My uncle gifted my grandfather a red Hyundai Santro in 1999 from his first job,soon after he went abroad and never came back, so Santro became an embodiment of their son,they loved it like anything, regularly serviced it from Sanjay Hyundai which was very far away from our home until Kothari Hyundai was established. I have many fond memories with the car since I spent my childhood with it, whenever I came on a vacation we used to go for a drive in our red Santro. Now my grandpa has passed away,my uncle is very well established businessman in the US and my grandma has lost interest in these worldly things everybody thought of disposing the car off as it was well past its prime and papers are not in order but I intervened and prohibited everybody from selling it as it’s close to my heart, you can say Santro is granny of my Tucson and Aunt of my i20. And I wish to keep it for as long as I can. Thanks!

We still own the Santro Xing 17 years old absolutely loved it. Never breakdown anywhere Have done 2 lakhs kilometers and still engine is smooth, good punch.
Our first car is a 2013 Santro which we still have. We have done 90k kms, been in two crashes one of which was major and all of us came out of it unscathed....it is part of the family now and his gonna stay in the family forever...
My family are the dealers for Hyundai in Pune and I still remember how excited we were when the first Santro came in to town. In fact it was under wraps in our workshop and Sirish came along with us to see it. It was love at first sight! ❤️ 😄 One of the USPs which made it sell like hot cakes besides the novelty value was the ease of ingress and egress, especially for older people with bad knees.
So much nostalgia watching the Gone but not forgotten series. My neighbour had a Santro and we had a Zen. Always admired the interiors and ease of ingress/egress it had.
We bought our Santro (XO) in 2006 and being our first car it was always going to be special. At the onset, we never intended to buy a Hyundai car... it had always been Maruti Suzuki in our heads but our neighbours and friends recommended (or rather compelled) us to buy the Hyundai Santro and we just complied for the heck of it. From the outset, we just loved it... it was a typical Hyundai show-off car- all 4 power windows, rear seatbelts, night mirror, rear wiper and defogger... all this in a budget car! What was Hyundai thinking?! Over the years, we drove many other refined and more powerful cars but none could match the feel good factor of Santro. I especially love the fact that it can be used as an automatic in the 3rd gear for almost any speed in the city. Most cars need to be downshifted to 2nd or even 1st gear while tacking speedbreakers on the highway but with a little effort, Santro does the job even on the 4th gear. We need such cars in the present age. 15 odd years later, the same Santro is still a regular workhorse which is just like how it looked and felt on the day we bought it. Lately, we bought Creta Turbo (not as a replacement) and part of the reason we bought such a premium car was for the assurance that Hyundai is a brand that can be trusted... the trust that we got from our Santro.
Very similar story to mine.2006 Santro XO in real earth colour, we replaced it with polo GT TSI 6 years ago but it was a good car, lots of features for that time.
The low end torque and pull without any lag of santro xing and zip plus upto 60 km from standstill can still put many modern cars to shame even now. Just don't want to sell my xing for that lovely engine. Great video Evo team.
I hold a 19 year old santro xing .the first of xing series .it's a very fun to drive car . I also own a 2018 Honda Jazz but the sporty feel that I get in Santro is incomparable to any car . Still gives me 16-17 kmpl(petrol) on highway. Santro has one of the best transmissions , feels like a rocket !
I still remember those days when santro used to be our family cars for a long time after the Alto. This was our second car and this was the first owner car which my father bought. I still remember those memories of the car. The car was very good and it barely had any problems. Today I drive BMW GT6 but still I remember those days of happiness.😊 Today I have almost everything in my life but except happiness so enjoy your days. Always enjoy with your work .❤❤
One of my families favourite stories to recall on dinners is how when I was 5 years old we were all out somewhere, I saw a santro parked across the road and I ran accross the street, hugged the cars bonnet and very sheepishly said "Santro, tu kab aayegi mere ghar". 25 years old now and I still keep tabs on latest Hyundai cars
My friend owns a 2003 /04 model Santro (Not sure about the year) but it never fails to put a smile on my face when I drive it. The best steering wheel on a hatchback imo. Such a communicative drive.
Mannnn,this is my fav video you ever uploaded Santro,the car on which i learnt driving after driving school Its the best car I ever owned 2000 model,base trim having no power steering and no power windows still it was a good car to have,it was fun to drive that car never gave any issues from my 8 years of ownership i changed only brake pads,exhaust and some gearbox part nothing else except basic service,it broke down once only in 8 years and it wasnt even a complete break down,got some issues in gearbox on highway.went to a garage nearby and he adjusted somehow that i reach home and i reached home safely.I still miss my santro for the joy and memories she gave to me and my family,truly its a worthy GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN car.The days driving car without power steering after hitting biceps and shoulders in gym,it was a difficult task but as i said i just loved that car.i sold it and bought wagonr in 2020 which i didnt liked,sold it back.bought beat which was unreliable,sold it currently owning figo 2nd gen tdci which is also a gem of its own time. Sadly ford went but i just want to keep this car as long as possible because no car can replace joy of driving a hatch with 1.5 tdci in same price
This video refreshed so many memories! Had a 2003 Santro Xing XG up until this year before we switched to Tiago NRG. The previous gen Santros will probably remain as the only manuals which are actually fun to drive in traffic!! Amazing low end torque coupled with short gearing... Absolute breeze in city traffic. We still have 2003 model Santro Xing 18 yrs old and 2 Lakh+ KMs and it is still peppy and works like charm. I recently did whole Leh ladhak route on it 😁 and it showed how reliable it is where lots of SUVs break down on 17000-18000 feet...it was zipping throughout those curvy roads. I have other cars too but nothing is like Santro😊😊😊😊😊😊
Had a 2006 Santro Xing XO which was recently sold owing to the 15 years NGT rule in the Delhi NCR. A zippy compact hatch, it never ever broke down, not even once, during its entire 15 years spent with us. The only thing I didn't like was the placement of the front power window switches and a slightly bumpy rear suspension setup. Rest was great.

