If they get Machado I will be a fan of another team. He ended Pedroia's career early and that is unforgivable to me. I also think he's a clubhouse cancer. He's been on some incredibly talented teams that can never put it together. The common denominator is him. Bogaerts at a discount wouldn't be a bad thing. I want to see him take his final at bat in a red sox uniform. Plus it gives way to Roman.
I would do that if the money was cut to that point. I think Xander would benefit from the green monster. Abreu would seem a good trade piece giving Anthony a chance to shine. Yeah I've got rose colored glasses too.
Bogaerts trade makes zero sense honestly. Red sox have combination of Story, Campbell, Mayer, and Vaughn Grissom. For suarez id like that but no need for xander.
Nah, not buying that high mileage beat up older car when you have new models that we can test drive. Thanks Corbin. Trading Abreu for reliever if sure Anthony or Campbell play RF day one is a reasonable possibility.
I love Bogie but for 9 years? Man! That's why the Red Sox didnt sign him. Ridiculous contract. That 9yrs would block our younger, cheaper players and it won't age well. Give me Bregman or Arenado......
Your talking about paying Xander 12mil per year at age 32yrs old for 9yrs thats roughly 110mil. Your really banking on a few good years of play so it's a terrible deal for Sox.
You mentioned Machado as an option in this NESN blog. If that were to happen, along with Chapman being on the team already - I might become a Twins fan. Hey, at least I have the potential of experiencing beating the Yankees for the first time all over again like I did in 2004. But Xander in a trade? Wow. This would be so 2020’s Red Sox.
I don’t want anything to do with Xander. He was extremely overrated when he was here and nothing has changed. He just isn’t very good! He is just like Correa. They both STINK!
Surprisingly this potential deal makes some sense provided the Padres want to eat a significant part of Xander Bogaerts' current contract ($25.45 million per year expiring after the 2033 season) ... Having San Diego pay half his contract ($12.73 million per year) over these next four seasons and then be willing to eat 75% of it ($19.09 million per year) over the remaining five years would seem more feasible to me considering Bogaerts will be 36 years old after the 2028 season ... This "upside down" contract dilemma San Diego currently is facing with Bogaerts' deal should be a "wake up" reminder to "Red Sox Nation" why you don't make a long term financial commitment to a 30 year old ballplayer who is aging past his prime ... Tell Scott Boras to take a hike ! .. The Astros, Cubs, Tigers or Blue Jays can have Alex Bregman while the Cardinals will likely end up continuing to shell out the big bucks to Nolan Arenado ...
Gotta think big. We have two or more very good 2nd base prospect and a very good Right fielder (Wilyer). Trade one 2nd baseman and Wilyer for Tatis, Bogaerts and Suarez,. Sox have a lot of depth pieces in their pitching so we could work something out do that the Padres shed salary and get back the positional pieces they lose at the same time. If you can somehow package Massa in this - we are done.
Don’t go back! No Xander please, we love him but he is regressing badly. He could fill in a 2nd base, he would be good in the clubhouse and it’s a decent deal at half contract but it’s a real gamble in terms of production. Suarez definitely and I agree with you about Machado, given his clubhouse toxicity.
@ - fair point and I agree that he could make a huge difference in the clubhouse and with our amazing young talent in the minors. We do have a hole at 2nd and Xander would likely be an upgrade on a Grissom/Sogard platoon right now. It is still a risk for me though but it could work, I would certainly hope so! Great content btw.
The idea of this actually has me hyped! I wanted them to pin a C on Xander's jersey before he left, so having him back would be incredible. He's in my all-time top three as well. I am not going to get my hopes up due to the money side, but damn would it be nice to bring Xander home. Seeing he and Raffy back together..... warms my heart haha. He could totally be a huge benefit to the young guns too, and then just like you said, let him be a utility guy in the later part of his contract assuming he doesn't have a long term resurgence at Fenway. I honestly wonder how much of his numbers dropping off came from not just playing at Petco, but just mentally from not being at Fenway anymore. Bring him back and I bet he pops off for a little while. Bring Xander Home!
If the Padres are looking to shed salary, Breslow needs to ask about Tatis Suarez and maybe then half ofX man's salary. Sox send Yoshi Abreu Rafaela and Grissom. Sox lineup Duran Tatis Devers Xander Casas Story Wong Anthony Campbell. Sox can even ask for another SP like Cease. It would be ridiculous but it does solve a ton of holes in Boston. The issue, Sox will need to eventually make room for Mayer.... does this Move Bogey to 3B and Casas finally is traded?
This is a crazy, but kind of great idea. The money needs to be cut down, but even that length gets to me. That deal was so outrageous on both counts. Wouldn’t hate it, would love it more than either Bregman and Arenado
I think I speak for most fans when I say I will HAPPILY take him back 😆 I don't really care about the money because the team has been cheapskates the past 5 years. They can afford it. And I have a feeling if he came back home, he'd have a bounceback season, plus he was a great leader in the locker room. Put him at 2B and I'd be VERY happy with this offseason.
We'd love to have Xander back however we all know there is no way this is going to happen. Breslow is has been way too silent they have to start making some moves. Maybe I'm optimistic but I do think they will bring in another right handed bat and reliever but I have no idea who they will bring in 🤔
Good analysis, but I think the big issue is whether Xander is actually an "impact bat" anymore. If it's all PETCO, why hasn't that park hurt Machado or Arraez or Profar or Higashioka or Solano or Peralta? I'm not sure any amount of money justifies the possibility of a guy with a sub-700 OPS taking up a roster spot for 9 years.
Fair totally fair but he was injured this year and last year he still had a really really solid hitting season so that may not be the whole truth either
Suarez numbers are inflated, like you said it’s not a hitters park and reason for negative trade value. Bogarts wouldn’t be a good fit either, Nick Sogards already can produce if given the amount of AB that Bogarts gets.
I don't think the Padres take that kind of haircut, and that's a long time to have him around. The Red Sox did the right thing letting him walk in the first place and shouldn't take him back.
Happy Birthday from Dublin, Corbin!!! 🎉🎉🎉 Enjoy the break with your fiancé this weekend. By the way, I watched the live stream yesterday ( I live in Ireland, so it only starts live at midnight my time). You said you were going on a surprise trip with your "girlfriend" on the stream. You better get used to calling her your fiancé, and soon to be wife. I know my wife of 6 years used to give me grief about calling her my girlfriend when we first got engaged, then married. Always remember, a happy wife is a happy life. Enjoy yourselves, and thanks for opening up Saturday so that the Sox can sign Bregman and Robertson while you're off-air 🤣🤣🤣

