Moleskin is very popular in the agricultural industry in Australia too, in the form of pants, especially on outback cattle stations. All my work pants are moleskin because of the comfort and durability the fabric offers.
Great video. There is surprisingly very little info about moleskin on RUclips or anywhere on the web. I just purchased several yards of heavy moleskin fabric from Brisbane Moss in the UK. I'm going to make a couple chore coats for the winter. I'm curious if you know how moleskin should be washed.
They usually call for dry cleaning on moleskin garments that are already made up, but I've seen that they also can be washed on gentle or hand washed inside out if trousers. For tailored items, dry cleaning is probably safest.
It's more of a slate blue--an old Havana model from Suitsupply circa 2016ish. I believe it's just wool in a winter finish, so it does have that soft look and feel.
It got its name mole skin from the miners working underground and the fabrickept them warm under ground like moles ive researched this in depth believe me
Interesting. I've not seen it though certainly know about summer cashmere as another example. For me, I guess moleskin still is associated with winter most of all.
Sure. IMO, because it's a heavier fabric, it drapes better on the legs if it's not too fitted, but if it's too baggy, it can be tailored down. When I think of Italian moleskin, I think of the brand 40 Colori, and theirs are "comfort trousers," so also not slim.
This is one of the earliest vids, so sorry about the sound. I discovered by heating/HVAC fan was being picked up by the mic. I think the newest ones are improved.

Thanks for the information. IV yet to see a video this in depth on moleskin.

Interesting but the sound on this video is horrendous. Gotta fix that, mate
do you prefer a dressier cut for your moleskin or a 5-pocket cut? Same for your corduroy.
Since I wear tailoring almost always, the more formal or dressier cut.
amazing-- thank you for the info!
This is great, thanks man!

Moleskin with its soft velvety finish actually feels like a mole, hence the name.
Good information. What kind of turtleneck is that you have on?
I think this is a SuitSupply one in merino wool.
There's also summer weight moleskin.

*Can Italian Moleskin trousers be altered to be more fitted?*

@@gentlemenscholarsclub I want to start wearing trousers like moleskin instead of jeans, like going out etc
Like to tell u something about presentation - never use time telling about what things are not.
Nice info, but horrible sound! The noise is terribly distracting.
