Incredible. What amazing rods and craftsmanship. The test at the end was jaw dropping.
Wow. Im amazed. This guy really knows his sh.. what a master. I have never owned an Orvis rod, now I want one.
Praise Be To Our Lord And Savior Tom Rosenbauer!
Praise be
That was fun. I always go to Orvis and the fly fishing museum when I'm up that way. Thanks.
I love airports 😂 when I was a kid in the 90s my mom would drop me off at the airport and I would spend the day taking pictures. This was before 9/11 so it was much easier. I even worked in airfield management in the air force 😂
It’s impossible not to like Tom i did a school project on him last year
I love the factory tours!! Orvis replaced a tip on my super fine 2wt, couldn’t tell the difference from the original tip on that delicate stick!!!
Thanks Orvis for the Recon repair! Rod looks great.. cant wait to try it out.
Hey Cheech and crew! Awesome
Thanks for visiting Vermont
The Barre Vermonter BS
So cool. I just bought a Winston Air 2 and loved that video. Would be really cool to see all the major US brands places that are making stuff in the US.
It’s not easy to make “how it’s made” videos fun, but this crew could make anything fun. Cool vid.
Absolutely fantastic video. Thanks for sharing.
Great look into rod making. Thank you.
That was absolutely an amazing video !
Glad you enjoyed it!
Fantastic video !!! Thanks for sharing.
Praise be to Tom 🙏
Dude, JFK is right on Jamaica Bay which has phenomenal striped bass and bluefish fishing.
This was very cool. I learned a lot. Makes me love my Recon even more.
Thanks Cheech and Curtis. I really enjoyed the video. I have several Orvis Rods but not a Helius but after seeing this I may have to consider one, and sell off my off brand models, even though I am not a big fan of the white label.. lol Thanks again and enjoy the videos and the store. Tight Lines
Orvis should bring back Superfine graphite series. Especially, the 7'6" 1wt.
Nice video, good to see where my new SFG came from. Tenkara rules😁
1st. Thank you for all you do =) love the vids, love the store!!
Excellent video guys! But give me a smooth casting Winston from those boys up in Twin Bridges every day!
We agree. We fish both
Me at the beginning of the video: man how cool would it be if Tom Rosenbauer was there.
Me a few minutes in: Sweet tender mercy....
2:39 are you guys triplets, great video
Awsome
What I see here is that there is a hell of a lot of work that goes into making a fly rod. I never considered the Orvis Helios because of that god-awful white sticker. I just have to rethink that. Tom is not a big guy, my guess is his family tree comes from the East of Poland. I am not a big guy either and I am taller than the legend. I interviewed for a Job with him, I thought it when well, never heard another word, no matter a week and a half later got an offer to go up to Alaska to fly so it all worked out. I guessed when I said that the Scott G2 8' 2wt was a better rod than the Orvis 7'9" 2wt may have had some effect on it. No matter, I got a decade of steady year-long flying out of it, then I when seasonal till I retired last year. Given a choice, I still think I would rather go fish with Curtis but that is another issue.
Have had my Helios 3D for over 2 years now and have caught a lot of trout on it. Orvis surpassed my expectations with that rod 🎣🐟
Could I have the broken one and then file a warranty claim? Seriously, it was cool to see how a quality rod is made.
You guys should follow up with a tour of an "over seas" rod factory.
How long are you guys in VT, I live really close and know some great spots around there
Sean and Brigham look like theyre brothers
Tenkara slander is the best
I agree. I don't know why really, but my hatred for Tenkara is absolute.😅
When Im been saving for 2 years for a orvis helios and not there set, and them breaking it
Stick figure 😎😎😎
I’ve sent my h3 back twice believe me they break
Any rod will break… for me the durability seems better than others.
Cheech, did you give the guy from Orvis that rabbit hat?
Yup
whys it take me like 5 months for a tip replacement though
Depends on lots of things. Most rod companies go through similar struggles.
they have a new replacement program where you don't have to send your full rod back and wait months. I broke my H3 tip section last month and had a new tip 3 days later!
Wait his name is Brigham. That's the most Utah thing I've ever heard
Ah NVM it's Curtis
Brigham is our cameraman. And he’s not from Utah 😂😂
Thanks! Interesting video. Hate those ugly Orvis white rod labels!
So do I. Looks terrible.
You should cast one. You’d forget about a label.
I did, I own 5 different models and yes I do like them - I can live with the white label, BUT I cannot tolerate the fact that Orvis no longer makes a fly rod with a hook keeper. Pretty sad, lots of us would have paid extra for that.
next time save yourself a day and fly into Albany. You literally fly past manch to drive back to manch.
Manch wasn’t the only stop on that trip 😬
that god damn white label is terrible. and its gonna be on the H4 as well. Orvis is really pigeon holing themselves with that graphic.
Ha ha. So it’s called the H4? You sure? They seem to sell super well but a minority don’t like the white.
