My goodness, this is so lovely to read. I am 32 and first heard this when I was 15 and 16. This song and its poem will forever mean such depths to me ❤️
@@dear-pixel-heart I remember those summer days vividly. Just listening to Anathema, Alcest, Agalloch and many others. Magical time, building thought process and no matter what happens life seems to carry that magic still. For all of you out there, I hope.
All of you that listen to this song, that are called back to it time and time again, are so, so beautiful. Meaningful you each are, and I appreciate you. Thank you. Always wishing you oneironauts well ❤
A beautiful song that has further meaning when i found out that Roy Harper wrote it for his children and theirs too...."When you look at me from your own century i may seem to be strange archeology....." A wistful and haunting song.
As the falling rain Of the northern jungle Hanging droplets on the leaves Bombards my brain I hear you Across the room A sea of daffodils spring into bloom You are the mist The frost across my window pane And again. . .
Here I am again... returning to the beautiful depths of this song... it will always mesmerise me. It's been 15 or 16 years now, I think. I feel connected to this song in ways I struggle to describe. It goes beyond words... ❤️ Does anyone else relate? Also, if anyone sees this comment, I'd love to read about how this song makes you feel, and what it means to you. What do you feel the song is conveying, what do you feel the essence of it is is trying to express? I'd love to read about other people's personal interpretations of the poem (in the extended version) and songs lyrics. Thank you if anyone sees this and replies ❤ Wishing you well as we spin forwards and backwords upon this terrestrial globe, of much wonder, pains, and mysteries that call xxx
It makes me think and repudiate everything I'm always told to acknowledge as the truth. It makes me look at myself and acknowledge my own desires and compare them with the way I actually behave, just like we all do. It's a love song to a future so far ahead that I know I'll never see it. I hope it turns out well for them.
A great version of a great song. Very different from Roy Harper's original but every bit as good in its own vizi-gothy way *grins* Loved that you still have Roy reading the poem to introduce the song...
It's Roy Harper, who they are covering with this song. The spoken bit in the beginning is actually a track called "Bad Speech" off of the same album as Hope.
I was not put here by anyone in fear I came alone as me Just an idea in a long chain of discovery Surrounded by the same you Sometimes your tide pulls me out to sea And I die in a thrashing curse Sometimes we are kind More often, I doze So far up the beach that those who try to reach are burnt alive in the searing heat of the desert of my dispassion So far removed, I never hear the water 'Cept once or twice a month when I see a mirror And I refuse to believe in some of the things that are said to be here Let alone those that are not I'm trying to change my direction Ours is pathetic in my own humble estimation I love the planet The great benign she-wolf Benefactor Spinning gently on towards the red giant four aeons hence When all the rose gardens are consumed in the flash-fire of flying time She'll leave alone to you" When you look at me From your own century I may seem to be Strange archeology But when the winds blow From this direction You may sense me there In your reflection I think I feel you But I will never know As the swallows leave And the children grow I wanted to live forever The same is you will too I wanted to live forever And everybody knew When I caught you there In tomorrows mirror I thought felt you Jump out of my skin Throwing oil into My blazing memories Filling empty footsteps I was standing in I wanted to live forever The same as you will too I wanted to live forever And everybody knew As the falling rain Of the northern jungle Hanging droplets on the leaves Bombards my brain I hear you Across the room A sea of daffodils spring into bloom You are the mist The frost across my window pane And again She moves her body And her whispers weave And the world spins And tells me that I'll never want to leave As I think of you From this dark century I will always be With generosity That we both may share The hope in hearing That we're not just Spirits disappearing

heard the guys last night in Bucharest - amazing live performance, they have definitely come to a mature, refined and most powerful musical expression. they have force and sensibility and one can only trust their future music to be great and inspiring. Cheers mates!

@FivosRazor1 I really like Manowar and I really love Anathema, they are the true opposites of my life. Strenght and validity are both Hands of the Creator. So Anathema and Manowar are just Expressions of the same Force.... Truth and Love are just going Hand in Hand!!
aaaaaaaaaa, esta es una de las mejores bandas de los ultimos años, simplemente son tan virtuosos, muxos musicos kisieran tener su maestria y esa delicadeza para componer tan exelentes canciones.
Such a... touching... poem at the beginning. Anathema has some incredible music for those in the right mood, as does Katatonia. Easily two of the best doom metal/alternative metal/rock bands out there, if not THE best.
I was 17 when I first heard this..now I am 32..I'm glad I am who I am and I am here again.
Same story, same age ! 👋

I always return to this song.
I love how he recites the poem! His voice is thrilling!
A poetic picture of sadness.
Perfect.
Anathema oh my lovely band
Ive seen Roy Harper do this song live several times, back in the 90s; this is a great take on the song. Big Like to Anathema.
Esta canción me trae demasiados recuerdos, excava en el interior, saludos desde Colombia.
As the falling rain
Of the northern jungle
Hanging droplets on the leaves
Bombards my brain
I hear you
Across the room
A sea of daffodils spring into bloom
You are the mist
The frost across my window pane
And again. . .
We're not just spirits dissapearing...
Still the most beautiful song of all time.

Anathema creates a whole universe through one song :)

greeting from Iran, you are in my top 3 list...keep it up guys
I was not put here by anyone in fear
I came alone as me
Just an idea in a long chain of discovery
Surrounded by the same you
Sometimes your tide pulls me out to sea
And I die in a thrashing curse
Sometimes we are kind
More often, I doze
So far up the beach that those who try to reach are burnt alive in the searing
heat of the desert of my dispassion
So far removed, I never hear the water
'Cept once or twice a month when I see a mirror
And I refuse to believe in some of the things that are said to be here
Let alone those that are not
I'm trying to change my direction
Ours is pathetic in my own humble estimation
I love the planet
The great benign she-wolf
Benefactor
Spinning gently on towards the red giant four aeons hence
When all the rose gardens are consumed in the flash-fire of flying time
She'll leave alone to you"
When you look at me
From your own century
I may seem to be
Strange archeology
But when the winds blow
From this direction
You may sense me there
In your reflection
I think I feel you
But I will never know
As the swallows leave
And the children grow
I wanted to live forever
The same is you will too
I wanted to live forever
And everybody knew
When I caught you there
In tomorrows mirror
I thought felt you
Jump out of my skin
Throwing oil into
My blazing memories
Filling empty footsteps
I was standing in
I wanted to live forever
The same as you will too
I wanted to live forever
And everybody knew
As the falling rain
Of the northern jungle
Hanging droplets on the leaves
Bombards my brain
I hear you
Across the room
A sea of daffodils spring into bloom
You are the mist
The frost across my window pane
And again
She moves her body
And her whispers weave
And the world spins
And tells me that I'll never want to leave
As I think of you
From this dark century
I will always be
With generosity
That we both may share
The hope in hearing
That we're not just
Spirits disappearing
