybody.

The place these linemen were diverted to had also experienced loss of power, and apparently the downed trees had been cleared and the new power poles delivered to that location. So these linemen could have continued sitting and waiting and doing nothing in your neighborhood, which wasn't getting anyone re-connected and has been a source of numerous complaints, or they could go to a place that was prepared for their work and help solve the problem. While it was certainly frustrating for you and your neighbors to see them leave, there is no question that it was the right course of action.
If no one was harassing anyone, then what was it you all did that you're not making excuses for and that was wrong and that you don't condone?
