Cool. Cool bits. Cheltenham is where Brian Jones grew up and knocked up some young girls. He lost his younger sister when he was 3 or so. By all accounts a super conservative place. Funny how grandpa saved pics from Jimi's show or whatever. For every 10 people who saw him play or met him there are 100 that said they did.
I watched a vid that pointed out Jimi broke the neck of his guitar while smashing it through some ceiling somewhere and had to record the solo on "Purple Haze" with a Telecaster. Any more info about the solo? The time stamps of the events seems to match; must've been a hell of a ride in those early days ;)
❤we all have a bumpy road starting out sometimes but my hero kept goin never giving in to the misalignment of the planets because jimmy was from another planet and had the mind to break on through and blow our minds with added pedals and a wah and what new sounds he made they put down some dam good music in a very short 4 years if he continued we can only imagine what he would have blown our ears with ❤
Great narrating on a very busy "small club" tour, (To honor a contract as Chaz said) with nifty little bits that happened on the slog. Fish and Chips!!!?! Aah. Next month Purple Haze comes out. The tea kettle is getting ready to whistle. Good exposure on Jimi's thoughts about Dylan's writing at the time.
6:33 Look at the length of Jimi's fingers. If you think you're going to be able to play even halfway as competently as him, start with having long fingers
That video is a bonus extra on the DVD "The Jimi Hendrix Experience Live at Monterey" they do Like a Rolling Stone and Stone Free. Jimi is wearing the fancy military jacket.
Good video Nice info. Thanks. 😊😊. All i know is Jimi loved to play guitar to deal with life. Heard he had a bad childhood. Neglected 😢😢 He was way beyond his years. One of the best, if not the Best ❤️🙏💯🎸🎸✌️✌️. SRV too ❤️🙏💯🎸🎸
Great series of videos very insightful and well produced! I guess the Exp Hen's pulled the RUclips video so thanks for the Facebook post I've never seen that footage and enjoyed it very much. !!!!oxo
So Jimi unlocked the sonic possibilities of the Electric Guitar using blues as his canvas like all true creative geniuses he basically built his entire creative infrastructure from the ground up I mean some people do that backed by a vast wealth of Knowledge like Pablo Picasso's cubism or Igor Stravinsky with the Rite of Spring and some folks accomplish the same thing in a smaller way in a more autodidactic way like Joni Mitchell and Jimi Hendrix or Jaco Pastorious. Now for years I was sure that someone would take those sonic Guitar possibilties into jazz. I guess you could point to Tejre Rypdal but it never really happened. I'd like to add what Hendrix and Coltrane had in common was an extreme hungry creative honesty.
Absorbed. Totally. His fingers are like boney long tentacles! So much to take in here, brother. So much pain in this period- like he made it to this point by the skin off his teeth- and he's a rollin' stone but more like a drifter who gives his pound 20 cent away or whatever to some cat at the door and slips back on into the night. Crazy. One more thing: that sunburst Strat knock-off he holding in some of those shots is so cheap ...It's probably a Kay. But hey...muthafu@ka can play. Good stuff man. ThNK YOU.
@@BELLY_BUTTON_WINDOW True. I'm sounding like one of those people about which my dad and mom used to say "he thinks his sh** don't stink." Jimi, Noel, and Mitch were payin some heavy dues in those early days. They were a little more worried about having enough to EAT!!
Chelmsford corn exchange. Against mods came in, The mod problem. Mocker's dominated rockers?? (Brain May)said he saw 'the who' 60s. Big fight, said he was defending( i forget) Rockers i think? Not 100% sure. He picked up the chair he was sitting on, ready to defend himself. I can only imagine the who' shows mid late 60s probably violent. Not everyshow. i have no idea, im assuming because 'The who' were heavy band.
If someone could wrest away the rights from the con artist "sister" and allow the real fans real glimpses I would cheer them on and even help. You can help by not buying anything Hendrix.
“Why does it have to be chips with everything?” 🤣🤣🤣 Welcome to England Jimi! Why didn’t you go to an Indian restaurant, or Chinese, or a hotel restaurant. You should’ve spent your money on fine food and not drugs! You Hippies!
@@BELLY_BUTTON_WINDOW You mean you’re just a bunch of raving hippies! But thanks for replying anyway. I understand bc I used to be a raving hippy myself, until I started to grow my brain. I thought about singing “I’m” instead of “We’re” and that’s how I sing it to myself, but either way is equally fine and that’s as far as I’ve got with it.

I wonder how long it will take for Jimi Hendrix and his music to be thought of as 'old hat', irrelevant or uncool (which is how I think of Elvis, Frank Sinatra and many other former greats). There doesn't seem to be any sign of it happening with Jimi in the 53 years since he died.
Hi MrDino, very interesting question. In my opinion, the source of Jimi's creativity and gift to the world was deep and powerful, as his music attests. This is a question that deserves further exploration, which I hope to do. Many thanks!

I gess that was his sword in the stone moment then and after that he wielded the power to make masterpieces ballads and cherokee trippy
Well said!

Wasn't the first live recordings of the Experience in Paris late 1966?
yes Olympia ‘66
Yes, and I have just added the link in the Community Tab. Enjoy!
London had a lot of clubs
back then.
Compared to the U.S.
True, but England offered a singular media....TV/radio

Well, we're all human!

left handed people.
lefties have Rights too
They used to though, do you know the term 'mollydooker'?
Just call us unique.
The white Stratocaster didn't get stolen.. he sold it..
Perhaps! I wasn't there, so must rely on second-hand accounts, some of which differ. Cheers!
Jimmy Page had a black Gibson
Les Paul and was stolen.
186 guineas in 67 would be over £4k now, so not cheap to replace a stolen American strat.

Awesome Chris, thankyou for sharing that!
I have discovered that I am conversing with a bot.
Please disclose your self if you are from China or other nefarious locals.
Would a bot notice that in some of these pics, Hendrix is playing a hardtail Strat? Asking for the bot...
Rest assured I'm a genuine living Hendrix fan!
