SeanyTheHeartFan. Thanks for your honesty. It's feedback from viewers like yourself that will help us make more interesting and entertaining videos. P.S. I gave you a thumbs up for this :)
With extreme editing we may have been able to make it a bit shorter than 16 minutes but very much doubt we could have gotten it down to 5 without losing the entire point of the comparision
Driveway Dudes ahaa enjoyed the video! Although as people have mentioned it would be nice to see an updated version where you didn't adjetate the cleaner with a brush! :)
Hi Dopee Jamm. It's all in the works. With the bad weather we've had and 'The Beast from the East' on it's way, it's slowed down progress on our currently planned outdoor videos. Hope to have some more outdoor videos (including the cleaner without agitation) shot and edited soon :)
Hi Colin. You make a good point, but as you know, with any cleaning of any sort on anything, agitating/sponging/brushing dirt is much more effective than just putting soap on something alone and letting it soak. Brake dust does bake in (e.g. from the heat of the brakes) and corrodes the alloy/aluminium so wheels cleaners do help lift and soften the brake dust before agitation. These are very "cost effective" wheel cleaners so they may require a little more elbow grease ;) Driveway Dudes - Will
Hi Colin. You used Lidl Kitchen Cleaner on your wheels? Did you use it on alloy/aluminium wheels or another type? I've honestly never heard of someone doing that before but I'm glad it worked out well for you :) We couldn't recommend others to use kitchen cleaner on wheels without further research first as we don't know if any of the ingredients would have a negative effect on alloy/aluminium wheels or their finish (lacquer/clear coat), let alone any other type of wheels. Driveway Dudes - Will
Driveway Dudes on my 15 plate Focus alloy wheels, it's just as good as any wheel cleaner I've used and I've tried most of them. If you can use it kitchen surfaces you are going to eat off it isn't going to be too harsh.
Hi Colin. You do make some good points and it's something I would have never have thought to use on wheels. We may look into it in the future. Thanks for the info :) Driveway Dudes - Will
"Okay now I'm going to pick up the brush, and now I'm going to put the brush on the wheel, and now I'm going to move the brust to the left, and now I'm going to move the brush to the right, and now I'm going to move it back to the left again, and now I'm going to move the brush to the right again, and now..." And that's how you make a 16 minute video about wheel cleaners.
It was much longer before we heavily edited it. We had to cut out the action and fight sequences because we were afraid to excite our viewers too much.
Hola, It was a comparison video to test the effectiveness of two different products. We are not aware of a solution or product that will clean a dirty grimy wheel with years of road encrusted dirt in 3 minutes and if there is then we would be delighted to hear about it. Paul
Really lovely video, but you can't use it for shit. If I sprayed soapy water on the wheel and the scrubbed it with a brush I would get the same result. You should only have sprayed it on and washed it off to see which did a better job.
Hi Daniel Fl. Thanks for your comment. We followed the instructions on the bottle to the letter in order to show an unbiased review and you can see the results in the video. We don't claim that soapy water would be just as good nor do we disclaim it. This video is for guide purposes If would be very disappointing for millions of car detailers to discover that companies who claim to carry out comprehensive and detailed research and development would retail a product that is no more than just soapy water. Driveway Dudes - Will
Sure they would be mad. But this test doesn't really answer the question of which is better. Still a good video, but if you wanted to see which were better then you could simply have sprayed it on and washed it away to see which did a better job. Just an opinion. :)
There are cleaners that claim you only have to spray it on, wait a few minutes then wipe or wash off. These particular ones in the video advised to agitate. One product being environment friendly and the other not so much, the end result with agitation was that they both did a comparable and reasonable clean. The object of this video was to check the effectiveness of budget priced acidic versus non-acidic wheel cleaners and we like to think that we demonstrated that. We will in a future video carry out further un-biased tests on other types of cleaners and their overall effectiveness. Driveway Dudes - Will
In this episode we use this cleaner and this cleaner.. One is acidic one is not.. We. Taped half the wheel. There... 8 seconds. Why do you need 3 mins to say that?
The chemical composition may be used in other applications/products. We are passing on the manufacturers claims that it is environment friendly and has not been tested on animals.
You would first need to check out if the ingredients would be suitable to use on lacquers. If you think it's safe then please feel free to try it out and let us know.
Hi. Thanks for the video. I've tried most of the car cleaning products on the market. And have to agree that while Astonish brand is cheaper it really does a good job. Try the Astonish Orange degreaser on the interior plastic trim with a nail brush. Brilliant results. Great video. Keep them coming. :)
Hi John, Thanks for the compliments. We were surprised that such a budget priced product was as effective as it was. We plan on carrying out more comparison videos in the future across price ranges so be sure to keep watching, like, share and subscribe for more videos from Driveway Dudes. Paul :)

