You know who else would’ve needed something like this? Cassandra from Tangled. Or Sasha from Amphibia
This scene was so satisfying. Catra was so caught up in her own trauma that she never stopped to think about the people she hurt. Someone needed to tell her the truth, harsh as it may be, and DT was the best person for it. I legit applauded after their speech.
I didn't. Not at all.
This was something Catra NEEDED to hear to begin healing from the abuse Shadow Weaver had heaped on her. Catra was BECOMING Shadow Weaver with every passing day after Adora left the Horde, Shadow Weaver said it herself, she and Catra are alike in many ways and any further down the dark path Catra was walking could have resulted in Catra becoming lost to the Darkness. Double Trouble’s speech, while traumatising for poor Catra, was the perfect shock to the system that Catra needed to start thinking straight again.
Then as the cherry on top, she witnesses Horde Prime “Purge” Hordak, not long afterwards, before threatening Glimmer. For me, this is a mirror moment for Catra, a “This is what you could’ve and might STILL become,” moment. Add in Horde Prime’s obsession with Adora and Catra begins to veer away from the Darkness and back to the Light.
The only downside to DT’s words are they completely OBLITERATE Catra’s sense of self-worth and she now sees herself as nothing more than threat to Adora, Etheria, and everyone else, hence the attempt at suicide by pissing off Horde Prime.
I didn’t applaud DT’s speech, but it was a step in the right direction for Catra, and luckily for Best Kitty Catra, Best Girl Adora was there to catch her when she fell.
at 0:04 you can hear Catra just sob softly as Double Trouble says "They didn't need you" as Adora and I just-

I love Double Trouble's betrayal for what it eventually does for Catra, but... it just never stops being BRUTAL to watch. I think Perfuma's brand of therapy will be much healthier for her. 🙃
I haven't decided if it was funnier Perfuma just had a running list of Catra's issues and how to fix them, or that Catra wasn't strictly against the idea of therapy with Perfuma.

Honestly catra needed this, yes people have done her wrong in life but she needed to know that not everyone is the problem she is too. She really needed someone to tell her that so she could grow

Couldn't tell what hurt more. Scorpia telling her flat out Catra drives others away. Or Adora giving her a look we all know she longed for while saying she didn't need her and left her.
I'd say this was Catra's lowest moment, but then again, I know what happens to her in season five 😟
When DT said “It’s for your own good, darling.” I don’t know y but something tells me there was a pinprick of care 4 Catra, as they didn’t HAVE 2 tell her outright what was wrong with her..........but they did.
So while I can’t say DT put Catra above themself, they gave enough of a shit 2 give her the push she needed.

This why I love DT, they ain’t afraid to not sugar coat everything that needs to be said
I truly believe without this speech, she never would have saved Glimmer from the ship
Also the "didn't need you, left you" line showed Catra in season 5 that she was wrong adora would not leave and she 100% needs her
Technically both Hordak and Shadow Weaver were unhealthy figures for Catra to have in her life...but the point still stands.

I never watched the series but saw Double Trouble clips and I thought I wanna know more about this character. So when I first saw Double Trouble's betrayal I was sad for Catra since I thought they were her only friend left and seeing DT give it to her like that made me sad since I liked DT and seeing them do that goes against all my morals so it left me feeling conflicted over liking them . I mean I still like them. Heck I low-key love them 💕. But I wasn't so sure about their actions. But after watching some RUclips summaries ( yeah, I couldn't afford to watch the whole series ...) I finally got the picture. And honestly. I love Double Trouble even more 😍😍😍😍😍
