Trump gained more votes in 2020 than he had in 2016, and he'll probably get more votes in 2024.
The idea that Trump's popularity waned was always disingenuous.
As I'm fond of pointing out since crunching the numbers myself, Trump was the first president in American history to gain support and still "lose." It's a statistical abberation so unique that a legit loss is less likely than every single state election being above board during a _global pandemic._
Funnily enough, Democrats _regularly_ lose popular votes when in the presidential incumbency. Obama and Clinton both did worse the second go around, and Carter screwed up so bad he lost the whole presidency. This also makes Trump the only president in half a decade (if not _much_ longer) to get more votes the second time while being a democrat. Last one who could even _potentially_ claim that was Kennedy.
It was real convenient for biden that they counted mail in ballots multiple times

Turnout was down 41% from 2016, some of that can be attributed to the weather for sure, but he didn't do well in the urban (if you can call anywhere in Iowa urban) areas. He really struggled in suburbia again (Polk County, Dallas County, and Johnson County in particular).
This model may work in a place like Iowa, but it won't in Georgia, North Carolina, or Pennsylvania. There's not enough critical mass of voters in the rural areas in States like those.
This trend pierces Red States quite consistently, too.
If Trump is going to surge this hard in just the primaries then how pathetic and blatant will the efforts be by the time we hit October going into November?

Not only does Vivek make the right call about 98% of the time, he also makes it first, often in real time. So impressed with him. His campaign has been a benefit to the entire nation, not just Republicans.
He and Trump kissed and made up. VR joined him at his New Hampshire rally and gave a great speech.
He's indeed impressive, and I think his most important time is to come. How he reacts after this point is what will inform the rest of us about his earnestness/integrity for the next go around. He's impressive, but he's also so novel that you can hardly blame us jaded & betrayed Republican voters for being suspicious of such a brightly shining new arrival. For all his faults, Trump has been consistently promoting himself for what, 40-50 years at this point? Logical or not, that' carries a quality all its own for folks seeking to support a known quality. Vivek simply isn't old enough to compete with that (or Desantis btw)...and frankly, jaded voter opinion here, the guy's background is simply to drenched in leftist elitism for me to trust his words alone. Trump on the other hand, doesn't really have any options left /but/ open warfare against the left if he gets in; he either fights back with everything, or he dies. Seeing as many of us Trump supporters won't have much fondness for the man if he /doesn't/ fight the left...that's what we call a no-lose proposition.

Its a mystery to me why her speech writers wouldn't amend her post-caucus speech.

She probably assumed her slight lead would hold until the end.
It's a two person race because DeSantis has lost about 30% points in his polling while she's up like 18% from a few months ago. He's lost and they all know it. She's polling way higher than him in NH, and he should honestly drop out now.

Vivek pissed away any shot at a political future by doing that. Unless he made a negotiation with Trump (similar to how Biden bought out the dem field in 2020), he's stepping into irrelevancy, not unlike how Bernie did the same by bending the knee to hillary in 2016. At least in the case of Bernie, he quit after it was abundantly clear the dems would ruin him if he continued. Vivek's campaign was built on the belief that the establishment would not let trump win, and that "we won't be surprised when it happens, we'll be kicking ourselves for not stopping it." Either he lied when he said that, and he's not actually concerned that they won't let Trump be the nominee, or he's doing exactly what he said we'd be kicking ourselves for. It's much better for the country if the former is true instead of the latter.

Iowa was under zero degrees for the better part of the last two weeks. Also, many of the roads are not clear and it is dangerous for older folks to go out in weather like this.
Turnout was down 41% from 2016. Weather did play a factor for sure.

Who am I kidding? 2016 was rigged, but they didn't count on people actually hating Hildawg so much they pulled the trigger on the God Emperor at the last minute. So 2020 was rigged even harder, which they told us they would do. 2024? There's no telling the depraved shenanigans they'll pull to keep him out, but I'm fairly certain they will.
All I know for sure, though, is that I'm 100% in favor of four more years of Trump talking crazy shit to the media from the highest office in the land.
