Possibly my favorite tv interview from her. She's charming, cute and I find her British accent even nicer than usual. This interview reminds me of the kind of interviews that you see on paper but not on video. I wish there would be more like this one. Thank you for posting!! :D
Most Gillian Anderson fans knows that her accent is natural. She was raised in both the US and England. She spent her youth in England and her teenaged years in America, which forced her to change her original accent. (which she says in the interview) But, because since she has worked in years for both places, her accents changes quite easily. Personally, I think she has a hybrid accent at times.
What you forgot to mention was, When they moved back to the US her family still kept the London home and would go back every summer for a number of months
You're a wonderful actor, Gillian (loved The House of Mirth), but you have what I like to call the Deneuve Factor. You get hotter as time goes by. "I Want to Believe" I can appreciate you primarily for your creative talent, but my slobbering, cave man libido gets in the way sometimes.
Ummm no, She was raised in England till she was 12, Then when her family moved back to the US they still kept the family home in London and would go back every summer and stay a number of months at a time So you sooo wrong
@@mikekaraoke First of all,in reference to"Ummm".There is nothing special about Englishness/Britishness. Grow up.Both her parents are American, so she is American, the american accent s here accent, its not a case of her being forced to change the English accent she picked up.The particular British accent she has adopted ,the accent of the wealthy of London is a brutally terrible and thats not just my opinion,it smacks of elitism and snobbishness.so yessss, I am so correct.Look, her family also lived in puerto rico , so by your non logic she would also be puerto rican....
@@benneden2580 I am not "worrying" about it,pet.I find it disappointing ,thats all.I am not the only one who finds the particular English accent she has adopted to be horrible, also pretentious and snobbish. It came from a social class of people in England who thought they were better than everyone else. And then there are Americans who assume it is "the" British accent, when its only the accent of a small subset of the London population, there are hundreds of British accents, the Welsh accent is a fairly nice one.She is an actress, I definitely cannot be too far wrong in saying she may be putting it on because she thinks its a special accent or something.Bizarre . It doesn,t make her look like a nice person at all .There are nationalities that are special but English/ British is not one of them.
@@61505 Well that is your opinion, Not a fact! Millions of peopel around the world love us Brits hence why we have loads and loads of tourism every year Yes both her folks are American, However she is not full American as she was brought up in UK from when she was 18 months old till she was 12! And then when she did move back to the US, They kept their London place and went back every summer without fail. Until she moved back perm in 2001 No it isn't terrible she picked up the posh English accent as she was from Crouch End-Yes that is your opinion as I and many others do not agree with you about that However what is fact is that we havea grey ball in the sky called: The moon that is fact! Yes her family for 18 months did live in Puerto Rico, Ummmm by my logic no that would not make her Puerto Rican LMAO She has American blood and raised in England full time for 11 + half years-But would then come back to live in UK for nearly 6 months at a time until 2001. So she is a British/American

I love her. Always have, always will.
Paul O'Grady and Gillian Anderson on the same show...
imma die now kay?
I prefer Paul O Grady's accent/
@marcus24000 Her accent is more English in the UK and more American in the States, apparently the effect of growing up in both countries.

She spent years growing up in London, do your research and not assume every famous person is American
She was great Paul Whitehouse was either off his head on something or very nervous, he was terrible
sometimes i think she plays up the English accent.
