Thanks so much for uploading the full part I & II of this, Phil! Always wanted to see what else was featured. Also, major props for uploading the complete “Russian Giants” installment!!
You're Welcome Grant. I think the Fans of Wings Of The Red Star should petition the Discovery Channel to rerelease the series on DVD/Blu Ray and Digital Download since it comprised of 13 Episodes.
Pretty awesome that the "translator" @19:00 is none other than Sergei Sikorsky, son of aviation pioneer Igor Sikorsky. Sergei was born in 1925, then he was 60 and looking a lot like his father, Igor. Great interview here from 2015, 30 years after that 1985 airshow ruclips.net/video/2rEaBkgMK7w/видео.html
in another doc on the an124 they asked the british for help with the brakes on the landing gear. they were naturally told to **** off :O crazy to think that a modern twin has more power than an an124! love the guy talking about the supersonic performance 1:07:12
Mi padre alguna vez compro un video en VHS en Monterrey Mexico, que llevaba el titulo de "Alas del Futuro" Le Bourget Alguien sabra como o donde lo puedo buscar?
@@NeoExtentialist The MD-11 was first developed in December 1986 as a modern replacement for the antiquated DC-10. Assembly of the first prototype started in March 9, 1988, it then rolled out in September 1989 with the first flight being held on January 10, 1990. So in a way, the MD-11 is an airliner of both eras(80s/90s) no matter how you look at it.
What an arbitrary question? Seriously, who loves the MD-11, that much? It was a colossal failure compared to the Boeing 747-400 its contemporary and the eventually widebody twin 777-200 that replaced it.
Ah, great memories of this air show.
Thanks for posting.
good old videos, thank very much!!
