This song reminds me of episode 9 when Nao calls out to her mother to come outside via telepathy. It was saddening to see Nao who'd fallen to darkness becoming a siren of sorts luring her mother to what proved to be her death motivated not through malice but through love of her mother and a desire to be with her again.....
Just finished the anime and I'm in tears. It was beautiful and tragic. I feel like the Shiki and humans were the hunters and the hunted. I felt bad for both sides but didn't think any one side was especially evil. The Shiki were attacking the humans to survive and the humans were retaliating to defend themselves, They may have gotten carried away, but they were scared and paranoid they'd be turned next. Not to mention that the they were taking revenge for the ones they already lost.
Oh my goodness, I thought I'd never find the Shiki soundtrack. Thank you so much. It is definitely one of my fave anime soundtracks (and my fave animes) and I thank you a million times over for posting these songs and links! May your hometown never be overrun by lonely vampires! (Unless they're cute, like Tohru).
In truth, I found that this anime was really great in that way. In a lot of Vampire flicks, the plot usually picks a side and stays with it. But with this series, it was different. You did very well in describing it, too. :)
@LelouViBrittania I just had to reply to this. The Shiki do not have to kill people to survive ( it is implied they can just go and bite different people, and the blood would restore itself in a short time if the victim is not drained constantly ). They wanted a place to live, yes, a heaven of sort, but they chose the wrong way to obtain it. While their intention in itself was not evil, the way that they tried to create it was. Death only begets death.
Damien ツ Yeah but we can't help it, it's Human nature to want to comfort a little girl that's crying. Besides, Sunako isn't regarded as evil by many fans of Shiki so naturally, they're going to feel bad for Sunako when she's crying.
+Fumxe's BVE Channel! So true episode 21-22 makes you feel as if humans are the Shiki, they kill anything that questions their existance. The Okiagari just wanted a home and they feed on blood just because of their hunger just like how humans kill pork.
When this song plays, it sounds like the song of the damned condemned to live a life in between life and death and unable to interact with the living without running the risk of sucking them dry of blood. I pity the Shiki for becoming twisted versions of what they once were in life.
This...fucking...anime. Once I started watching it, I couldn't stop until I finished it. That's how hooked I was. they sure know how to end an episode on a cliff hanger.
What's even more bone chilling is when several other Shiki of different shapes and sizes appear behind her a few moments later, even a little girl (not Shizuka) was a Shiki. It felt like a pack of predators clawing at the door wanting to get in and eat you. Good thing for Seishin Muroi that they were Sunako's minions since she liked Seishin and probably told him not to harm him if only because she wanted to be the one to turn him.
great story, great character and on of the best soundtrack, i saw soo many animes but never saw an anime like this one THANKS TO "Fuyumi Ono" and for the adaption of this "Daume"
An animal isn't motivated just by the desire to eat it is also can be aggressive and fearful and as humanity continues to prove fear is a great motivator for violence. To be honest I really never understood why Sunako who had been alive for so long would ever think her wild dream of having her own town of the damned would come true. Maybe It was a child's obstinate desire to not yield their dreams. I don't know. I was happy though that she survived and Seishin as well.
This Anime got me into a huge fight with a friend over the morality and philosophy of the anime. This anime is highly recommended because it pulls your thinking and judgment into all directions. lolz XD
I personally never hate the Shikis. Can't you imagine how lonely it is to be cornered by the world, out in the dark night? So I think it is just rational to get some companions, right?
Mark Beckmann I think the reason they didn't do that was because they were afraid he'd expose them and the Humans in the village would kill them just for being vampires. Humans tend to kill anything that they don't understand and fear is how Sunako perceived most humans as being.......
ryan macdonald they didn't go to the doctor because they wanted to kill, enjoyed killing. They killed people like it was their right to take lives, even little children. The humans killed them to protect themselves, if they hadn't they would have ALL been killed. Who wouldn't want to kill those vampires after what they did? If the vampires had a 'right' to survive, then didn't the humans have the same right?
sharonoxo Of course Humans have the same right to live, I was merely explaining why Sunako and her small handful of followers probably didn't go to the doctor at the start. I never said that the vampires deserved to live more then the Humans. Also, they were killing the villagers in the hopes that they would arise as vampires too in order to create that "safe haven" for their kind. They shouldn't have done that of course since most of their victims wouldn't have wanted to become vampires but Sunako and her band weren't killing "just for the hell of it" like you said (though Tatsumi probably was).
Mark Beckmann maybe you missed it. Sunako answered the question as to why they wouldn't co-exist "do you ever eat only part of a meal". Tells me all I needed to know. Humans = prey/food. Don't give anyone a choice and kill when you don't have to. Too bad there's not a second season where we can see Sunako and Monkman get theirs.
