Too many people have been lynched, imprisoned and persecuted based on false accusations. Any sane and moral person is going to insist on proof (or at least evidence) before making a judgement.
Valid point…more valid than anything else that’s been said about a reluctance to believe victims. The allegations are a double edged sword. Yes victims tell the truth, but yes victims have been known to lie to get revenge. It’s a really complicated dynamic at play. There are no easy answers, but always accusing victims of lying (punching down) is not an answer either.

Diddy isn't being charged with the assault because Cassie has legally accepted money for all his abuse already. I reckon without accepting the money, if she took him to court, and went to court with this evidence, she could have put him away and got a far bigger pay out.

Statute of limitations for felony assault is 3 years. That video is 8 yrs old. That's why prosecutors said they can't charge him

But civil proceedings have no bearing on criminal ones, and it’s already been explained that she went that route bc it was the most she could do individually at the time.
To your question, he paid out bc he didn’t want to risk going to court and being exposed further (lmao which ended up happening anyway). Criminal charges/jail isn’t the legal outcome in a civil suit, money is the most you can get.