Hi rockhills. You're absolutely right, sometimes acid based wheel cleaners can have more of an effect on aluminium wheels however there are several factors that need to be considered. How strong is the wheel cleaner? Is there a high concentrate of acid or solvents in the solution? Is the clear coat/lacquer on alloy wheels damaged or weakened in some way and the acid/solvent may cause further defects? If some of the clear coat/lacquer is missing, will the wheel cleaner damage the paintwork? Non-acidic wheel cleaners would be more commonly used to clean custom, un-lacquered, chrome, diamond cut, or anodised wheels. As we demonstrated non-acidic wheel cleaners can do just as effective a job cleaning wheels, so if anyone is in doubt about the condition of their wheels, the safest option would be to use non-acidic wheel cleaners. Yeah good suggestion, it would be very interesting to see what happens if both wheel cleaners were sprayed onto a wheel, left to dwell and hosed off. The Astonish Car Care was the only cleaner to suggest this as an option, but we will definitely try it in a future video :) Driveway Dude - Will

Vinegar is a liquid consisting of ≥ 20% acetic acid(CH3COOH) Ideally you would have to mix a very accurate ratio, dilution of white vinegar and water otherwise it may be too corrosive to lacquers and possibly burn/stain bare metals. If you think it would do a better job then feel free to try it and let us know
I did a test today on my BMW which gets heavy brake dust on the fronts. The vinegar did well but didn't get everything and i felt like I had to keep rinsing before it dried and I'd have to go over the same spot again. Then I found a gallon of Simply Green Pro HD cleaner laying around the house. I used that and it was fantastic! Cleaned light dirt easy and hard spots with just a little rubbing. Wheels look better than they ever have. The label says it can be used on wheels. Assuming it didn't take my clear coat off I'd highly recommend it.
Yes, we couldn't recommend vinegar as a wheel cleaner. Simple Green Pro Hd is a dedicated cleaner/degreaser for engines, wheels, machinery, etc so should be suitable to use.
Tuz Ruhu Turkish spirit of salt or Hydrochloric acid is a chemical compound consisting of hydrogen and chlorine elements, which is in the form of gas at room temperature and normal pressure. It is also known as the salt spirit among the Turkish people. In the ninth century, the alchemist was discovered by Cabir bin Hayyan and later used in alchemy. During the Industrial Revolution, the acid discovered by the industry first began to be produced in the industrial sector by the Leblanc process, followed by the Solvay process. Hydrochloric acid has historically played an important role in the discovery of new conveniences. Today, hydrochloric acid is used in almost all fields from PVC to iron-iron, from organic matter production to food sector. Hydrochloric acid is a toxic substance besides the facilities it provides and it causes great damage to most surfaces, especially human tissues. For this reason, safety precautions should be kept at the highest level when working with this acid. In addition to being toxic, acid is irritating to eyes and skin, causes deep burns, and is irritating to the respiratory system.
I think it was pretty damn clear that the acidic spray did a way better job then the none acidic obviously the wheel on the side of the acidic had almost no dirt on it and the none acid side had more build up you only looked on the edges so your experiment was very bias and irrelevant you need to redo this and be more open
We used budget cleaning products that cost less than $5 each. We like to think we carried out an unbiased demonstration of the products. Dirt build up is never uniform so one side may have more than the other. The non acidic cost 1/3 that of the acidic so considering the price it performed well

Dish washing detergent contains degreasing agents and trace amounts of bleach. If it was designed for cleaning wheels and auto parts it would probably say so on the container. We have heard that Head N Shoulders has been used as a car shampoo 🤔 but would never consider using car shampoo in the shower. Paul
@@DrivewayDudes i guess if there wasn't a bottle labeled 'wheel cleaner', you'd drive around with dirty wheels... since you would only use something labeled wheel cleaner on your car.
The products we tested cost less than £5 for both and are designed to help clean wheels. The product you mention in it's description it doesn't include 'safe to use on lacquer' We are not saying that it would be harmful to lacquered wheels but it doesn't specify it can be used on them. Are you going to buy it and test it out? Let us know. Thanks
We have tried to find the ingredients/chemicals used in the product but they appear not to be available. Nor is there a safety statement accessible to view. It comes in a concentrate liquid form. How would you decide what mix/dilute ratio to use? We could not recommend that this be used on alloy wheels without first testing it.
The outcome of the comparison was that they were effective. Some top line brands at top line prices may or may not be better. We are planning more cleaning product comparison videos so keep watching and you'll be able to see how good or not they are.