Trade for tatis jr or Suarez let the Xander and machado take all that money elsewhere as they grow older. We don’t need aging and declining players
No on Xander but i would trade Worcester and half of Portland for Tatis. That would be exactly what this team needs. A young dude that mashes, gold glove defense, attitude for days oh man. I hate thinking about it because itll never happen but fuck. Padres are broke so they aint paying half that contract. Bring us Tatis
Now we need an Absurd Trade for Mookie Betts 💀
Down
Na fr
Mookie is never leaving LA lol
Imagine taking 9 years of Bogaerts but not giving Bregman 5?
Yeah for the same price
@redseatradio understandable but after 5 years you dont want another 4 years of either guy likely
@StinkyPeterson maybe not but being stuck with a 12.5 million dollar deal for those years is much MUCH easier to work with
If they get Machado I will be a fan of another team. He ended Pedroia's career early and that is unforgivable to me. I also think he's a clubhouse cancer. Hard not too honestly
We can only hope this doesn’t happen. That be such an awful trade/acquisition
I don't know Xander would block eventually moving Mayer to 3rd base where he's even going to end up
Bogaerts trade makes zero sense honestly. Red sox have combination of Story, Campbell, Mayer, and Vaughn Grissom. For suarez id like that but no need for xander.
On behalf of Red Sox fans we will take that sacrifice 😂
You got it
Nah, not buying that high mileage beat up older car when you have new models that we can test drive. Thanks Corbin.
Trading Abreu for reliever if sure Anthony or Campbell play RF day one is a reasonable possibility.
How about noooooo.
Hard pass at any value. I dont want a gray haired Xander tying down a roster spot for 9 years while we have all this talent coming. Nope, bad move
I love Bogie but for 9 years? Man! That's why the Red Sox didnt sign him. Ridiculous contract. That 9yrs would block our younger, cheaper players and it won't age well. Give me Bregman or Arenado......
I’ve got one let’s trade Anthony,Mayer,Campbell, and Devers for Tatis
Lol
No. We need to trade our worst for their best... ;^)
Nuts! Tatis is always getting hurt....I'll pass
What? I hope you are being sarcastic
Your talking about paying Xander 12mil per year at age 32yrs old for 9yrs thats roughly 110mil. Your really banking on a few good years of play so it's a terrible deal for Sox.
Expect the unexpected, I am ready for Spring Training
Same lol
Corbin the idea is absurd!
If you could consider this how could you not sign Bregman. Corbin your losing direction.
Dude it’s 9 years for literally less money than Bergman for pretty much the same thing
It would be something that’s for sure
Agreed on Machado. That would be impossible to accept.
i would love to see Xander return
Tatis yes amazing Machado and Xander hell no
Stop defending these incompetent people. They really screwed up this off-season. They had money and prospects and still short . Don't be a homer.
Lmao
Not for Wilyer, but for Masa this makes baseball sense.
Breslow would probably not consider any player on a longer than 4 year contract as he is more worried about 2028-29 than 2025
Not true....Henry is the problem
Corbin, for the most part, I really like your show, but this take is…🤦🏻♂️
That’s fine don’t need to agree on everything
I don’t want anything to do with Xander. He was extremely overrated when he was here and nothing has changed. He just isn’t very good! He is just like Correa. They both STINK!
Even paying 1/2 the contract is too long. Way too long. Plus I don’t think he’s a good fielder. No, been there, let it go.
Wouldn’t be mad about it at all
Cheap sox at their worse, this team is pathetic
At some point it seems the Red Sox must accept they need to overpay for talent. Exhibit A: XB.
Surprisingly this potential deal makes some sense provided the Padres want to eat a significant part of Xander Bogaerts' current contract ($25.45 million per year expiring after the 2033 season) ... Why you even bring that. Xander is out
Gotta think big. We have two or more very good 2nd base prospect and a very good Right fielder (Wilyer). Trade one 2nd baseman and Wilyer for Tatis, Bogaerts and Suarez,. Not sure gamble is the right word I think it’s more so can he ever be early 2020s x again
Should’ve never let Xander go . Machado has some talent but can be a punk at times. Heck , the Red Sox might be bring Rusney Castillo back too 😵💫

