Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is a video game developed by Koei Tecmo's Team Ninja and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. It is the third installment in the Marvel: Ultimate Alliance series following 2006's Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and 2009's Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2, and the first Marvel game published by Nintendo. Rebel OF The Underground dude Stan did so much for Marvel he deserves to be honored he made: Spider-Man, Nick Fury, Black Widow, The Fantastic Four, Hulk, Iron Man, Ant-Man (Hank Pym), Thor, and the Wasp heck the original Avengers lineup excluding Captain America was all characters created by Stan

@@DeltathRiylaan Not really. 4 for the Marvel Knights DLC pack. So likely another 4 for the Fantastic 4 DLC pack and another 4 for the Xmen pack most likely. That's 12 and if you count the upcoming free additions of Cyclops and Colossus that would be 14.
Been waiting for nearly a decade for a sequel, and what a better time to get one than now after the biggest Marvel movies came out this year.
I'm honestly surprised they didn't release any of them during the Thanos storyline of the MCU. But yes, agreed 100% with your comment.
I played for 10+ hours straight and didn't have many frame rate issues
I didn't have any, but the game did do that random loading thing towards the end of the story.

I'm considering buying it, i have an odd question. So I know there's an option to turn off the highlighted outline around your characters, but can you also get rid of the colored circle that's beneath the characters as well? Thanks in advance.
Stinky Pinky yes you can. Just turn off “contour lines” in system settings

@@AlejandroSantiago-kn6dg Ultimately, it's up to you. I'd recommend this game. If you're a Marvel comics fan and/or an MCU fan, it's definitely worth picking up and playing.

My brother and I are doing co-op just like we did 13 years ago and it’s just as fun! The roster is great! Kind of wish there was better alternate costumes to choose from tbh.
Hell yes dude. Same with me and my friends. We were planning getting the band back together and it was just awesome.
We all had the same gripe with the alternate costumes, but it was the only negative really.
At least they're planning to give some alternate costumes as free DLC and hopefully some in the paid DLC too.
I bought this game for me and my whole family to play, not just solo. My kids are big marvel fans, and wife while not that familiar with comics or superheroes in general, shes in love with Doctor Strange. We put in 5 hours yesterday and had a blast. 9/10 for me
I got kinda excited for this one. I miss these kinds of straightforward action co-op games. And now that the marvel universe is huge, I think its a good one to have around for local coop when my house is busy. I'm happy it turned out okay after such a long absence for the series.
My son and I loved playing UA2 on the Wii together. Got him UA3 on Switch for his birthday and we're loving it. It really kept the feel of UA2. Money well spent :)
I also enjoyed the Wii version of MUA2. I like how n-Space (Danger Girl, Geist) made it from the ground up for the system and isn't a downgraded port of the 360/PS3 version. It has the same story and cinematics but the level designs, layouts and assets are all new/different. It also has new cinematics done in silhouette style that actually goes into the story some more, new/different dialogue, exclusive boss battles, exclusive playable characters in Cyclops and Blade, all the characters have 8 powers instead of 4 like the 360/PS3 version, and new objectives to complete.
It's simple yet so enjoyable, glad it still retains the magic of the first two games.
I'm having a ton of fun playing this game! So cool! Thanks for this review.

Loving the game man 5 hours in and I'm having a blast. Wish more games were like this fun and straightforward but with excellent writing and characters. As much as I love open world games I'm getting open world fatigue.
I was initially annoyed they resurrected this franchise just to be on Switch. But since i'm getting the Switch Lite soon, i'm happy Ultimate Alliance 3 got made at all. Sounds fun. Definitely going to get it.

I am loving the game so far. It is so fun and I love the look.
been playing it for a day now and the combat is satisfying as hell for me. far better than the older versions. Combat is fast and more tactical, as if youre playing a ninja gaiden game. Team Ninja did a very good job on this game. As im playing it i just want more and more content to come for this game.

This was one of my biggest surprises I've played at E3. Nobody was trying the demo and the Nintendo rep really sold me on it as we were going through co-op. Definitely should pick this up if are a fan of beat-em-ups, (TMNT vibes are very present in this game too).

I played it last night. Got the high school crew back together for local co-op. Here we are over 10 years later and enjoying it as much as we did back in the day.
The game feels just as it did back then. If you're looking for anything different, it's not here, aside from characters of course. What they did was perfectly capture the feel of the original, which I always thought was better than UAII. The roster is also better than both of the original games.
Yes, we don't have the F4, but I'll gladly trade them for the Guardians of the Galaxy. And we also get to play the Asgardian Bros for the first time. In terms of performance, the framerate never dipped for us, but I will say there were some frustrations with the camera. That said, the camera issues weren't common and eventually you get used to it.
If you were into these games, you'll love this. If you hated them, definitely don't get this. It's more of the same. I'm happy with more of the same, but I know some people see it as a negative.
My ONLY gripe is the lack of alternate costumes like the original had. It's a minor gripe, but I do wish they had included more options.
I think the fantastic four will be in one of the dlc, and i heard that either the 30th or the 31st they will add more costumes. Not sure about the costume part though

I couldn’t agree more with your closing statement. MUA3 might not be winning any GOTY award at the end of the year, but there’s just something liberating about how nerdy and arcady it is. Unlike what SE’s upcoming Avenger game seems to be going for, this one is just super focused on simplicity and fun, and I love it.
I'd say in terms of "The Bads" maybe some of that was patched in the day one patch because I haven't had any technical issues at all. And in regards to the heroes being unbalanced.. some definitely seem stronger than others, but it's a coop RPG so balance isn't a big issue. Just make the team you like. Name one other RPG where there aren't some characters who are better than others.
How can you praise this gameplay but hate on Marvel’s Avengers? When you hit enemies they don’t even react to it.
I literally ordered this game the day before release. I forgot it was coming out. No reviews or anything just purchased off memory of the old games.
They took elements from the mobile games as well. Just less play to win more play 4 fun

I kinda agree but not all the obscure characters are underpowered, Crystal is soooo strong and I love how she can combo her own abilities together

I don't know about balancing, but Luke Cage and Iron Fist absolutely wreck on my team. Bonus that the devs made charge attacks feel so badass to land.

