mann I'm just tired of people trying to compare both games, seeing as they're totally different now unlike their predecessors. I'm happy they both coexist and don't try to compete with each other. (you can see by some twitter posts)
Dead Island 2 is decent… i would only pay maybe $25 for it. My biggest gripe with Dead Island 2 is that the weapons have no weight to them and you don’t feel that “connected punch” in the melee combat like you do in Dying Light 2. Plus Dying Light 2 is half price right now on steam with that new awesome gore update. I say only buy Dead Island 2 when it’s on sale for like 25 bucks.
Dead Island 2 graphics are pretty sick mainly because its not an open world its just sections split up. Dying Light overall is a much better package. Graphics crafting story combat exploring. Day and night cycles and more zombies.
I agree. I was surprised how crisp that dead island looked especially with how long it was in development. I thought it would be dated to an extent but it wasn't.
This video is pretty darn good! I've been seeing a lot of hate towards both games and you don't express any of that, which I love seeing! All in all, well put together video with a good amount of depth put into these comparisons! Well done!
@@daviddelligatti9052 I did play the first one actually it's been a while since I visited that game though. I may have to boot it up to see how it holds up today.
@@daviddelligatti9052 Ofc I have and it's a blast ever since I discovered it (which was back in like 2017 or 2018, I don't remember) and I don't think that Dying Light 2 is bad after the updates. Yes, I agree that Dying Light 2 needs further improvements on the major gameplay aspects and the next DLC to truly make it on par with Dying Light. Lots of improvements and improvements will be continued to be made and I have faith in Techland that they will pull it off and bring back the DL1 feel in terms of parkour and night experience which is coming out somewhere in June if I remember correctly. Combat pretty much already feels like DL1 now after the recent update. Ragdoll weight and posing still need improvements cuz for some reason now, they are like Dead Island 2 which is pretty basic, but the physics has been much improved (especially on PC, Idk if the hotfix has come out for consoles yet). I refer to ragdolls and it's physics as separate, cuz one of them is on par with Dying Light, while the ragdolls are now even more downgraded. Hoping it's just a hoax and not an intended change. This type of stuff has happened with Dying Light 2's updates multiple times, so there's a possibility that the gore (idk if since I don't see any issues with it) may or may not be expanded in the next update, but ragdoll physics will most likely still get a lot of changes. That's what I'm personally feeling at the moment About the performance of Dying Light 2, my game has been running pretty smoothly on my PC the past couple of updates and I have ray tracing on (which back then, ran like ass). About locations, yes I can agree that the map is pretty repetitive compared to 1 and I hope Techland nails DLC 2 with the multiple biomes and everything. Very glad to see also that it's focused on the infected rather than humans
DL2’s world is just perfectly built for the gameplay it might not look that great but it’s almost perfectly crafted. Plus the mix between parkour and combat once you have it down can be crazy.
Oh I think dying lights world is amazing. It's great how all the gameplay elements like parkour combat, etc blend so well together. Also I like the feeling of being chased and running for my life doing some pulling off some crazy parkour sequences
Awesome im glad you enjoyed the vid! But yes these games are super similar at the core but outside of that they are so different in the way they play and mechanics. Im enjoying my tiime for sure.
Yeah dying lights combat has a different dynamic. From the enemy design to adding in the parkour when fight zombies. I do like dead islands element interaction though
Awesome I'm glad you enjoyed. For what it's worth I did enjoy dead island a lot and its more streamlined approach. I just allowed me to have mindless fun without thinking about a bunch of mechanics
@@passman36 I get that, and all the mechanics in Dying Light 2 have a tendency to clash sometimes, so Aiden will try to grab a ledge when I'm trying to just wallrun and vice versa, and this becomes especially problematic in some Runner challenges. I just think I'd feel a bit naked when I can't even climb, which is a pretty basic survival tactic in a zombie apocalypse. Might give the game a go anyway though, appreciate your opinion!
@@demyx0067 no I totally understand. I feel like dying light definitely creates more tense moments when trying to run and climb things to get away for sure.
That's fair. What I find is that games that are a bit more streamlined it's easier for them to maintain my attention. Sometimes with open world games I get that fatigue and stop playing them for a while and then I come back to them later.
Not going to lie DL2 is Getting better with the updates but it needs to have all the same material as the first one let us lift the hood of the cars even though it's no gas it's still parts to use have more entry to buildings like the first one also other than that its great.
That's a great comparison. Im not sure how i feel about the tone of dead island. A lot of humor and parody but it didnt really land with me. It felt like all of it was a joke and we shouldnt be taking the zombie apocalypse seriously
The graphics took a huge stepback in DL2 (compared to the first game). Even with the highest settings and resolution, ray tracing etc, this game still looks ugly and unfinished. The textures and deatils are blurry and lame, kind of 2000’s game alike, not to even mention the lighting and shadows. I just compared it to Dead Island 2 graphics, because a lot people were saying to me that I’m disappointed with DL2 graphics due to my GPU being weak ( GTX 1650) but that wasn’t the case. DI2 on the lowest settings looked even better than DL2 on the highest so I realised it’s not the matter of graphics card, it’s the matter of the game having shit graphics.
I feel like dead rising is often forgot about even though it was the game that really kicked off the zombie survival with crafting crazy things and all that.
Ok I clearly misworded it towards the end of the video. But I clearly stated it wasn't an open world game earlier in the video and even showed that you had to load into a different area. Or did you not watch that part ? 🙃
I personally prefer Dead island 2 because the DL2 open world feels very copy paste. Plus, I like how Dead island 2 doesn’t take itself so seriously. Dying light 2 takes itself WAY to seriously. I like the stupid humor and lack of a brooding story. Too many zombie games have to make the entire game about some lame “humans are the real monsters” narrative. (Cough cough The Last of Us 2)
That's fair I found the humor in dead island didn't really stick with me too much. What I can appreciate about dead island 2 is it feels more streamlined. There were times in dying the game felt overwhelming because it was so big.
Dead island 2 is a blast to play. I wasn't trying to slight it in anyway. It's just that if youve experienced dying then essentially you have experienced dead island
This must be console video. DL2 (DL1 is much better experience)is flop, clunky, cringy, woke yet start of game is graphics orgy,beautiful... Dead Island 2 on PC has some details ...well, consoles will catch up in two generations. BTW. COMPARING APPLES WITH ORANGES HERE
Lol not the reflections 😂. But I understand where your coming from. It has been almost 9 years. So I feel that more could have been done. But I'm not too sure on how the development cycle was going. And that may be the reasons why some things feel absent.
@@passman36 The game feels very incomplete for the development time and the reflections I feel like that's just a basic thing that games should have at this time

Bwahaha $25 though?! Admittedly I don't think this is $70 game. It's good but not great I can see $50 for this one.
Gotta progress the weapons and modify them. Plenty weapons with “force” perks/modification give you that satisfying punch 👊🏾