We got the OG Santro, a year after launch in 1999. Been in the family for close to 13 years and then upgraded to i20 in 2012. So much memories with this car.
We have a 2003 Xing XG and it is still a class. It has crossed 95000KM and still the engine sound seems like a new one. I have to admit that Hyundai came to India and gave a huge competition to Maruti Suzuki and proved that Hyundai Cars are much better. Love for Santro continues and hence it is still in the market. Thank you @evo India for making the series on Santro. I had requested for this in your previous video on Maruti 800 Series. Thank you so much. Love your gone but not forgotten series. Cheers.
We still have a 2003 Hyundai Santro Xing XG variant in black colour, bought from Trident Hyundai in Bangalore. It costed like 4.4 lakhs on road back in 2003,which was very high indeed back then. We still use it as our only car and hadn't upgraded (rather didn't need to upgrade) to a newer car. Still drives better than most of the newer cars and suvs from Hyundai stable itself.
We still have our 2010 Santro Zing GLS.. We still treat her like our family member. She is soo lucky for us...She is The best car.. After 12 yrs now still she doesn't have a single problem. Santro is a awsome family car.
we had 3santro(1zipdrive & 2xing) all used till their life of 15years and all above 2.5lakh kms. Santro was so close to our heart n is till now........
I learnt to drive on the Santro. It was a navy blue Santro Xing top-end model with the washer wiper at the back and a defogger; all the "bells and whistles" at that point. The engine was peppy and spirited, the gearbox was easy to use. The high-speed ride was a tad bit bouncy but we did take it out for 200-300km stints every now and then. Had to let it go when it crossed the 85k mark on the odo. During its time in the family, the Hyundai had seen a lot and took a whole lot of beating but it never gave up on us. The car went on to solidify our trust in the Korean brand. Still, miss, wish I could have it for me now that I am in my 4th year. Great video as usual. Enjoyed the Zen nostalgia. Hoping to see some more in this series.
When I bought my Santro Xing GLS in 2010, driving it was really great fun, the power, pick up and driving comfort. The smooth and responsive power steering was the greatest charm with this car.
The low end punch in santro is amazing and you can drive heights easily in 3rd gear which most of hatchbacks now suffer even in 2nd gear. Clutch is bit hard as its older car but gear shift is smooth and acceleration is great . . . You should see the roofline - even after 15 years its still feels great - they have used some plastic which is of top notch unlike the cloth material being used now in all cars . Please show Skoda this roofline - may be they learn . . . :)
Had a lot of memories with my dad's 2008 Santro Xing GL! Then in 2019, sold the old one and bought the new one Sportz trim. Nostalgic car ❤️ All it needs a new facelift and it will sell pretty well.
Sirish bhai in my Family before switching on to Maruti Suzuki baleno 3 years ago, We were having Hyundai Santro twice one with older generation and another with santro xing GL Plus second generation model. Actually this car was everyone's choice if we look 10 years back for most of the family in India. I was also a proud owner of this legendary product as I miss a lot too.
Our family got the Santro Xing (Golden color) which I feel was a premium to us. Now our family owns a Hyundai Grand i10 Sportz AMT version. The best part of both the cars is the driving performance, ease of handling & best city driving cars. Hyundai Santro made a revolution on Indian roads by confusing customers go against the craze of Maruti & now it goes stronger even with the current i10, i20, Venue & Creta. Time for Hyundai to focus on safety & performance for Indian standards, price reduction would too help the buyers.