Mark Beckmann Ugh, I never expect such debate would arise from my comment, but let me state my point of view. First I want to clarify that by writing the above comment I have no intention to imply that the Shikis have more rights to live than humans, I just showed my sympathy for them, and to be honest, Sunako is my favorite character and I LOVE her (yes please don't question my sanity >.
Becoming shiki was never a curse, they were not forsaken. God did not forget about them, he gave them a chance to be truly free. Just as Sunako said, death is terrible because all their memories are lost. But if you don't die, nothing is lost. Everything you do is not in vain.
@Dauble D Anime, I was wondering if the other shiki (nao and others) died as well. Turns out theres 2 extra episodes (OVA), 20.5 and 21.5. You could watch them online.
Amazing soundtrack. Loved it during the anime, so brilliant. Any suggestions for what I should watch if I liked Shiki, in terms of the psychological sadness going on. I watched it from start to end in one go, and it was great. Anything else I should give a go like that? That is really deep, but not Bleach long, more Code Geass
I want there to be a second season as much as any person, but after thinking about it... it would ruin the show a bit. The first season ended on such a blunt, dark note. But that's life. Life ends on a blunt, dark note. So in a way the ending is ominous and thought-provoking. I really want a second season for the sake of there being more content, but I know that no matter how good it would be, it would never give me the emotional shock the first season gave me. So it would be a disappointment anyway, in addition to an unnecessary continuation from the first season's brutal end.
Shiki is one of the best OSTs ever. I just wish they would have released all of the music at once on one OST instead of only a few tracks on the mini albums..
Not all of them took pleasure in the act of killing, many couldn't kill their risen loved ones and some of them even killed as an act of mercy so they would not suffer. Shiki were the same, some of them enjoyed their advantageous state, some of them couldn't bear it. What actually makes this anime a memorable one is that it opens that moral wound and forces the viewer to look at it, and even though the viewer is bound to be on the side of humans at the start, it manages to make you feel bad.
=.= I tried reading Shiki with Shiki OST but before that I've use it to read Shingeki no Kyojin, so now every time I hear this or Eau de Vie 13th Floor (and etc.) I cant help myself thinking about SnK and Titans and so on
In the end...I really sided with no one. What the vampires did was foolish and wrong, but the humans became even greater monsters in the end. It reflected upon the darkness of humanity, and the cruelty and selfishness in all of us. As well as the dark side of love, and how far one will go to get revenge for their lost ones while going even farther to protect the ones they still have. All in all, there was no real winner, just a tragic demise on both parts.
I believe the one you are looking for is,"Eau de Vie" Here is the RUclips video for the song. /watch?v=tsJE8ENhmhk I hope that helped your search, unless you found it already.
It had to be brutal because they couldn't die easilly, but many of them got carried away A LOT indeed :P. So in the end they seem no different from the Shiki...Shiki were just their relatives to begin with anyway.
poor sunako :'( ....i feel really bad for the shiki....all they wanted was a place to call their own....though their means of survival werent the best....
I don't think that they were really looking at it in the long run, I think that really Sunako just wanted to have a place that she could call home with those that would accept her, and with a small town would that not be the ideal place to turn into a town for those of the night?
The problem are 1) logisti in long run 2) Like 1, people start disappear in the closer city, if one start make too questions can start a "truth hunt" 3) with time more people can be suspicious 4)with tech improvements for hiding be ever harder
Still my favorite anime of all time. It's got some of the best osts ever.
Yasuharu Takanashi is a god when it comes to writing music for anime
I think Nao's story is probably the saddest of all of them... She lost everything... All because she didn't want to be alone.
I just hope that she's with her family once more. If I were God, I'd let her be with her family in Heaven.
Ginger Chick the saddest one wast the story of Megumi. she wanted so much to leave this place and in the end she die there
Just finished the anime and I'm in tears. It was beautiful and tragic. I feel like the Shiki and humans were the hunters and the hunted. Or for me Like megumi :D
Man, it's been almost four years now.
Shame we've never got a continuation.
It's probably because there wasn't enough material for another season. But I'm not too sure on that.
***** Nah this anime is a master piece :P i'd rather remember it as a good anime :]
***** The original Novel was made back in 1998.3
zNoteck He's talking about anime
Da Cerebrus I know, but I'm just saying because the story was done in 1998.
I love this song, the soft voice and the violin
I love you for putting this up :D Why did it take me so long to find it waah!!
for some reason shiki's soundtrack has the ability to make shivers run down my spine. thats what u call pure awesomeness
In truth, I found that this anime was really great in that way. In a lot of Vampire flicks, the plot usually picks a side and stays with it. But with this series, it was different. You did very well in describing it, too. :)
AWESOME
Einfach einer der besten Animes die ich je gesehen habe und die Soundtracks sind auch hammer geil
shiki's soundtracks are really really good they go perfectly with the story