I also see that number 2 is currently available.....if I'm not mistaken
I see we have another X fan in here love it
@@redseatradio Have been since he came up! Was heartbroken when he left, so this would be great vindication.
You can't put him at SS because of Storey and not 3B. 2B, I don't now.
I think the Red Sox would be eating the last 4 years. Even if the Padres pay half it is still almost 50 million wasted.
Maybe, but you still get 4 really solid years and a bench bat at 12.6 million isn’t a terrible hinderance
If the Padres are looking to shed salary, Breslow needs to ask about Tatis Suarez and maybe then half ofX man's salary. Sox send Yoshi Abreu Rafaela and Grissom. @@redseatradio in a good way. Just still not crazy about blocking the young talent, but Devers is even better with Bogie

Okay I'm willing to get even weirder. Xander and tatis for Anthony wilyer and arias. Am I a bit crazy or is this at least worth thinking about?

@@redseatradio Good points. But I guess I'd still be pretty hesitant to take that risk.
So what about Myers? I don't agree. Would be a waste, the only thing positive is a Right handed Bat.
Well very few players can hit in San Diego
Suarez numbers are inflated, like you said it’s not a hitters park and reason for negative trade value. Bogarts wouldn’t be a good fit either, Nick Sogards already can produce if given the amount of AB that Bogarts gets.
Saying Nick Sogard can be Xander is a bit of a tough take tbh
I don't think the Padres take that kind of haircut, and that's a long time to have him around. The Red Sox did the right thing letting him walk in the first place and shouldn't take him back.

it’s radical, and it’s never going to happen.
Scott Boris ruined the Bogaerts Boston Career!!! Henry is not doing business with Boris again!
Trade for Tatis. I will give for Tatis. Abreu or Anthony, or Durán. Plus Klubber, or Fitts, and with Mayer
No Machado pls.
Hard pass because of the length of the contract.
I love thisssss please
Tatis, Tatis and Tatis
Corbin ... you've piqued my interest, let's get it done
Xander top 3 all time?????????
Favorite Sox players? Yep.
NOOOOOOOOOO
Hard to give up Abreu…but I like it. I’d do it.
I'd DO it in a heartbeat! I like the rose-colored glasses :) Think about it, this would work

Coreman. Boards was to come back back it would be almost worth it positive increase in Devers. Considering how cl9se of friends they are