Super fun game with kinda wonky level design. it’s strange though for as much issue I take with the games camera and boss balance at time (kingpin,dormamu) it’s so much fun it feels like a middle market ps2 game in 2019 and that’s refreshing honestly
We have been playing until act 3 just now and we were having a blast. It gets SO much better as soon as you level up and get more special moves and upgrade nodes.
The camera on coop can be a nightmare sometimes though. Easily the worst thing about the game.
Easily can be fixed if you still play go in camera setting and change it to heroic it makes your characters look bigger and you can lock on to enemies now

My team was Spider-Man, Spider-Gwen, Wolverine and Psylocke. I'd probably say it is a 9 too, the end was epic and the game was exciting with the way it kept throwing characters I enjoy at me.

Great for switch and marvel fans, as a Sony console fan this is a title I am sad to miss :), as I loved the first 2 and played them on the PS2. I am just happy the quality was done well. Perhaps one day we might get this, if not well it is a terrific get for Nintendo :)

@@noneofyourbusiness1998 very true and not crying at all, as PS4 has a good 75 to 100 4 to 5 star games an another same number 3 star fun good ones... but I will say both this game and Cuphead are titles I knew as soon as I saw it I would miss not being able to play it on the PS4 :) but again kudos to Nintendo even if it is a timed exclusive it is good for them and their fan base.
Thank you for shedding some light on the technical limitations of the switch. That's my biggest issue . If the switch is strong enough for a game this size.

Constructive Criticism: I don’t see how you stress that this game suffers performance issues and still give it a 9. It’s like a Diablo-lite (which I’m all for) but don’t think it should be rated as being on the same level as that one since didn’t you give that one a 9 too? I admit I’m too lazy to go back and double check. It just makes me question your rating scale since you really have a bias towards the subject material as giving them a lot of credit for a “bad thing” being frame rate issues.
That being said, I appreciate your passion for Marvel and you seem to actually enjoy your time in the game during your review.

Loving the game but I'd have to disagree with the "more popular characters are more powerful". Everyone at the start are practically the same level, it's only when you progress through the story when you unlock specific characters in the story that they may be a few levels stronger. Overall Team Ninja did an awesome job on it.
Yea my problem with it at the start was all the power levels felt the same. Hulk was being taken out as easily as black widow that's insane.

I built a switch XL for just this type of situation. So I can still be portable and have the docking station power. Looks amazing on a 10.1 in screen. No complaints here

It's a damn shame it's an Nintendo Switch exclusive, but without Nintendo this game wouldn't even exist because Activision lost the rights to the Marvel games which is an shame. Keep this up Activision you and EA Games are going to end up like Konami in the next 10 years.

I dont get it. The heropool is a really big deal in this game as you describe it yet you say that the heros arent balanced at all but still gets almost perfect score. Biased much?

the exhaustion effect sounds like thermal throttling. When the GPU and CPU get too hot and have to dial it back to cool off.

I didn't notice any frame rate issues. Although after recording the game I did notice some dips in the recording that I don't experience with other games.

you played any danger room yet? I just ordered the game, so should have it by thursday. I don't think it;s worth me getting the DLC till I have some high level characters though, or I won't be able to unlock the characters.
MA3 is a great game that should've won game of the year. Only one small issue, it's too many iso crystals.

I see many reviews between 7-8. Thinking about it , but seems too short for $60. Do you usually bump the score one point if the game is a switch game? It seems your switch reviews are usually little big higher than other reviewers scores.
Or you can be your own judge of the game and played yourself that's also an option
@@hyperdark22 True. I was just wondring since it seems any Nintendo related games usually gets a few points up from Dreamcastguy due to being a nintendo game or exclusive. I usually like the games he likes, but I am always a little hesitant on the nintendo reviews.

-Bad games with one outstanding moment
Only thing I don't agree with much is the writing. The writing for this game was alright but the lack of unique dialogues was extremely disappointing and at times the writing felt like it was trying too hard. Deadpools scene was just an absolute bore "tacos and chimichangas hahahaha"

Seems like this game would have benefitted from using fewer characters, because it seems like from this review, you end up with over powered and under powered characters. The problem with some beat em ups is that they are just too easy. The last good beat em up that I played was Yaiba:ninja gaiden z. Ultimate alliance seems more geared towards really young gamers which is also a valid market.

The story was quite boring though and didnt really make sense. Thanos disappears for most of the No where fight and when Thane appeared and X men school destroy, no mention of why the school was almost completely empty etc to name a few. The gameplay is fun though! I didnt know anything about Ms Marvel but shes op

ThatArjun what are you skeptical about? Is it because it’s gonna be a live service style game? That’s my biggest fear is that because of that it will release with not very much content like most live service games. Other than that though I’m personally super hyped for it, an avengers game like this is long overdue
