  • An Al Jazeera report about a documentary that showed how two men in New Zealand traced their ancestry to Taiwan. The original documentary was pulled from RUclips, and is not allowed to be seen outside of New Zealand, but this is a report about the documentary that was authorized to be seen by a global audience.
    I am publishing it here under fair use policy to illustrate my article at www.thewildeast...

    Lots of oral history in Kiribati connects Micronesia with South East Asia. Ambo, Buru, Kiroro are common places mentioned in Kiribatese tales which directly connect to the Maluku Islands of Ambo, Bouru and Gilolo in Eastern Indonesia. In addition Neineaba has often been connected with Seram Island in Indonesia.

      @TM686K 4 года назад +5

      @@randomguy1576 Yes you are correct it is Ambon. We still sing songs about the voyages from those places. However much like elsewhere in the Pacific we were not from one migration, there are tales of migrations from Maiawa (America, the Endless Wall) and Matang (Land of White People, the name I-Matang for white person in Kiribati literally meaning "From Matang"). Anthropologists originally thought Matang was the name for South East Asia (Light Skinned Austronesians) but the name for that place in Kiribati is Bukiroro (Buru and Kiroro put together) suggesting a possible Europe or MIddle East location as anytime Matang is mentioned in Kiribati tales they would state it was very far away (Even for Pacific Island sailing standards) and almost impossible to sail to. Migrations from these places though were minimal in comparison to the dozens of migrations from Indonesia, Taiwan, the Philippines, Borneo and even North East India (Proto-Naga and Assamese hill-tribes brought headhunting into ancient Austronesian mainstream Culture). Cannibalism and human sacrifice however was definitely a South American influence before its abolition from Samoa and other countries (The War God "Rongo" who sought constant human sacrifice was also the god of the Kumara, the Sweet Potato, indigenous to South America).

    • @randomguy1576

      @@TM686K In Indonesia, there is this one austronesian ethnic group, the Bataks, they are now a very successful ethnic group (lawyers, teachers, businessmen, professors) but i heard that they used to be cannibals. Human sacrifice is actually still being practiced here in Indonesia (at least in my island, Java) for people to get rich faster by negotiating with the spirits. They would sacrifice human or animal's souls or "tumbal" to the spirit. It sounds like it's a complete bullshit but it's so common here that ppl are not even surprised if they see things like this and they wont even think about it.

Rice is a dehulled dry land starch with minimal phytochemicals and nutrients, if you grate it, it is just powder. If you grate taro, green bananas or yams you will get a lot of slimy juice or sap which is usually toxic raw but is very medicinal when cooked, I think that’s what most people say is where the body building compounds are in.

      sanaa Constantinople because we’re our own races stfu bitch, let our cultures be our cultures. It’s a coincidence that Samo, Tonga and Tsonga are tribes in Africa, but in Polynesian culture and names, Tonga means ‘land to the south’. Idk wtf u mean by Samo and Tsonga is pronounced differently, stfu with your African supremacy and let cultures be diverse

      sanaa Constantinople No, you’re claiming that most of the Pacific / South Asian cultures and languages are so ‘pan african’ just because you think your race is so ‘supreme’. Sit your ass down, fool. Our cultures are our cultures. Silence yourself. Stop trying to make cultures seem like they’re related to each other when they aren’t. I'm Samoan, I heard there were similar names in Africa. I think having an African heritage would be awesome! Knowing that your ancestors braved not just the Pacific but perhaps the Atlantic as well you have admiration for them.
      I learned recently that there is a DNA connection between Madagascar and Melanesia, not sure about the African mainland but still cool.

    I don't think this is accurate. I have my DNA analysis last May 2018. My Dad is Polynesian, Genes doesn't change from father to son. According to test, I have Maori, Tongan , Samoan and Pilipino genes. Most Asian like the chinese, Japanese and Koreans, nothing shows any mix from their DNA, their results shows one thing, Asians. They are pure Asian, like the Taiwanese. This report is not correct.

      Other way around, Polynesians descend from the lapita cultural complex which inhabited the Bismarck Archipelago roughly 3,000 years ago and were of southeast Asian descent, likely leaving from Indonesia or the Philippines. They’re the descendants of Austronesians who left Taiwan roughly a thousand years earlier

      @@CP0rings33 Polynesians Asian bloodlines came from Mongolia who were the first people to settle and colonize the Amerika's over 45.000 years ago, Polynesians originally Kanaka were from the Inuit & Navajo territories, around 7.000 year ago a Kanaka fishermen called Savaii and his eldest son Maui and crew found themselves beach on the island we know today as Hawaii and it was from that time that they began ferrying their Ohana to and from Amerika to Savaii. There was also integration between those from the north west coast of Amerika and fishermen from the island of Te Kahukahu ote Hera (easter island) which occurred around 10.000 years ago, now how those fishermen ended up so far from their island is another story 😆. Another fact is the Kanaka voyager Papalií who settled Samoa over 3500 years ago originated from the island of Maui as did the voyager Te Fiioke who discovered his Aokealoa 1.156 years ago.
