Look teach. I don’t know you. I found you through tiktok. I just graduated from HS and have been super depressed that my senior year ended so sour. That the world is just so big and scary. That I don’t know what I have interest in stuff espically my favorite things I used to enjoy. But I have interest in this. For the first time in a really long time I feel good and that I actually like something. So thank you.
I am an art historian and i watch all of those lectures for the second time already. They are amazing to the smallest details. Huge respect and thanks for the bliss time enjoying all of them!
Came from TikTok but i’m happy to be learning about art history ❤️ recently tried to take online classes for it but got overwhelmed so this is a great way to take it easy with no pressure
finally someone who can teach me art history without making me fall asleep 🙌 i take art history online and have not been able to remember anything from lectures bc i zone out so easily, im about to binge your videos thank you for these!!
My ap art class was cancelled two months before submission due to COVID my senior year. I genuinely enjoy these videos and tbh makes me tear up because I miss art class and art history lectures.
Thank you sir for the excellent class. I'm in the Army stationed in Germany for a few years. Thank you for helping me to better understand and appreciate some of the amazing art and architecture here.
honestly i found this bc u seemed funny but as someone who is planning on going into teaching history/art history subjects this is really helpful i really appreciate it mr travis ty
Hi Prof, the way you talk about the Renaissance myth sprouting from Vasari's hagiography of the Medicis is mind opening, and makes me think of it as similar to the Pre-Raphaelites - a beat up over a small opinion.
I’m a carpenter and I came from TikTok. I always appreciated old school architecture. You’re basically showing everything I have a love for building! (With the best references!) I’m watching backwards because it’s just what I do, but I did see the Star Wars and lady Gaga comparison to help people understand! Good ingenuity
Honestly, I’m enjoying watching these for fun. You should start a podcast if that is something that would interest you! I’d listen the hell out of that
Thank you for the lesson. I can puntualize, 24.05 minute, this is what WE think after Romanticisme (XIX century) about middle age art and architecture...Infact this way of thinking "middle age isn't naturalsitic or realistic, they don't have monument or art that can express it, thay wasn't able to" os totally fake. Or speaking about "the dak arge" (my god, thanks to the UK school). We still stay on a XIX century way of thinking to middle age. But infact it ins't so and in Italy we study middle age art in a different way. (I studied in a diffentent way). Thanks again for the accurate deepening of the argument.
Travis love to throw in the term 'sexist' every 15 minutes. It gives him the cache of a real with -it college professor chump who's job is on the line if he doesn't toe the line.
You don’t understand Catholic practice at the time, lay persons were not encouraged to, and mostly were prohibited from, reading the bible themselves, and very few did. Not only did one have to read Latin, and to be able to afford a book, a priest was required to interpret it for lay persons. Christian reading for the laity was limited to texts prepared for them by the Church, like books of hours or other prayer books. A tiny number of literate aristocrats might get away with it, but no one else who wasn’t clergy could. Your understanding of Christian practice seems to be limited to that of modern Protestants, which is very different.

Or should I say “Western Art” because you’d probably fail me for sharing “old school”. Being a carpenter I really need to extend my vocabulary 🤣

Why not eliminate the 3rd, 4th and 5th repetitions of the points you want to make? One or two repetitions is more than enough! We get it already.
