Love this throwback joint! Reality, Class band and Ayre Rayde used to crank on Saturday nights at Cheryis GOGO...Thanks for posting Bro! OLDMAN of NE...
I’ve been saying the same damn thing for years! I REFUSE to listen to today’s GoGo if you want to call it that. It’s GoGo by genre and that’s it. But today’s GoGo have a crossover audience, they like “bounce” and “beat ya feet” or whatever 🙄 They’re all playing the same monotone cover music. I don’t wanna hear shit from the radio slowed down with a third beat (congo) added. They have NO creativity whatsoever. Every band from the 80’s had their own sound and cuts. You didn’t have to ask who they were. You knew “Big Back Yard” and “Sometimes you feel like a Nut” was Reality, “Sock it to me” was AR, and Class’s version of “Inspector Gadget” was better than the damn TV version, on top of their other jams. I used those 3 bands as an example because their my favs from that era but of course RE (Benny era) are classics as well as EU, Petworth..etc. I’m not purposely leaving other bands out from the ones I named because we had a lot and had our favs. When I play 80’s GoGo people will ask who’s that? I tell them this is from 40 years ago. They mainly 😮 in disbelief. Then I have to explain that how they dislike today’s “rap” music compared to the classic era (mainly from the 80’s), I tell them it’s the same with GoGo for a lot of us. Sorry this was long, but this is nostalgic. I just remember hanging out at Sam’s Car Wash before going to Crystal to see 3-4 bands, then going to Capital Carryout afterwards and seeing all the girls in the light that you saw inside….😂 Good times!

King Malakh: it’s me Beedy Top from the gangster Chronicles, I definitely remember these days.
I'm sure I was there, didn't miss to many GoGo's at Cheriy's in '84