Is it safe for break drums and break leather pads ? Do I always have to remove wheels to clean them ?
I used 409 the other day and forgot my black wheels were really grey, took no effort, wiped it dry with a microfiber cloth and washed at the car wash.
I am absolutely Astonished..!! 😂😂😂
Maybe that could be a tagline for the company :)

Why are you using astonish wheel cleaner it cost £1
Hi hakman239. Thanks for the question.
It was the only wheel cleaner close to the price of the other brand.
We made the video to determine if budget brands i.e. acidic/solvent cleaners are better than environment friendly non-acidic/solvent free brands.
The price and effectiveness of the brands is what we sought to determine.
There are many more expensive brands that claim to be the best on the market and in later videos we will put those to the test.
Hope this explanation answers your question.

My wheels become matte not shinny because astonish wheel cleaner :/ anyone can explain? :/
THANK YOU.
What about with water only??
Hi dosetti,

Hi James, Thanks for the comment. This was a review of 2 particular products in the same price range.

It was quite labour intensive but the results were surprising for such budget priced products.
Driveway Dudes - Will
acidic is good if you don't care about the paint on your wheels! 👍🏼
As long as it's very diluted and you follow the directions then there's little chance of any paint / lacquer damage
Driveway Dudes also if it's applied to damaged wheels but as you say it all comes down to strength of the solutions applied
Great test but dude you talk waaaayyy tooo much the demo was 5min you talked for 11min

This just shows you that most cleaning products are just a scam. You probably could have gotten a very similar result with dish soap and water. That brush is what really did the job

Way to much talking. Result of both product is horrible. Dish washing soap probably do better job
Talking to communicate. This is a review of budget products. Dish washing soap has wrong chemical composition.
Decent brands , acid cleaner would be a lot better but it’s not something you can use on any alloys and not leave it to dry
Great video but the background music is really annoying.
apologies
You could have done a whole wheel from each side. THat way you wouldn't have had to do all that masking.
We thought of that. We chose this way because it's much easier to see the obvious difference
why would you brush them? let it soak and rinse off

good work i didnt realise it made that much of a difference i wonder what result youd get using TFR ?

Wheels look better than they ever have. The label says it can be used on wheels. Assuming it didn't take my clear coat off I'd highly recommend it.
Yes, we couldn't recommend vinegar as a wheel cleaner.
Simple Green Pro Hd is a dedicated cleaner/degreaser for engines, wheels, machinery, etc so should be suitable to use.
hydrochloric acid
Tuz Ruhu turkish spirit of salt
1 dolar - 1Lt :)
In addition to being toxic, acid is irritating to eyes and skin, causes deep burns, and is irritating to the respiratory system.
woa...
Thanks for the great information
Jeezz get on with it
I think it was pretty damn clear that the acidic spray did a way better job then the none acidic obviously the wheel on the side of the acidic had almost no dirt on it and the none acid side had more build up you only looked on the edges so your experiment was very bias and irrelevant you need to redo this and be more open
We used budget cleaning products that cost less than $5 each. We like to think we carried out an unbiased demonstration of the products.
Dirt build up is never uniform so one side may have more than the other.
The non acidic cost 1/3 that of the acidic so considering the price it performed well
Not saying it was bad but I just believe it wasn't being observed properly but your right for a $5 product it does a fine job
NL?
Hi Tima. Can you please explain what you mean by NL ?
are you from the netherlands
Hi Tima. We are from Ireland.
o ok
Too much talking
Audio and visual demonstration.
Driveway Dudes trying to help dude.
Thanks for your input. Some may think you were trying to trigger or troll but we answer most comments if they appear to be genuine.

Why did I watch this?
Hi SweetShawn999,
This is Driveway Dudes not Psychic Dudes
Just use dish washing soap..
£8 container of degreaser from screwfix is all you need.. none of this branded bull$$$$.
The products we tested cost less than £5 for both and are designed to help clean wheels.
The product you mention in it's description it doesn't include 'safe to use on lacquer'
We are not saying that it would be harmful to lacquered wheels but it doesn't specify it can be used on them.
You talk way too much. You're wasting everyone's time by not getting to the demo faster.
Outcome... they're both hopeless
The outcome of the comparison was that they were effective.
Some top line brands at top line prices may or may not be better.
We are planning more cleaning product comparison videos so keep watching and you'll be able to see how good or not they are.
Make a long story long.lol... wtf these videos get to the f...point
w5 is a cheapass product
Yes and the other brand is even cheaper
use it on your dirty teeth now
@steliostsi. Interesting comment but these are not teeth whitening products so I wouldn't recommend them for that
glad you have a sense of humor! good job on the review
