I love this room. That trunk is huge, and those wood drawers are awesome!
i have learned so much from this wonderful artist since acquiring his book Fill your Oil paintings with light and colors, Thank you Si Kevin!
You are a true artist and teacher, Thankyou x
Love you, Kevin! Yours was the every first workshop I had ever attended in 1998!
me as well, Dee.!! Did you go to the PAPA workshop in Steamboat Springs in Sept of 1998?? I was there.!
Wow, I can't believe I didn't know this until now. Thank you!
This topic is what I love about paintings, what a great interview and demo, I love to find the design in a landscape and in favourite paintings, it's a fascination that never stops. I'm one of those artists who are maybe too shy to take the steps you've discussed so brilliantly with my own work, on a regular enough basis to get where I want to go, and not all of us have mentoring set up. This looks like a really lovely demo from Kevin, always enjoy listening to him.
You’re such an amazing teacher! Thank you!
After watching this, I feel as if somebody just told me that I'm from another planet! My compositions often don't fit conventional ideas of focal point, but they come pretty close to fitting the Magic Grid! When I apply it to older, abandonned work, elements suddenly have connection! Theyre not perfect, but they may be workable. I know this language!
Beautiful presentation, very informative. Thank you🕊
I found this video very intriguing and the demonstration painting inviting and this style appealing.
Beautiful painting!
As you are looking for your next painting scene... the camera shows another scene composed with you and the background! Wow!!
While I really respect the artist, his achievements and his work,I am still wondering whether he was actually able to tell us how he gets to make that magic grid he speaks about through at least one quarter of this video. He does show the grid lines on paintings he has already done, and at least I kept waiting to see how the grid is made for a new painting…but then, next we see him with his canvas and paints ,out in the open, with the grid lines already made on the canvas…..Hey!…wait…we’re you not to tell us how to make this MAGIC grid, why are there vertical, horizontal and diagonal lines where they are…..?Is there something I missed?
Looking forward to the arrival of my DVD!
Loved this thank you. Can you apply this to watercolour painting?
Hello from Townville SC
I'm just watching this but wondering if different brains are attracted to different "order" or no order. There is much science about left/right brain, executive function, etc. So would we ALL walk into the same museum room and be attracted to the same painting based on some primordial need for connection and order?
What easel is that?!
What is that laser line maker?
Sure wish I had my copy of the video I ordered a month and a half ago
Sorry Patrick but I am not finding an order with the name Patrick Carver. Did you perhaps order with another name?
Please send the email address you ordered with and what product and I can check further into this for you.
Sue Henry
Where is volume 2?
Can you use this with watercolor?
What is the pink/orange dot on his forehead? Around 8 minutes into the video

Thinking it’s a bandaid of some sort?
Might be a plug to keep his thoughts from tumbling out in senseless and random order. If it is, it didn't work.
Thank u! I KNEW IT HAD A POINT. @@jeffm5682
I think this 'magic grid' is something I saw on a da vinci video??!! looks too complicated to be of any real use for me.!!
Wow, longest advertisement I've ever tried to view. But, I guess a video priced at $146 needs a lot of long commercials. Like a chapter in a book or a lesson in a classroom, advertisements must open with the big idea then drill down in the morass of details in a logical manner. Sorry, this just droned on and on and on and on and on...well, you get the idea. And still no idea what a "magic grid" is or how it is different from the golden mean.
It's interesting, but there's nothing really new here, it's mostly composition oriented and has been used by fine artists and illustrators as a matter of course. Alignment of Notan patterns, ditto. Also, there's no way I'm going to grid a painting, even if it's to guide composition.
This seems like a commercial to buy his video, that is okay if it is, but why call it a lesson
you might learn to draw first ? I recommend the NATURAL WAY TO DRAW ,great book for students and professionals, It will improve your painting as well...
Too much introspective talk.