aweosome...have been waiting for this
I just can't describe the feeling I get when I listen to these ost's.. it's insane, and special. in a unique and awesome way. :)
2018 anyone still here?
My first anime I ever watch. I remember staying up all night in my balcony and watching is on my computer. Good memories
had this in my head all day
best anime ever :) he is not known but still the best , never saw an anime like that before !
Piece of art. Anime and soundtracks.
At first when the Okiagari attack you start to hate them. Then in episode 21-22 you start to feel sympathy for them, watching them die in groups....
The moment a little vampire girl starts crying, everyone loses their shit -_-
Damien ツ Yeah but we can't help it, it's Human nature to want to comfort a little girl that's crying. Besides, Sunako isn't regarded as evil by many fans of Shiki so naturally, they're going to feel bad for Sunako when she's crying.

yes
your voice is like a witches spell. you have me in a trance that cannot broken. i truly envy your voice.
All about Shiki: characters, line of history, osts, are great and that end was so sad but that was how that had to end.
この世界観が好き💕
I imagine Tohru crying... This make me cry of hapiness
This anime and the soundtrack is so powerfull. Every time when I heart it I want to cry.
When this song plays, it sounds like the song of the damned condemned to live a life in between life and death and unable to interact with the living without running the risk of sucking them dry of blood. I pity the Shiki for becoming twisted versions of what they once were in life.
I am always crying when I am listening this.
It says it in the title of the video. "Shiki "Rouge" Soundtrack: Track 1 - Day and Night" The anime's name is Shiki. ^-^
I love it that you say when this musik plays :D No one else does that.
This is one creepy soundtrack. Fits the series perfectly. Great soundtrack
WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!!?? YOU'RE CHANGING TOPIC!!
just finished it today and it was well...awesome
This song is beautiful
Thank You so much :)
This...fucking...anime. Once I started watching it, I couldn't stop until I finished it. That's how hooked I was. they sure know how to end an episode on a cliff hanger.
The feeling ... Dam !
the bgm of this anime is just amazing !!!
1:40 reminds me of when megumi shows up in the moonlight at the clinic where morui(idk how to spell it) sees her for the first time. So bone chilling
What's even more bone chilling is when several other Shiki of different shapes and sizes appear behind her a few moments later, even a little girl (not Shizuka) was a Shiki. It felt like a pack of predators clawing at the door wanting to get in and eat you.

