Gladiator Star Russell Crowe Criticizes Executives' Lack of Research

Russell Crowe, the star of the hit film Gladiator, has criticized the film's executives for their lack of research when writing the original script. Crowe claims that some executives did not even know who Emperor Marcus Aurelius was. The actor praised director Sir Ridley Scott for his artistic vision and said they worked together to improve the "s***" script, often staying up until 4 am to give the film more "morality, fibre, and strength." Crowe's comments come as Irish actor Paul Mescal is set to star in Gladiator II, also directed by Scott, set for release in November.
