Y62, Y61 and the older Y60 Patrols are honestly so amazing.
Same with the 70, 80, 100 and 200 Series Land cruiser.
The ladder rail chassis the tuff drive train ,solid axles, coil suspension makes it one of the best 4wds for touring 🇦🇺

brings back memories had a 92 super safari (the boxy ones) that thing was a banger and took abuse like a champ.
My dad had one of them as well but it was a diesel and a manual. Absolutely love that car!

What is VTC?
VTC 4800 is literally a tank, It can be used on wars.
Along with LC j70,
Both vehicles are classic, with minimum technology and strongly built body, ladder chasis, solid axles and coil suspension.
Until these days Toyota and Nissan are making these vehicles.
I hope they continue making the same without adding shit electronics or fancy technology.
Kudos to Nissan and Toyota.
I love old school all mechanical 4x4 you dont worry a lot if you are on the worst driving conditions, that's what theyre meant for!

Once upon a time, an off-roader was designed to cope with mud, rocks, marshes and hills. The Patrol Safari, on the other hand, has been exquisitely calibrated to go up a 35% sand dune on just the right side of bursting into flames. Which will make all the difference in rush hour.

The TB48 is not a v6, it's an inline 6. It's a bored, stroked out TB45-TB42-TD42 block modified to take OHC and VVT. Fun fact, the original TB42 petrol block was designed for diesel compression, and was used in large forklifts as well as the patrol

You guys are so lucky.. in Australia they stopped giving us the y61 in 2016 and we never even got the shorty is the y61 only the y60 :(
swb gq chassis and cut a gu wagon cab down haha, not sure how youd go with rego but would be good for comp truck etc
It's still available in Right Hand Drive here in Africa with the shorty and the diesel.

yes i love my patrol gu wagon and i wish they were still bringing the y61 to Australia but their only getting the y62 my old 4.500 petrol has 380000 kays and still going strong i had spoken to another patrol owner and his had 1million 300 thousand and was still looking good and still going strong but it was an auto and after that many kays the trans was just starting to slip abit

Love your review off this legend of an off roader, the last hero from a time when driven a car really meant Driving a car and off road cars was solid,relabel and tuff you can almost say it’s the chuck Norris of off road vehicles
Overall off/on road performance wise, would you recommend the Super Safari or the newer V6 base Nissan patrol considering they're about the same price
The Super Safari is so much better off road it's really no comparison. If it was me that's what I would get. It will serve you and your family for years

Much like FJ. Less or no tech gadgets keeps them going the distance !! FJ is a couple of thousand BDs cheaper though.

I think they could be very similar in off road capabilities but the Y61 is probably more reliable

you know why arabs love those things? Because it's easy to modify they can use it in drag racing or hill climb a sand dune that is almost vertical.

this is my dream car, unfortunately i live in Australia and it is unbelievably difficult and expensive to get one here. if anyone knows anything about importing and getting it registered that would be awesome

In our market only we have 4.8 benzin engine no diesel anymore last time the price was 186000sar for 2022 and it's not super safari( converted it to your currency)
And this is too expensive.
Last year 2021 it was 160000sar so in one year is 20k+ higher than last year

unfortunately it doesn't exist. I asked the same question and tried to find it. But the 3.0l diesel would use a 4-speed automatic.

That's the 5 door one
You can find 2018 or 2019 brand new 10000$ cheaper.. Leather seats are for the wagon (long chassis)

Pajero is a City wagon plus a great offroader.
Y61 is created only for Offroad,
We can rarely see Y61 on road, most of them are used in deserts and that too without modification, factory built.