It truly is.

And I couldn't have said it better myself. Applause to you, good sir/ma'am.
I looooooove this anime and the musics of it.
Love love love this:D
piękna piosenka , strasznie melancholijna .

@jodi106 a viola (like a violin only the neck is longer for a slightly deeper sound)
Magnificent..
@LimeYellowed
ur so right dude! it remainds me of jigoku shoujo 2 ;p both the animes are fking good especialy jigoku shoujo i rly want 4 season!
poor megumi......

Kinda of mysterious and cool
Shiki is one of the best OSTs ever. I just wish they would have released all of the music at once on one OST instead of only a few tracks on the mini albums..
Akira Tanaka reminds me of Tsuna from reborn :D
This anime was so addicting I finished it in 3 days!
Fear yet sadness...
Not all of them took pleasure in the act of killing, many couldn't kill their risen loved ones and some of them even killed as an act of mercy so they would not suffer. bueatiful :') simply bueatiful..u understood it so perfectly! ^.^
Can anyone tell me the song in episode 5 where its Tohrus funeral, there is a song playing throughout, where he asks to see his face?
=.= I tried reading Shiki with Shiki OST but before that I've use it to read Shingeki no Kyojin, so now every time I hear this or Eau de Vie 13th Floor (and etc.) I cant help myself thinking about SnK and Titans and so on
Takanashi Yasuharu sure is impressive. I was already impressed enough by the Jigoku Shoujo soundtrack.
Whats the name of the song from episode two that plays towards the end when Natsuno is in his room? Had me groovin, yo. xD
Yay! So sad that the series ended. =(
the best soundtrack of all shiki's ! bawww. why did my otp have to die!
YAY finaly!!!
People drop this too soon, one to really give a chance, most incredible story build up ^_^ x

This kind of song would be so fitting for a funeral
I believe the one you are looking for is,"Eau de Vie"
Here is the RUclips video for the song.
/watch?v=tsJE8ENhmhk
I hope that helped your search, unless you found it already.
crying me
Such a sad song, at least to me. Makes me think of Tohru.
It sounds like Samantha's Lullaby from Call of Duty Black Ops Zombies, but still amazing.
It had to be brutal because they couldn't die easilly, but many of them got carried away A LOT indeed :P. So in the end they seem no different from the Shiki...Shiki were just their relatives to begin with anyway.
OMFG Gasai Yuno as a Shiki? No way in hell, otherwise the humanity is doomed. O_o
(I love this song so much! Beautiful.)
Oh.. damn... DAUMM nice ost
Wunderschöne musik wundervul
Super anime , polecam wszystkim. Soundtracki są 1 klasa
@Aqraiel yeah but the part where the stupid senhi killed that old man
damn i really that old man soooo badass
poor sunako :'( ....i feel really bad for the shiki....all they wanted was a place to call their own....though their means of survival werent the best....
great ST thx for uploading it
any one know when the full ost will come out??
Like It .. Much
i love that string instrument that starts playing between 1:25 i wonder what it is called. does anyone know?
@MistressItami really? i never thought i could hear a violin play so sadly.
when i im listening this song i hear Sunako or Dr Ozaki's voice
EXACTLY why its fking good cuz u never ever see animes like it its Unique!
Track 1. :)
Although you beating up that one really tall freaky guy made me cheer for you.
@ThanySin Not me but it can be easy to dislike this unless you like sad songs.
I don't think that they were really looking at it in the long run, I think that really Sunako just wanted to have a place that she could call home with those that would accept her, and with a small town would that not be the ideal place to turn into a town for those of the night?
The problem are
1) logisti in long run

4)with tech improvements for hiding be ever harder
FOUND IT! took me a bit. Takanashi Yasuharu...iv swere iv herd this style before can any one give me a list of OST he has composed besides Shiki's
