There is another important element to consider in narrative filmmaking when shooting with multiple cameras: sound. You want to have matching audio in your shots, so you can't make a wide and a close shot at the same time. Keep the differences as minimal as possible. Never rely on wireless lavalier microphones alone because they can cause lots of problems which can not always be controlled. Often lavaliers will not sound not half as good as shotgun mikes. If you want to capture that great performance, you need great audio too.
While the specific software used to show the various camera angles at the 5:28 mark is not specified, this type of feature can be found in most major video editing programs. One example is the Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve 17 Studio with Speed Editor (Activation Card), BH # BLDRSEBUNK. bhpho.to/3w2LBJM
What if i used two different cameras but for different scenes ? So like if i rent a red helium weapon 8k for an important scene but then used a canon c200 for a quick easy scene ? Would it look stupid?
There is nothing to stop you from doing that, but why not just have the same camera for the film? That way everything matches. The C200 is a great camera if that is what you can afford. Thanks! -Joey P
@@BandH ok thanks i was there in the store i bought a new microphone but I'll back there soon to get the new lens B&H the best store=El mejor tienda de camaras
You may have to get very creative or simply position the camera outside the frame of the shot of the primary camera. Wireless audio may also be helpful. >Mark
Great Video, thank you. I would like to know which is the software you used at the end of the video, where you choose from multiple angles simultaneously during editing?
Are there any disadvantages of using Sony a6500 as A-Camera and Sony FDR-AX53 4k camcorder as B-Camera while shooting interview? Will it be problematic to sync the colors or any other issues afterward? Thank you!
If at all possible the best scenario for multi-camera shoots is to have the same camera. However having two Sony cameras is not that bad, as cameras from the same manufacturer will be easier to match up. You should be able to work the footage to get them to match in post. Thanks! -Joey P
why in the hell are we still syncing audio in post in 2018? is there no options to get the master audio to all cameras on set wirelessly ? like a wireless hub or something?
Set up a video studio nearly anywhere with this SlingStudio Mobile Production Kit from B&H. In addition to the SlingStudio hub, this kit includes a battery for the hub, a CameraLink wireless camera transmitter, and a USB-C expander for USB hard disk or flash storage and local Ethernet connectivity. Since the SlingStudio can operate without a mains power connection, you can set up a studio to broadcast over the web from anywhere with a network connection. All the accessories included in this kit fit right into the included backpack, along with other essentials such as an iPad or Mac used as a controller, storage media, and any cables you might need. For more information on the individual items included in this kit, check out the descriptions below...bhpho.to/2wMzT4z >Mark
can tell somebody, how i can make a flat-pciture profile with an action came like a GoPro ..??.. or is better to use a GoPro + a extern recorder but i get the problem with some unterwater shots. I use a a "A-Cam" a SONy FS7 + an atomos recorder.
+specialpaul In the Protune settings on a Hero 3, 3+ or 4 you'll find a color setting with a flat profile or color. Choose Flat and you should get what you're looking for.
anyone know how i would match a6300 with nikon d5300? would i just have to shoot without picture profiling on the sony because i really want the slog and gammas
When matching colors on cameras from different manufacturers the X-Rite ColorChecker Video is a great tool to have in your kit. This will allow you to better match the colors in post production. You may also want to shoot with the A6300 in a Log Settings and from there try to match it to the Nikon. bhpho.to/2tzBxsd Thanks! -Joey P.
So...are we saying that you were not aware that programs will sync using audio to 1/30th of a second...way more accurate than using the clap board...I know my editing software does this for up to 4 cameras automatically...
There is no one best editing software, there are many different options and which is the best for you really depends on your own personal preferences. Some industry standard options that B&H Sells include Adobe Premiere, Avid Media Composer and DaVinci Resolve Studio. bhpho.to/2CDNqhq bhpho.to/2FkPygV bhpho.to/2nhwN85
I normally film with 2 potatoes and a avocado. The potatoes film at 240p and the avocado films in 480p it’s pretty disappointing. In post I have to compress the 480p down to 240 and it just looks terrible. A potato is $0.50 and a avocado is $1.50 biggest waist of money ever

I only got 1 question:For example, you are filming dialogue with 2 or more cameras, how you can hide another camera in scene.
You may have to get very creative or simply position the camera outside the frame of the shot of the primary camera. Wireless audio may also be helpful. >Mark
Thanks for the tips!!! Very helpful.
but how can we hide the cameras so they cant be at the video
Good question, i wonder too, especially in action movies
This is more than enough information for a starter
great video you guys! love the info!
Woah...you covered almost everything...thank you very much I’ve got my answer...
Great Video, thank you. I would like to know which is the software you used at the end of the video, where you choose from multiple angles simultaneously during editing?

+B and H Thank you. :)
look full screen at 5:56 and it says Premiere Pro CC in the upper left corner. I don't believe Premiere Elements offers this function yet.
Thank you, yes are right Premier Pro. Would you know if Final Cut Pro offers this, or something similar?
Not sure, I only use the Adobe family of products but I would think that they probably do.
Hi. Should you use a camcorder and a DSLR in a two camera shoot?
Cool thanks for sharing

B&H Photo Video Thank you!
Just to give u a heads up all cameras don't have to be the same when doing a multicam shot
I'm new to this why not? Im using mirrorless cameras. Can I use a Panasonic G9 and Fuji X-T3? That's what I got. Using for multi angled interviews.
Thanks for great work
I'm using go pro
What software do you recommend to open the .mts video format?
I wanna shoot with a camera that shoots 1080p 60 frames and my iphone as well which is 1080p 60 frames. Is that possible??
The Nikon D5600 DSLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens, B&H# NID56001855 would be a camera that is capable of shooting Full HD video in 1080P at 60 FPS.

i remember when we did a short film in our college, we only have 1 camera, its very hard to make camera angles between the two persons talking,