We had a santro from 2008, learned to drive it in 2016 when i turned 16 and we sold it in 2018 for a Bolero because we needed a bigger car and also a vehicle which could take us to our farm. Lots of memories with the santro, i dont think it ever broke down while we had it. The only major expense we had was changing the tyres and replacing a cracked windshield, the other was just routine service
Still have a 2006 Xing XL Automatic Without doubt one of the most reliable cars I’ve owned with service costs being less than ₹5000 even after 15 years. Engine is barely audible when it warms up and the 4 speed AT gearbox is still one of the smoothest shifting gearboxes as it gets up to speeds of 100+ kmph with ease. I plan to continue owning my Santro for as long as I can because the feel of driving the car (even though it is an AT) is still something very special to me
We have the santro xing xo 2005 model, and oh boyyy what a beast!!! I'm 13 now and when I was a kid around 5 or 6 I had rides to it in school everyday, having fun in it by going on a road trip and I literally have no words for the car because it still works like a champ and has always been one of my favourite cars till date
Excellent video which took me down memory lane. Our first car was a 2000 Santro LS model which is from the first generation. It did come with power steering, front power windows, rear spoiler and wiper. And its still going strong after 21years and 80k kms. First love ❤ 😍
I am still using 2006 Santro xing petrol and it's still performing awesome. Of course i have maintained it properly. Its been 17 years but it did not disappoint me . I am still doing rhousands of kilometers in it and fully satisfied.
my brother bought a second hand (2005) Santro zip drive in 2013, it was still good. I personally believe these kinds of cars really good for India roads. Economy and realiable.

My dad's 1st car was a 2006 Santro Xing eRLX XO Euro 3. We still have it. It has all the modern day goodies such as all 4 power windows, rear wash-wipe, rear defogger, etc and only lacks fog lamps. It has been driven for 1.1 Lakh kilometers and still is a pleasure to drive today. The engine is extremely refined for its day.

This episode brought back so many memories. My first car after i started working was the 2002 Santro 1.1L Zipdrive. This was a sea change from dad's Maruti van which was handed down to me. The Santro made long drives across the southern states really pleasurable and the peppy little engine was fun to drive in the hills. This car is still running like a charm after clocking over 1 lakh kms which makes it so difficult to let go. Very tempted to repaint and restore it back to factory condition.

We had a 2004 Black Santro Xing LE version with power steering and front power windows that my dad bought in 2004 new from Calicut KTC Hyundai - this was the longest kept car in our family - 14 years. Even the Amby we kept only 11-12 years and 2 M800s 4 years each. He was unwilling to sell it even in 2018 when renewal time was approaching so we exchanged it with a Grand i10 Asta diesel with Hyundai itself. That is also sold as of 2022 and now we have a Verna Petrol 2022 model - but the Santro stayed the longest and it was Jet black and associated with a lot of family memories. And at the time we exchanged it, it still looked new and had only 44000 km on the clock.. awesome car.. very peppy.. zero problems… ❤ Hyundai succeeded only because they took the Indian customer seriously. Maruti also did but they did a lot of quality shortchange to drop prices and bump up the fuel efficiency. Not Hyundai. India spec cars made for India, engineered for India with the Indian consumers taste in consideration. That’s why like you said Sirish, people don’t hesitate to buy a Creta, an Alcazar or a Palisade plonking 20 odd lacs because they are assured of the quality for big bucks.. And that is exactly why, though successful as a mass market carmaker Maruti cannot sell their premium models in large numbers.. though pitifully, cars like Ciaz are truly of good build quality. We got a second hand santro in 2009 learnt to drive on that car. We never went to any trips with it because of cost issues. But now i bought New Hyundai Verna 1.6D SX on Feb 2020. It was the last one that I could get from a dealership. Enjoyed santro and now enjoying Verna ♥️

I remember the first gen Santro was heavily promoted and had vertical grills with H logo. Kia is doing exactly following the books of history that Hyundai as left behind. Both hyundai and kia have stormed the indian market with some really cool cars which both the classes and masses have enjoyed equally. Both brands are tasting success. Sadly the i30 never made it to the indian shores. The i30 would create a new category of cars which will stand above the premium hatchback segment.

