I love how a lot of the time, the more legit a band is the more streamlined and utilitarian their setup is. In a world filled with tone snobs and pedal junkies, it's really refreshing to see some folks who just love to play and only give a shit about equipment as far as the straightest line to the sound they want to hear.
hivemonkey3 I mean when you're on a tour you don't want to mess with your gear. When you're writing on the other hand, either you have a sound in your head that you are looking for, or you want to be inspired by interesting gear. Different philosophies for different situations, and different people.
I know exactly what you mean. That is partly why I have only ever really been an acoustic player. I've always just LOVED the sound of an acoustic guitar and nothing beats the feel of it to me. I just love to play.
These kinds of episodes I like the most of all rig rundowns. Chris once again showed that he is naturally "made" for this job! Cool people, nice atmosphere. Thanks PG, cheers from Czech republic! :)
Marissa is a legendary bad ass. It’s so hard for a rock band to be an original anymore, seems like it’s all been done before sometimes. They restored my faith in new music when I discovered them 5 years ago.
This band is making some of the best, heaviest music today. They just know how to make freaking great albums. Im blown away that their gear is so minimal. This is definitely one of the best Rig Rundowns.
Marissa, who absolutely rules: "I am not a fan of reverb." Me, who (ab)uses reverb as a way of hiding sloppy errors, imperfect palm-muting, and string noise: "Yeah, that makes sense."
I love Marissa’s answers to questions. Well, more like HOW she answers interview questions. She has this quality about her that makes you want to hear more.
THIS BAND IS THE BEST. The sound they pull out and then their awkward interviews, they prove you can be a human, and a rock goddess (or god but Marissa you rock!)
I saw them a couple weeks ago and they sound amazing live. Mike's sound is just massive. They don't need another guitar player, he anchors it all perfectly. I was floored at how great he sounded with a simple setup. Makes me look at my pedal board and wonder what I'm doing wrong.

It'll make your dad proud...probably. Too funny. I know zero electric but very little acoustic. This band's bass player is the best I've seen in a performance in a long time. Maybe my dad would be proud if I tried bass...?
Love this band so much, cant get enough of them. Ive seen them live a few times and they put on a great show. Glad to finally learn what that little warp effect she uses is, the pedal was all taped up at their shows i couldnt tell.
This is so great I have wanted to see a SF rig rundown and its what I may have suspected, more shear talent than gear which makes it even more mysterious.
What a cool girl! Great personality and great way to play. Definitely a good music and guitar player to follow on this very strange days on music. Keep rocking Girl!
I often find most of the best players I know (Whether that be creatively or technically) Don’t have a lot of interest in gear. I guess the reason they are good it’s because they spend time playing , not sitting on Internet forums arguing about tube screamer variant’s with strangers
One of two greatest interviews on Rig Rundown. The other one with Unknown Hinson. Both equally entertaining and insightful in a hairy frizbee kind of way, you know? Two great guitar players non the less. Keep 'em coming.
I SAW THAT GUITAR!!! It sounded and looked incredible, knew i wanted one like it, so i bought a shitty $60 guitar, threw a $80 bridge pick up and i love it😁😁😁
Hell yea! No, I'm not holding up the metal (rock on) fingers, but I like this band. Marissa is one of the most interesting guitar soloists on the planet, and the band sound is chaotic bordering on gloomy mayhem. I hate describing sounds cuz a cat may pee in my cab. But really...and seriously, if there were actually life anywhere on radio anymore I could see this band making enough cash to retire comfortably. I wish that were the case. There is no radio life to be had however, so the bands who are out there touring and pushing out new music are really heroes. They aren't getting a nice salary, benefits, or a retirement pension for doing what they do, and with no hope for a big record deal what's the motivation? To start a career in physical labor when they become road worn? ..cuz that's the reality of it for a lot of (especially touring) musicians. But at the end of the day, it's obvious they do it for the love of the music...and for us. So to all you guys who are going from stage to bus or hotel and then to the next stage? THANKS!
I think it's partly just because she's tiny and so the around the waist strap is more comfortable, but also because a few years ago she was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, so not having that weight on her shoulders probably helps.
Like everyone else, love Marissa, love the band. She’s not just a great soloist, she’s a great songwriter and musician. one of the better interviewers I have seen with her. And King Mike.
I came here to try and find out what pickups Marissa uses in her strat and a short time later I decided it doesnt matter all my gear sounds fine as is!
The way that she just refuses to play up the usual marketing hype around gear is so fucking funny to me. Idk if she's just awkward or deliberately fucking with them, but the deadpan way that she just refuses to elaborate on so many things sends me.
She's funny! I watched one of their gigs a while back and was blown away. She rocks like a mofo. Her playing reminds me of Tony Iommi. The gig: ruclips.net/video/WQgZ2U7J2nc/видео.html
9:21 is it possibly just the wood that smells of pish? I’ve got a pine guitar that faintly smells of pish, but I know for a fact that it’s never been pished on.

