I am seeing in a lot of comments that the real DJing is dead. I disagree. I search for my tracks for like a month before every show that I do from Africa to South America India Russia to Lebanon sure the beatmatching is not what it used to be but I think it has now been replaced by the search for good music all over the planet because of the internet. Nothing ever is really dead, one just has to search for life.
Oh so having invented this artform in 1978 you expected the cuts to be beat perfect after just discovering how to do this, be realistic? How do you think some of the greatest musicians in the world sounded when they first picked up their instruments?Do you not realise that then you had only a handful of djs doing this in the whole world and the equipment was very primitive, these guys had to invent the artform from nothing, no youtube, no tutorials, just your own imagination and skills? Thats why today you have little kids being able to dj to a high level because all the resources are already there .In 1979 you were lucky if you had direct drive turntables and the faders were not designed for fast cuts and in the bronx you were lucky if you had electricity.
Back in the day, when DJs played beats, they couldn't just copy and paste a 10 second beat to a long timeline in an mp3 like can be done now. Instead, they had to have two turntables with the same record. They play the beat they want on Turntable A and have Turntable B set at the beginning of the beat. Right when the beat is about to end on A; they flip the switch have it start playing on B; while it plays on B, they rewind A to the start of the beat and switch it again when the beat is about to end on B; thus creating a continous beat out of that small segment of the song without the vocals. Additionally, (not featured in this song), an MC can rap over this beat.
@@ViewtifulDarnell by the way when you scratch that used the vinyls so back in the time you better doin a great prestation while you destroy the vinyls because you can't doing this eternally
When he walks around the whole room and comes back on beat 🔥🔥

You can have vocals in the get down part as long as it gets down example of this would be "one monkey don't stop no show" the "ahh sookie" part
Perfecting Kool Herc technique.
All jokes aside every time when I have a DJ gig, and I get nervous, I watch this scene to remember from the wisdom keeper, who created this ✨
When DJ's were real.
@Matt man not really. No skill involved anymore

Sure it wasn't as instructive as they make it look.
It is as they say it. It took me a few hours of intense practice to get it right 15 years ago.