MY SANTRO(S) That’s my Santro….she was my 1st New Car way back in 1999. She’s been an integral part of the family ever since. She started her journey as TN22K0450 from Chennai, while I was posted at an Air Force Station down South…Yes I am an Indian Air Force Pilot. Over the years she has seen the Ups and Downs of our lives..seen one boy grow up to be a man and the other transported from hospital to home as a new born….still growing. This car never ceases to amaze all, friends are amazed to she her around and doing the rounds on a daily basis. This car has seen the length of India, from the Southern to the Northern tip. So time for my little story…a story I will cherish all my life a story I have told so many and a story I would love to re-live. After I returned from Africa having done a tenure with the United Nations I was posted to the Northern heights of the Mighty Himalayas at Air Force Station Leh. Having done so well on the roads in the plains I decided it was time for the Ultimate Test, this young lady was to accompany me to my new base and scale the treacherous roads at elevations above 11000 feet above Mean Sea Level… you see the roads were not good back then…and occasionally there were none. The Journey started from Hyderabad to Leh. She was given a full Service and a new music system at Chandigarh and then the two of us began this journey. Udhampur, Srinagar were a cake walk…the journey from Udhampur to Kargil was done in 14 hours straight, crossing the Zozila Pass and through the War Memorial at Dras reaching for a cool off at Kargil. The next day scaled the Fotu La pass also known as Jalehbi a description of the ever curving road and at Luch time it was Leh. During the tenure of Leh I was mostly in the forward Sectors close to the Siachen Glacier, this car did her daily chores for my family which I had taken alond…in my free time we scaled all the major passes in the vicinity including the Khardung La pass, the highest motorable pass in the world at 18340 feet as also the Chang La pass enroute the beautiful Pongong Tso lake. It was so exciting people screaming Tamil Nadu as she drove along in the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir. This Young Lady as I call her gave everything that was demanded of her through my Wonder Years in the Indian Air Force…kind of like a Soldier on Duty herself. On completion of 15 years She got a new name…AP29M9611 as also to ease her and give her a senior status she was joined by my 2nd Santro AP28BT2283. Through the years I flew so many different Aeroplanes and Helicopters…but the car remains the same, though she’s been making those little Ooohs and Ouch sounds just like yours truly. In a way she has been so HUMAN. Now I hung my Uniform and still I fly a mighty Jet but one thing that still remains is my good Old Santro… It wouldn’t be s urprise if this Old car once again hits the road up North to the mighty Himalayas to re-live the precious moments once again…the spirits of both of us are pretty high to rekindle those memories. Cheers to this wonder car……2018 Incidentally the original Tall boy 1999....lives on. Just gave the bumpers a body color, as couldn't get her a new set.
I have no idea why I watched this video, but I’m glad I did. We had a 2004 Santro Xing XP, and it had done just 10k km in 8 years and then I was finally given the car and long story short, the odometer was around 85k when we finally sold it in 2015. Loved the car, so many memories attached to it.

The 1998 Santro was the third car in my family. My sister and my 3 cousins were brought home for the first time in our Santro. As a kid I used to dream of driving our santro but my family sold it in 2014 due to registration issues, just a few months before I got my license. Still, I have many memories and emotions connected with the car.

Santro Xing is the best model, I am having 2007 model and even after 15 years I will like to continue further. From 2001 to 2007 I had the first model. Santro Xing is best for tall person like me also a good family car. The company should had redesigned the dash board with touch screen music system and kept the rest same with on road price upto 4-5 lakhs.
4-5 lakhs would not be possible in today's world. The Santro xing,when launched in 2003 was priced at around ₹350000,which is equivalent to ₹1200000 in 2023. So,you can see a venue as today's Santro.. 😅

Feb 2021. We traded in our 2004 Hyundai santro xing with 1.2L km for the new i20. I was born in 2001. The car had been with us for nearly 17 years. Gonna miss that little thing!
A 2002 ZipPlus was the first car that my parents bought. I was around 3 years old back then and I pretty much grew up with it. It's the car I learnt how to drive in. We sold it last year and it was a pretty emotional day for us all. P.S: we also had a mid-range model and got the bumpers painted silver.