those losers you are talking about never made music anyone cares about. all good musicians feel like her
First and third best live shows I've attended. Patternoster is as fierce on stage as she is awkward in person.
What was the 2nd best show?
"Is your dad proud of you?"
"I think so. He loves rock and roll."

They gave the guitar to her BECAUSE SHE ROCKS

Probably its your hands that suck!!! Practiced more and spend less time in alot off pedals!
@@gvibes69 Insightful comment. First day on the internet?
This is really making me rethink my gear. If she can do so much with such a simple rig..
Its in your hands if you suck with little gear you gonna suck with alot pedals etc!
Thank you Premier Guitar. Never heard of them, now I have got a new favorite band.
Been waiting so long for this, thanks PG! Love Marissa.
Best Rig Rundown ever. The anti Joe Bonamassa.
She’s way cooler too!
Joe uses no pedals.....
That was one of the most enjoyable rig rundowns ever. Good job Marissa. Thanks! :D
She's a hoot ... and a shredder!

Everyone with the put-down comments should watch more than 5 minutes
Rig Rundowns are how I find my new favorite bands. I have a feeling I'm going to be a huge Screaming Females after this.
9:23 one of the funniest moments in rig rundown history.
Never heard of this band until this video. Thanks premier guitar, I love them now
if tina belcher started a band
She kinda sounds like Louise too. If she was really stoned. Like, really, REALLY stoned.
ruclips.net/video/F_XaIuw6K6Q/видео.html
I always knew Tina would grow up to be a shredder
Their band and ours shared a practice space, met her several times and she is a cool chick! Glad to see them getting noticed, great band.
i’m in love with marissa’s teeny little voice
She is hilarious!
i feel like i know less about her gear now than before watching this video, but i had fun watching anyway
I would love to see Marissa do standup some day.
I feel like we just watched footage of an awkward first date. That said, Marissa is cool as hell.
It'll make your dad proud...probably. Too funny. I know zero electric but very little acoustic. This band's bass player is the best I've seen in a performance in a long time. Maybe my dad would be proud if I tried bass...?

What a sweet young woman ! Already impressed by her talent now impressed by how honest & unpretentious she is 😊
This is by far my most favorite rundown ever, Marissa is so awesome
This is so great I have wanted to see a SF rig rundown and its what I may have suspected, more shear talent than gear which makes it even more mysterious.
All I can say is. My favorite rundown ever.
What a cool girl! Great personality and great way to play. Definitely a good music and guitar player to follow on this very strange days on music. Keep rocking Girl!
This was...actually really great to see. Didn't know i needed this bands rig rundown!
Just started watching ,and I'm smiling harder then I ever have before 😆
One of the best guitarist I’ve ever seen live
She is HILARIOUS. Holy crap. haha. And she's a Pumpkins fan!
My god, what a delightful rundown. Is Marissa an enchanting guest or what!!!!!
Great interview with those great musicians. i love Screaming females and listen to them quite regularly 🎖🎖🎖
Never clicked so fast on a Rig Rundown video.
So good seeing Earthbound getting some love... Amazing pedals!
And here I am watching this again !! I luv it makes me smile ☺️
And I’m here again 😁
It's amazing how great of a guitarist Marissa is while knowing relatively little about her guitar and amp setup.
It just goes to show that having all the fancy gear doesn't make you a better guitarist. If you can play, you can play.
I often find most of the best players I know (Whether that be creatively or technically) Don’t have a lot of interest in gear. I guess the reason they are good it’s because they spend time playing , not sitting on Internet forums arguing about tube screamer variant’s with strangers

