Sjonni's Friends will represent Iceland with the song "Coming Home" at the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest in Düsseldorf (Germany), taking place on the 10th, 12th and 14th of May.

I can't help crying when I listen to this song! It makes me think about Sjonni Brink's tragical end!
I feel like the phrase "criminally underrated" is used too much. But this? This shines. It's one of the best(if not THE best) Eurovision songs I have ever heard. Criminally underrated.

2011 was my first ESC I followed and this was the first song from ESC that I loved. So it has a very special place in my heart.

This is one of my All Time Favourite.
I know that when you are listening to this song for the first time, especially when you are non english native, you will probably miss this part of the lyrics which I think is precious:

If Sjonni had been singing this song it was about love to a girl, like that many other songs, but when these friends are doing the lyrics are to Sjonni and it becomes so emotionel.

Sigurjon ‘Sjonni’ Brink the original singer sadly died his wife and friends knew that sjonni would have liked the song to remain in the competition and did this in his honour such a mark of respect

Call me crazy, but I have a feeling that this song is going to stick to people's mind long after the ESC contest, despite no success in the contest itself.
Why? Because the song is cheerful and almost anyone can relate to the lyrics in some way. The one's that have lost a loved one, the one's that have been a way from home for a long time, the one's that are realizing that the grass is not greener on the other side, the one's that are crazy in love. I could go on and on.

It's also very easy to sing along with these lyrics. It's maybe not the song that gets the most attention at the moment, since it's not in your face so to speak, but it will mature well IMO.
They are called Sjonni's Friends because Sjonni died right before the competition so his friends are singing for him