My dad had 2001 model white santro and we used to go for a ride late night I’ve listened most of the albums and songs in that car only, it was CD era, my dad installed heavy subwoofer, Pioneer TS-2150 with a 4 channel Alpine amp in it in 2004, and the mirrors of our car was tinted with a imported colour film which was bought from US by our uncle, that was a memorable time for us 2004-2017 we sold it in 2017 cuz it was more than 15yrs and not legal to be driven in delhi we still miss our santro cuz it was like a family member to us overall……santro is not just a car it’s an emotion, it’s a family member!
Our family's first car was the Santro Zip Drive bought in around 2001. I still remember when I first set my eyes on it, I was most fascinated with the power window buttons at the front compared to the usual rolling windows back then. Then it had a wiper at the rear which also something to brag about. Few years down the line, when I was of eligible age, the car was still around for me to have my first driving lessons in with my dad. I didn't have much time with the car as an adult but I cherish every memory of it. We then sold it in 2009 and got the Accent which served us for another 8 years. Both Hyundai's were sold only because of rusting issue due to the hard water in my area used to wash the cars. Otherwise, mechanically they both were trouble free.
Still using a Santro. Using it since years. Completed 1 lac kms. Just a week earlier, did the re registeration as it completed 15 years. Re registered till 2027. Doesn't feel like a car. Feels like family.
My parents had a black Santro with the ‘millennium’ design as you refer to it. They bought it used though. I was very young when we had it. We sold it when I was two so I only remember it from photos(I think it was the top model). You said that the Santro was never a pretty car but I actually find the first generation cars(like the one we had)cute.

Now my grandpa has passed away,my uncle is very well established businessman in the US and my grandma has lost interest in these worldly things everybody thought of disposing the car off as it was well past its prime and papers are not in order but I intervened and prohibited everybody from selling it as it’s close to my heart, you can say Santro is granny of my Tucson and Aunt of my i20. And I wish to keep it for as long as I can. Thanks!

Our first car is a 2013 Santro which we still have. We have done 90k kms, been in two crashes one of which was major and all of us came out of it unscathed....it is part of the family now and his gonna stay in the family forever...

My family are the dealers for Hyundai in Pune and I still remember how excited we were when the first Santro came in to town. In fact it was under wraps in our workshop and Sirish came along with us to see it. It was love at first sight! ❤️ 😄 One of the USPs which made it sell like hot cakes besides the novelty value was the ease of ingress and egress, especially for older people with bad knees.
So much nostalgia watching the Gone but not forgotten series. My neighbour had a Santro and we had a Zen. Always admired the interiors and ease of ingress/egress it had.
We bought our Santro (XO) in 2006 and being our first car it was always going to be special. At the onset, we never intended to buy a Hyundai car... it had always been Maruti Suzuki in our heads but our neighbours and friends recommended (or rather compelled) us to buy the Hyundai Santro and we just complied for the heck of it. From the outset, we just loved it... it was a typical Hyundai show-off car- all 4 power windows, rear seatbelts, night mirror, rear wiper and defogger... all this in a budget car! What was Hyundai thinking?!
Over the years, we drove many other refined and more powerful cars but none could match the feel good factor of Santro. I especially love the fact that it can be used as an automatic in the 3rd gear for almost any speed in the city. Most cars need to be downshifted to 2nd or even 1st gear while tacking speedbreakers on the highway but with a little effort, Santro does the job even on the 4th gear. We need such cars in the present age.
15 odd years later, the same Santro is still a regular workhorse which is just like how it looked and felt on the day we bought it. Lately, we bought Creta Turbo (not as a replacement) and part of the reason we bought such a premium car was for the assurance that Hyundai is a brand that can be trusted... the trust that we got from our Santro.
The Santro was like the Creta of 2000s.. The same premium feel and feel good factor all in a budget like the Creta..
Very similar story to mine.2006 Santro XO in real earth colour, we replaced it with polo GT TSI 6 years ago but it was a good car, lots of features for that time.
The low end torque and pull without any lag of santro xing and zip plus upto 60 km from standstill can still put many modern cars to shame even now. Just don't want to sell my xing for that lovely engine. Great video Evo team.

I hold a 19 year old santro xing .the first of xing series .it's a very fun to drive car . I also own a 2018 Honda Jazz but the sporty feel that I get in Santro is incomparable to any car . Still gives me 16-17 kmpl(petrol) on highway. Santro has one of the best transmissions , feels like a rocket !
I still remember those days when santro used to be our family cars for a long time after the Alto. This was our second car and this was the first owner car which my father bought. I still remember those memories of the car. The car was very good and it barely had any problems. Today I drive BMW GT6 but still I remember those days of happiness.😊 Today I have almost everything in my life but except happiness so enjoy your days. Always enjoy with your work .❤❤

One of my families favourite stories to recall on dinners is how when I was 5 years old we were all out somewhere, I saw a santro parked across the road and I ran accross the street, hugged the cars bonnet and very sheepishly said "Santro, tu kab aayegi mere ghar". 25 years old now and I still keep tabs on latest Hyundai cars

nothing else except basic service,it broke down once only in 8 years and it wasnt even a complete break down,got some issues in gearbox on highway.went to a garage nearby and he adjusted somehow that i reach home and i reached home safely.I still miss my santro for the joy and memories she gave to me and my family,truly its a worthy GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN car.The days driving car without power steering after hitting biceps and shoulders in gym,it was a difficult task but as i said i just loved that car.i sold it and bought wagonr in 2020 which i didnt liked,sold it back.bought beat which was unreliable,sold it
currently owning figo 2nd gen tdci which is also a gem of its own time. Sadly ford went but i just want to keep this car as long as possible because no car can replace joy of driving a hatch with 1.5 tdci in same price