The cat pee smell is the fiberglass insulation behind the speakers.
I had an s-500. I put a seymour singlecoli-size humbucker in, and the output was way off balance.
Those single coil pups are pretty hot.
alvvays tight to see a Ric in a rundown
bad dum dum tss
Marissa is so wonderful
One of the best I’ve ever seen.
I SAW THAT GUITAR!!! It sounded and looked incredible, knew i wanted one like it, so i bought a shitty $60 guitar, threw a $80 bridge pick up and i love it😁😁😁
And !! I'm watching this again ,she just cracks me up 😄
Hell yea!
No, I'm not holding up the metal (rock on) fingers, but I like this band.

marissa is one of my favorite people ever
i love her dry humor
Awesome - guitars, amps, and standup.
Love this interview! Screaming Females is a great band.
Awesome band, keeping the rock alive
I’ve got that same era concert lead and I’ve had two of those 212LH cabs...the speakers can rub if you play really loud and heavy.
I really wanted to hear how she started using the weird strap button placement & the strap around her waist....
Yeah I had noticed the strap button placement and first suspected she was left-handed! :-)
I think it's partly just because she's tiny and so the around the waist strap is more comfortable, but also because a few years ago she was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, so not having that weight on her shoulders probably helps.
Steve Albini showed it to her and it helped alleviate her back pains.
This is my favorite rig rundown lol!!
Like everyone else, love Marissa, love the band. She’s not just a great soloist, she’s a great songwriter and musician. one of the better interviewers I have seen with her. And King Mike.
I love Marissa since 2013
I have a bit commander too. It's awesome.
Really fun rig rundown

Best Rig Rundown ever ?
The epitome of Plug-N-Play
She's funny! I watched one of their gigs a while back and was blown away. She rocks like a mofo. Her playing reminds me of Tony Iommi.

She's great!
Marissa is the coolest.
What's funny is that there was never an episode of Lassie where someone fell down a well.
You should have asked him what the bass strings are at cost. So we can see how much mark up there is on them.
Pretty Cool video, thanks for posting this video
9:21 is it possibly just the wood that smells of pish? I’ve got a pine guitar that faintly smells of pish, but I know for a fact that it’s never been pished on.
great band. check them out if you haven't
I have. You're right.
Preaching to the quior. Keep spreading the light though, the world needs more Screaming Females.
Seeing SF again in a couple weeks, can't wait!
That's a rad shirt right there, Chris!
You guys don't need another guitar player!
I'm in love with Marissa.
That Earthquaker pedal is great and that solo in Agnes Martin is also great. Also nice Shellshag shirt Mike.
I was amazed by a video i saw on the AV club.... shes pretty great...and pretty funny
I thought she was left-handed, when I noticed the strap buttons on the *lower* horn on both guitars.
Those are set up for the waist strap she uses.
I love Marissa!
She's shorter than her 2 guitars end to end so WHERE THE HELL DOES THAT MIGHTY VOICE COME FROM?!
I think that the sunn concert, beta lead and sunn enforcer are the best looking amps on the planet.
That is a sarcastic funny lady ha 😁
nice! marissa is looking healthy!
Do a ty segall rundown!!
this girl is great haha
I really enjoyed this episode! ' It's good to heart and soul' great! = )
She is a trip without even trying
I only heard one of their tunes but it seemed like Melissa wasn't to much into "chord tone soloing", she liked to play "outside."
She is intresting! Thanks spotify for introducing such an intresting band.
Find someone who holds you like Marissa holds her S500
Adorable
She's the best
Rig Rundown for Jonathan Wilson or Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters please!
