    😂I am laughing so hard. I’m with you about making test garments. I don’t have the patience to make a garment more than once. It does make sense to make a test but I don’t do it.

      😂😂😂 Glad you can relate! I went out and bought sheets to use as muslin…. I still can’t bring myself to use them 🤦🏾‍♀️ 😂

    Great video! I don’t sew over pins because they always bend when I have done that in the past, but that’s more of a reason to not do it! Yikes! My body is so different that the finished measurements are a must😅😂! Plus I prefer more of a tailored look. Thank you for sharing this fun video in your she shed! ❤❤❤❤

      I want to start making more tailored garments so I definitely plan on paying more attention to the finished measurements 😁 I’m going to start doing better 😂 Thank you for watching and sharing! ♥️

    girrrrl, this was a great video and I love that you’re living on the wild side in this sewing streets😂. I love that you prep before a project but what if its too small because you didn’t check the finished measurement and /or you didn’t pre wash. I have been sewing more with wovens lately and they ALL shrink, just some thought before you start stitching. Great video❤

    • @weceestyle
      @weceestyle  4 месяца назад

      I’m so happy you enjoyed the video and thank you for your concern! ♥️ I haven’t experienced any shrinkage with the wovens I’ve worked with as of yet. *knock on wood* I nearly never work with 100% cotton and the denim, faux leather, and satin I’ve worked with this year didn’t shrink on me. I typically cut a bit larger to air on the side of caution, but if I am concerned about shrinkage with a particular fabric, I’ll certainly prewash. If for any reason I cut a garment too small, I’ll attempt to rectify the issue by adding a gusset or a side panel. If that’s not achievable, then I just give it away to a friend or family member on Facebook 🤷🏾‍♀️ It may suck, but I sew enough that I’ll achieve a win in another project and I just take that as a learning curve and try again. This is also why I shop for affordable fabric, mostly sales or clearance fabric, so I’m not wasting a lot of money if a sewing project doesn’t work out.

    I use my measurements and the pattern piece measurements for fit. Have I failed, of course, but not that many times for it to be an issue after more than 50 years of sewing.

    When I got lessons on a new machine, they said to not sew over pins. I got magnet pin holders. I do not cut around pattern pieces. I have a bar height dining table so I can layout and cut out on that. I am too old to get down on the floor.

    I'm pretty new to sewing patterns also. Sometimes I'll place a old store bought garment over the paper patterns then cut a little larger. It works for the most part.

    Use an old sheet for your toiles or fabric you don’t like any more.
    If you don’t make a toile, measure the pattern pieces - you have a good idea of the final piece will fit.

      Thank you! I purchased my first set of sheets last weekend, and I measured a pattern piece for the first time to determine what size to cut this week. I’m finally going about this the right way lol Thanks again!

    I am with you. Ironing is a must. I am a perfectionist. Prewash is extremely optional. Usually for batik print fabrics.

    I enjoyed this video! I don’t make mock ups either, lord knows I need to. I always make sure the fabric is on the grain. I always look a sew along if there’s one available. I buy a little extra fabric because I always mess up since I’m only an advanced beginner.

    • @weceestyle
      @weceestyle  4 месяца назад

      That’s what I need to start doing- looking for a sew along before I start working on a project! I’m still trying to figure out a good amount of extra fabric where I don’t think I’m overspending, and I’m not stuck with a bunch of scrap. How much extra do you buy?

    Use old sheets or something similar for your muslin garment. It does have to be actual muslin fabric. You can pick up old sheets at a good will or other thrift stores

I sew over my pins occasionally depending on what fabric im working with and I definitely work on more than one project at a time. looooolllll. This was good!

    Hi! I love this video! It made me chuckle. I be just bought muslin. I made one muslin piece. I’m not sure it helped me with the fit much. I’m like you, just so excited to start a new project.
    I love your blouse. So pretty!
    What are those things that hold down your pattern pieces down.

      🥰 Aww thank you! I’m so happy you enjoyed the video! I just bought some material to use as muslin and I’ll keep you guys posted on how I feel about it 😂 My blouse is S8839 and I use washers from the home improvement store to weigh my pieces down. They’re $0.20 - $0.50 a piece depending on the size at Home Depot