The previous gen Santros will probably remain as the only manuals which are actually fun to drive in traffic!! Amazing low end torque coupled with short gearing... Absolute breeze in city traffic. We still have 2003 model Santro Xing 18 yrs old and 2 Lakh+ KMs and it is still peppy and works like charm. I recently did whole Leh ladhak route on it 😁 and it showed how reliable it is where lots of SUVs break down on 17000-18000 feet...it was zipping throughout those curvy roads. I have other cars too but nothing is like Santro😊😊😊😊😊😊
Had a 2006 Santro Xing XO which was recently sold owing to the 15 years NGT rule in the Delhi NCR. A zippy compact hatch, it never ever broke down, not even once, during its entire 15 years spent with us. The only thing I didn't like was the placement of the front power window switches and a slightly bumpy rear suspension setup. Rest was great.

We got the OG Santro, a year after launch in 1999. Been in the family for close to 13 years and then upgraded to i20 in 2012. So much memories with this car.
We have a 2003 Xing XG and it is still a class. It has crossed 95000KM and still the engine sound seems like a new one. I have to admit that Hyundai came to India and gave a huge competition to Maruti Suzuki and proved that Hyundai Cars are much better. Love for Santro continues and hence it is still in the market. Thank you @evo India for making the series on Santro. I had requested for this in your previous video on Maruti 800 Series. Thank you so much. Love your gone but not forgotten series. Cheers.
We still have a 2003 Hyundai Santro Xing XG variant in black colour, bought from Trident Hyundai in Bangalore. It costed like 4.4 lakhs on road back in 2003,which was very high indeed back then. We still use it as our only car and hadn't upgraded (rather didn't need to upgrade) to a newer car. Still drives better than most of the newer cars and suvs from Hyundai stable itself.

I learnt to drive on the Santro. It was a navy blue Santro Xing top-end model with the washer wiper at the back and a defogger; all the "bells and whistles" at that point. The engine was peppy and spirited, the gearbox was easy to use. The high-speed ride was a tad bit bouncy but we did take it out for 200-300km stints every now and then. Had to let it go when it crossed the 85k mark on the odo. During its time in the family, the Hyundai had seen a lot and took a whole lot of beating but it never gave up on us. The car went on to solidify our trust in the Korean brand. Still, miss, wish I could have it for me now that I am in my 4th year. Great video as usual. Enjoyed the Zen nostalgia. Hoping to see some more in this series.

When I bought my Santro Xing GLS in 2010, driving it was really great fun, the power, pick up and driving comfort. The smooth and responsive power steering was the greatest charm with this car.
The low end punch in santro is amazing and you can drive heights easily in 3rd gear which most of hatchbacks now suffer even in 2nd gear. Clutch is bit hard as its older car but gear shift is smooth and acceleration is great . . .
You should see the roofline - even after 15 years its still feels great - they have used some plastic which is of top notch unlike the cloth material being used now in all cars . Please show Skoda this roofline - may be they learn . . . :)

Sirish bhai in my Family before switching on to Maruti Suzuki baleno 3 years ago, We were having Hyundai Santro twice one with older generation and another with santro xing GL Plus second generation model. Actually this car was everyone's choice if we look 10 years back for most of the family in India. I was also a proud owner of this legendary product as I miss a lot too.
Our family got the Santro Xing (Golden color) which I feel was a premium to us. Now our family owns a Hyundai Grand i10 Sportz AMT version. The best part of both the cars is the driving performance, ease of handling & best city driving cars. Hyundai Santro made a revolution on Indian roads by confusing customers go against the craze of Maruti & now it goes stronger even with the current i10, i20, Venue & Creta. Time for Hyundai to focus on safety & performance for Indian standards, price reduction would too help the buyers.

We had a santro from 2008, learned to drive it in 2016 when i turned 16 and we sold it in 2018 for a Bolero because we needed a bigger car and also a vehicle which could take us to our farm. Lots of memories with the santro, i dont think it ever broke down while we had it. The only major expense we had was changing the tyres and replacing a cracked windshield, the other was just routine service
I still love my 2002 santro I must say the ride handling comfort steering response etc of the Santro till date is not found in many Hyundai cars.

