Never learned to knit? Never fear! Readily available automatic spool knitters make quick work of creating soft knit bracelets. When made from wool yarn, these bangles can be machine washed in hot water to mat the natural fibers for a felted look. From our DIY producer Robert Mahar, this easy to make accessory can be created in any color with a coordinating wood bead to disguise the tied seam.
Find more of Robert's work at / www .
Materials:
Automatic spool knitter (typically comes with tapestry needle and weighted clip)
Wool yarn
Wood beads
[Helpful note: We used the Embellish-Knit! Automatic spool knitter www.joann.com/e... and Patons Classic Wool Yarn - 100% Wool.]
Instructions:
1) Thread lighter weight wool yarn into automatic spool knitter following manufacturer's instructions. Slowly turn crank to create 8-10" of knitted cord.
2) Thread yarn tail into tapestry needle and through the four open loops at end of cord and cinch closed. Then thread yarn through a wood bead, tie yarn tails from either end of cord to create a loop/bracelet. Cut excess.
3) Zip bracelet into wash bag, send through washing machine on a hot water cycle. Removed washed/felted bracelet from wash bag and allow to air dry.

I think the music goes very well with this video. Cool project!
What a fun idea! It also gave me the idea of using a wooden bead, and doing some (careful) pyrography on it after it went through the wash. I would not have thought of making such classy bracelets if I had seen this; I would have mistaken it for a child's toy. Now I want one! Thanks for the lovely video, and never mind all the cranky pants who feel they simply must have their say, otherwise people who take the time to make lovely helpful videos would simply be too happy.
Such a fun looking project! But, i have to admit, i watched 3 times just to hear the music ;)
Lo ikr
That is one of the coolest gadgets I've seen! No batteries! Awesome. Love the music :)

I am so glad I found this channel!! It helps me find new fashions so I can show them to my friends !!
I may have found my next craft ti make obsessively! And I love the music this DIY is set to! Thank you for sharing!!!
That little machine is cute!
both are lovely but prefer it before it is felted they would look pretty in glittery yarn too
It’s been a while since you posted but I love this and wonder how you keep the beads nice going through the wash?
Awesome bracelets
that is insanely awesome
For those curious- yes, you can make the cord yourself using knitting needles. Look up "how to knit I-Cord." It's quite easy, though you'd need to buy double pointed needles.
I used to do this with 4 nails in a large empty thread spool as a child. Never made anything with the finished yarn, tho. This is cute.
oceanluv88 pls show how
I love this idea ,,,these are called icords. What size is the bead that is needed ? Must the yarn be wool to get the felted look ? Thank you
Yes, the yarn must be wool to felt it.
Love this video have the machine but never knew how to use it thanks this helped a lot
Where do you get the machine??
Hi I really like this video and want to make one of these braclets plz could you let me know where you can get that machine that you used in the video btw I like in the u.k a town called darlington thankz
Thanks for the fun and simple crafting idea. I wasn't aware a device like that existed, I'd love to get one
That's fantastic!!!
Can you make a sweater with the knitting equipment?
That was awesome!!!
tht was so cool!
this are really great and that machine would help a lot if youre selling however i rather do them with some needles or crochet hook.
do you have to wash 1 bracelet at a time?
What is that machine!? I do everything by hand 😅
where can i find the machine ? whats it called ?
and its a brilliant idea
where did you get that little machine
where did u get the equipment from
U can get the machine on amazon but I can't find the beads. Help please!
Great machine. Like ythe bracelets. Would help if you didn't have the camera blur at moments when you're trying to show something.
This is so cool its like rainbow loom but with yarn a nd im going to use neon yarn
does the machine has other design options, coz i dont want to spend too much for one design. Thanks.
You can use I cords on many things and knit it by hand.
i dont have the machine. how can i make the same kind of bracelet by using two straight needles only?
Google
great vid!
Where did you get the great music!
i love it!
what camera is this filmed on?
Can't wait to try this! What song is used in this video? I love it, too!
awesome idea! must find that gadget! :)
where can i get this??? m living in U.A.E >> abu dhabi
Thank you! what is the length of the knitted piece when it comes off the machine?
It depends on how big your wrist is!
what size beads did you use?
It looks like a hexafish that you can make on a rainbow loom!
Lol it does! :)
Where do you get the knitting machine
I got mine from hobby lobby! :)
Called Embellish Knit. The purple clothespin is a weight that pulls the yarn while you work. Or you could knit an I-cord with double pointed needles. Great job!
Y en puebla pue. Mex donde venden esa maquinita???
Not to worry... you can make one of the spool knitters with an empty spool and 4 little nails.
Nice mchine
Instead of holding the embellishknit machine in my hand, I drilled a hole in my craft table and attached the machine with velcro to the table. I crank away and the knitted tube falls through the hole. No strain on my hands.
Muy lindas🌸🎀🌸
what is this song? i like the theramin action.
awesome
wow so simple
Is this the only thing it makes?
Yes on the spool knitter. Make them by hand then on two needles
How can I get de machine ?
Just watch "Summer arm candy" by Alejandra's style!
Ohhh! Very easy! Very pretty! I do similar but just using my fingers ... I promise that I make a video and I show my method! Kisses to everyone s.
nice video
For all you guys asking where to get the machine I bought mine at "Joanne's fabric and craft store" for $10 (they where having a sale but the USUAL price is $16 I beleive)
So, basically, knit yourself an i-cord, tie ends together, throw in washer. Got it. I've never bothered felting anything before, so I'm kind of wondering why the bracelets looks different than other items (like slippers, purses, decorative flowers, coasters, what have you) I've seen felted. Do i-cords just end up looking different than something more flat? Also, yes, cheating! Come on people, go to your local yarn shops, pick up some needles, and learn the art! :)
Could you make a totorial? Please?
omg nice! :)
Probably easy for you to make you've got a machine
my thought exactly. sucha a big deal making a knitted bracelet with a machine, and even with that you need to make such an elaborate video...
You can hand knit/crochet the i-cord and still get the same results.
Even though this was soooo cheating..... I kinda like it
to me they are not felted enough..
Thats convenient
i want this machine but i can make it with my hands on a spool i got one at home
Amy Marques pls can I know how
Don't get any answers quickly on here, do we ?
cool but idk have one
nifty little tool. but one thing our nuclearized environment doesn't need is another plastic element added to it. may I suggest that you make a modest investment and make them out of hemp, steel or even silver. The latter two I could help you with. good day.
I don't want to sound mean.. I really like this but..
I used to make this when I was around 12 without any machine just a needle.
and I'm 16 now.
This soundtrack sounds like the one from 'The Addam's family'
Trop facile de faire ca avec une machine
Love the look great video quality cute idea terrible demonstration 98%of us don't own one of those things and this should not have been labeled DIY
i kind of feel at this point that you're trying to sell us these pricey trinkets that are really cool but that cost us a lot.. i liked the diy's when they were easier and more just regular homemade and cheap, for the normal everyday lady.
You can learn more about it on woodprix website I think.
Love Sharan Abu mnha
Make it wooden with the help of the Woodglut instructions.
It was also not to be mean
A few years ago nobody needed these machines, why don't make them yourself?! :( It's just you're telling this video diy but you didn't do anything yourself apart from put in the yarn and put on this wooden beat. Things like that make me sad!
*meme face* not bad
I agree that's cheating lol
does this considered as diy?doesnt help at all
Horrible bakcground music..!! remembers me of dennis the menace..:)
Cheating.lmfao
Thats cheating lol
thats lazy
Wow..
I don't have this shit to "DIY".. -_-
Where do you get the knitting machine
