Evoking the morning dawn, this exuberant showpiece (quite underlooked, and rarely played in recitals) for trumpet in C with piano accompaniment which was written by composer Daniel Lesur (a member of La jeune France) in 1953 lasts just under a minute's duration; yet elates the listener by exuding great charm and catching their attention. Before finishing with a mellow conclusion, it notably utilises the pentatonic scale in a highlighted manner and concentrates on the tenor register and upward.
Although a key signature is unspecified, it may be tonally classified as a being in G minor; it is marked with the Allegretto tempo and often fluctuates between 2/4 and 3/4 time signatures despite initially being notated in common time.