Without doubt one of the most reliable cars I’ve owned with service costs being less than ₹5000 even after 15 years. Engine is barely audible when it warms up and the 4 speed AT gearbox is still one of the smoothest shifting gearboxes as it gets up to speeds of 100+ kmph with ease. I plan to continue owning my Santro for as long as I can because the feel of driving the car (even though it is an AT) is still something very special to me

I'm 13 now and when I was a kid around 5 or 6 I had rides to it in school everyday, having fun in it by going on a road trip and I literally have no words for the car because it still works like a champ and has always been one of my favourite cars till date

I am still using 2006 Santro xing petrol and it's still performing awesome. Of course i have maintained it properly. Its been 17 years but it did not disappoint me . I am still doing rhousands of kilometers in it and fully satisfied.
my brother bought a second hand (2005) Santro zip drive in 2013, it was still good. I personally believe these kinds of cars really good for India roads. Economy and realiable.

My dad's 1st car was a 2006 Santro Xing eRLX XO Euro 3. We still have it. It has all the modern day goodies such as all 4 power windows, rear wash-wipe, rear defogger, etc and only lacks fog lamps. It has been driven for 1.1 Lakh kilometers and still is a pleasure to drive today. The engine is extremely refined for its day.

This episode brought back so many memories.
My first car after i started working was the 2002 Santro 1.1L Zipdrive. This was a sea change from dad's Maruti van which was handed down to me.
The Santro made long drives across the southern states really pleasurable and the peppy little engine was fun to drive in the hills. This car is still running like a charm after clocking over 1 lakh kms which makes it so difficult to let go.
Very tempted to repaint and restore it back to factory condition.

We had a 2004 Black Santro Xing LE version with power steering and front power windows that my dad bought in 2004 new from Calicut KTC Hyundai - this was the longest kept car in our family - 14 years. Even the Amby we kept only 11-12 years and 2 M800s 4 years each. He was unwilling to sell it even in 2018 when renewal time was approaching so we exchanged it with a Grand i10 Asta diesel with Hyundai itself. That is also sold as of 2022 and now we have a Verna Petrol 2022 model - but the Santro stayed the longest and it was Jet black and associated with a lot of family memories. And at the time we exchanged it, it still looked new and had only 44000 km on the clock.. awesome car.. very peppy.. zero problems… ❤
Hyundai succeeded only because they took the Indian customer seriously. Maruti also did but they did a lot of quality shortchange to drop prices and bump up the fuel efficiency. Not Hyundai. India spec cars made for India, engineered for India with the Indian consumers taste in consideration. That’s why like you said Sirish, people don’t hesitate to buy a Creta, an Alcazar or a Palisade plonking 20 odd lacs because they are assured of the quality for big bucks..
And that is exactly why, though successful as a mass market carmaker Maruti cannot sell their premium models in large numbers.. though pitifully, cars like Ciaz are truly of good build quality.

We got a second hand santro in 2009 learnt to drive on that car. We never went to any trips with it because of cost issues. But now i bought New Hyundai Verna 1.6D SX on Feb 2020. It was the last one that I could get from a dealership. Enjoyed santro and now enjoying Verna ♥️

I remember the first gen Santro was heavily promoted and had vertical grills with H logo. Kia is doing exactly following the books of history that Hyundai as left behind. Both hyundai and kia have stormed the indian market with some really cool cars which both the classes and masses have enjoyed equally. Both brands are tasting success. Sadly the i30 never made it to the indian shores. The i30 would create a new category of cars which will stand above the premium hatchback segment.

That’s my Santro….she was my 1st New Car way back in 1999. She’s been an integral part of the family ever since. She started her journey as TN22K0450 from Chennai, while I was posted at an Air Force Station down South…Yes I am an Indian Air Force Pilot. Over the years she has seen the Ups and Downs of our lives..seen one boy grow up to be a man and the other transported from hospital to home as a new born….still growing. This car never ceases to amaze all, friends are amazed to she her around and doing the rounds on a daily basis.
This car has seen the length of India, from the Southern to the Northern tip. So time for my little story…a story I will cherish all my life a story I have told so many and a story I would love to re-live.
After I returned from Africa having done a tenure with the United Nations I was posted to the Northern heights of the Mighty Himalayas at Air Force Station Leh. Having done so well on the roads in the plains I decided it was time for the Ultimate Test, this young lady was to accompany me to my new base and scale the treacherous roads at elevations above 11000 feet above Mean Sea Level… you see the roads were not good back then…and occasionally there were none.
The Journey started from Hyderabad to Leh. She was given a full Service and a new music system at Chandigarh and then the two of us began this journey. Udhampur, Srinagar were a cake walk…the journey from Udhampur to Kargil was done in 14 hours straight, crossing the Zozila Pass and through the War Memorial at Dras reaching for a cool off at Kargil. The next day scaled the Fotu La pass also known as Jalehbi a description of the ever curving road and at Luch time it was Leh.
During the tenure of Leh I was mostly in the forward Sectors close to the Siachen Glacier, this car did her daily chores for my family which I had taken alond…in my free time we scaled all the major passes in the vicinity including the Khardung La pass, the highest motorable pass in the world at 18340 feet as also the Chang La pass enroute the beautiful Pongong Tso lake. It was so exciting people screaming Tamil Nadu as she drove along in the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir.
This Young Lady as I call her gave everything that was demanded of her through my Wonder Years in the Indian Air Force…kind of like a Soldier on Duty herself.
On completion of 15 years She got a new name…AP29M9611 as also to ease her and give her a senior status she was joined by my 2nd Santro AP28BT2283. Through the years I flew so many different Aeroplanes and Helicopters…but the car remains the same, though she’s been making those little Ooohs and Ouch sounds just like yours truly. In a way she has been so HUMAN. Now I hung my Uniform and still I fly a mighty Jet but one thing that still remains is my good Old Santro…
It wouldn’t be s urprise if this Old car once again hits the road up North to the mighty Himalayas to re-live the precious moments once again…the spirits of both of us are pretty high to rekindle those memories. Cheers to this wonder car……2018

The 1998 Santro was the third car in my family. My sister and my 3 cousins were brought home for the first time in our Santro. As a kid I used to dream of driving our santro but my family sold it in 2014 due to registration issues, just a few months before I got my license. Still, I have many memories and emotions connected with the car.

The company should had redesigned the dash board with touch screen music system and kept the rest same with on road price upto 4-5 lakhs.
4-5 lakhs would not be possible in today's world. The Santro xing,when launched in 2003 was priced at around ₹350000,which is equivalent to ₹1200000 in 2023. So,you can see a venue as today's Santro.. 😅

Feb 2021. We traded in our 2004 Hyundai santro xing with 1.2L km for the new i20. I was born in 2001. The car had been with us for nearly 17 years. Gonna miss that little thing!
I am having santro zip drive euro 2 (2000). I bought it from the third owner. I replaced and repaired many parts. It's performance is superb!
SANTRO XING is all time killer .. i sold my santro xing 2010 and it was maintained like a baby .. it was very easy to drive and a tough CAR..❤️❤️❤️
A 2002 ZipPlus was the first car that my parents bought. I was around 3 years old back then and I pretty much grew up with it. It's the car I learnt how to drive in. We sold it last year and it was a pretty emotional day for us all.
P.S: we also had a mid-range model and got the bumpers painted silver.

My dad had 2001 model white santro and we used to go for a ride late night I’ve listened most of the albums and songs in that car only, it was CD era, my dad installed heavy subwoofer, Pioneer TS-2150 with a 4 channel Alpine amp in it in 2004, and the mirrors of our car was tinted with a imported colour film which was bought from US by our uncle, that was a memorable time for us 2004-2017 we sold it in 2017 cuz it was more than 15yrs and not legal to be driven in delhi we still miss our santro cuz it was like a family member to us overall……santro is not just a car it’s an emotion, it’s a family member!

Our family's first car was the Santro Zip Drive bought in around 2001. I still remember when I first set my eyes on it, I was most fascinated with the power window buttons at the front compared to the usual rolling windows back then. Then it had a wiper at the rear which also something to brag about. Few years down the line, when I was of eligible age, the car was still around for me to have my first driving lessons in with my dad. I didn't have much time with the car as an adult but I cherish every memory of it. We then sold it in 2009 and got the Accent which served us for another 8 years. Both Hyundai's were sold only because of rusting issue due to the hard water in my area used to wash the cars. Otherwise, mechanically they both were trouble free.

I had a 2005 Santro Xing, which was passed on by my dad to my brother to me. I still miss it 😭 as i have lots of memories with it.

Still using a Santro. Using it since years. Completed 1 lac kms. Just a week earlier, did the re registeration as it completed 15 years. Re registered till 2027. Doesn't feel like a car. Feels like family.
My parents had a black Santro with the ‘millennium’ design as you refer to it. They bought it used though. I was very young when we had it. We sold it when I was two so I only remember it from photos(I think it was the top model). You said that the Santro was never a pretty car but I actually find the first generation cars(like the one we had)cute.
Styling can be subjective 🤷♂️

Still have our 2004 Xing in pristine condition....still runs well....good mileage too.....
